    Hey all

Just quickly as I have a lecture now...

    Yeah thanks to everyone who made it once again, some good matches going down. Just quickly to Shaun;

    [2_][4][6][P]

is dbpm ... but its way too obvious coming from a crouch so I tend not to use it by its self... I modify it with

    [1][1][4][6][P]
    [3][3][4][6][P]
    or faster still
    [1][2][1][4][6][P]

    in fact its possible to get the last one out without any crouching animation at all in some instances. Probably Akiras best nitaku weapon is LBF ([3][P]+[K]) ie opponent has to guess between hit or throw when it hits. It causes leg collapse on counter but it is very slow. Heres some combos to monkey around with;

[3][3][P] > [P] > [2_][6][P]+[K] > [2_][4][6][6][P] works on almost anyone in either stance (except heavies) does 75 on normal hit 90 on counter.

    [3][3][P] > [P] > knee > [2_][4][6][P] does 97 on counter vs some of the girls

[4][6][P] > [6][6] > [2][P] > [2_][4][6][P] does 65 on normal hit 76 on counter (or something like that) but you must be in open stance and will only work up to light MWs but another thing is that the last dbpm can JUST be TR'd too.

knee > knee > knee (wall hit) > knee
haha a funny combo needs a counter on first hit and perfect positioning near the wall. Does 112 damage only really useful upto light MWs again.

I'm happy with the way I played in general though I should have sabaki'd a lot more against all those LPs. I'm well into Pai atm so expect an Akira- Pai combination for next time.

    I'll post the results early tomorrow but for now heres my comments/thoughts;

    ADE

Man some fucking awesome Akira mirror matches. Gotta record them all next time. Some of the Akira - Kage matches were cool too and I'll have mt Pai ready for you next time. Shame you didn't do as well as usual...can we expect some Lion and Lau soon?

    DARIUS

Well had like 5 matches, not many at all. Some nice close ones too and some gay ones by me. Look forward to next meet.

    WILL

Ahhh titanic Goh-Akira matches...lost 5-4 in the end but seriously good. Beware my sabaki in future! (Only rememvered it in the last fights or so and caught you twice with it).

    SHAUN

Yeah we had some good matches. Glad I took your Jacky to 4 fights. Strong as ever but hopefully by next time I'll give you even more of a challenge. btw I'm only going away for 3 weeks!!...also I'm thinking of holding a meet on the 20th but I'm not sure atm.

    ANDY

Some close matches and some where I was just shit. Think I'm starting to slowly catch up to you and Shaun. That final was fucking tense though!

    RAMSEY

Yeah cheers man no show at the last minute. Uni work my arse.

    NAKURA

Hmmm [6][K]+[G], [6][6][K]+[G], [K][K], [P][P][P][P][P][P][K][K][K][K] , [2][K]+[G] yeah didn't get warmed up against you at all and keep falling for the same old gay things as usual.

Well unfourtnunatley we can't get nay matches on here as no one has the equipment. As for Absolution I know I'll be revising all easter so I'm a no to that. Ade will you try and get that jap file sorted? Oh and I've been going through my cds and got some banging tunes to put on for the next fights. Does anyone have any requests?

Thanks for everyone coming and thakfully this time EVERYONE got a good amount of games played.

Also I'm thinking a limiting it to 2 chars for each player nest time to avoid the "I'm using XXX cos you can't play against him" kinda mentality and it'd make things fairer and also make players specialise and practise even more with their main chars.

    Chris

Its the EYE OF THE TIGER its the thrill of the fight...

I will try and learn a few new combos /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Problem is those are the only ones that seem to do anything for Pai - maybe I should try someone else! [4]+[K][G] seems to do more damage than most other things, and works especially well when people are getting up!

I hear Pai's dad is quite handy in the ring...

Yeah the [6][K]+[G] is a beatdown move same as [K][K] which requires very good timing to escape (TR) further damage. I think you should stick with Pai definately but you also have a Brad file too.

EV2: I'll get u next time gadget, next time! Yeah, I sucked this time, **** happens!

Lau and Lion are being abused at the mo, and I'm getting items on the japanese version as we speak.

Will, I'll see if I can get some time off work to come to london.

Chris, yeah some great double akira matches, next time, we'll record some.

Das 1 great match, watch out, I'm using Lion now!

    Nakura, cheers 4 the cd!

well Chris, if you want my opinion for the final fight it should be "For Whom The Bell Tolls" by metallica, the first line says it all.
as for ades fights we should play "Sad but True", it really captures the ambience (I think thats spelt right) created by his hideous fighting skills.
the 3rd place play offs should have the same music as before, really fitted i thought.
i doubt me and andy can make the next one though coz we are really strapped for cash and we cant really afford it, sorry guys.
on the plus side it will give someone else a chance to get to the finals.

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just spent 24493583984753894 fucking years typing and then hit "Esc" by mistake. AAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHH

    So, once AGAIN.....

I'd like to start of by saying congratulations to......

ME! For pretending to lose to Shaun for a while before beating him with ease when I actually decided to try.... (ahem...)

    I thought this meet was better than the last one simply for two reasons;

    A. People actually got more than 4 fights each (Cheers Will for bringing the second setup)

    B. I didn't play like I was wearing boxing gloves this time.

If you can Chris, then save the replay of the final and I'll copy it when we next come over (I forgot to do it on Saturday)

I think everyone had a decent day on Saturday and it seemed like the benefits of regular meetings are starting to show especially in some of the guys who were previously quite weak.

Darius: You're shitloads better than you used to be, impressed with the way you dispatched Will in the 3rd place playoff (and the fact that you turned up before 1700 this time ). Next time I think you should fight someone other than me and Shaun when you first arrive. It seems to fuck up your confidence which is unfortunate since (in my opinion) you're the best player there apart from us. (Does that sound big-headed?)

Will: MUUUUUCCCCCCCCHHHHHHH better man. Punch-throw is cool. Good to see you mixing up different strikes before trying to nail the killer throw. f+P, P is the shit, you might wanna use it more.

Steve: I don't know where the hell you cam up with that strategy but it nearly had me beat. How fast is she?!!!?!?! I think you were unlucky towards the end. Look forward to the rematch.

Chris: Saw some nice combos. That shit into the wall was mean I think I'll practice it. I agree about you catching up, stick at it man.

Ade: You didn't play so well but it wasn't all that bad. Kinda disappointed when you wouldn't play me. I know it's not always much fun when you lose (especially mirror matches) but still, would you rather me let you win? Doubt you'd improve much that way.
I think your main problem is simply that you use too many characters. Your Kage and Sarah would definitely improve if you dropped the whole Wolf, Lau, Lion, Akira etc etc thing and just concentrated on those two. I mean, look at Shaun. Even at home when we're just pissing about the only time he ever strays from Jeff and Jacky is when he uses Lau once in a blue moon for a laugh. On Version C I used ONLY Akira. Nobody else ever. For months and months on evo I ONLY used Goh. It really does help your play become more instinctive rather than trying to think carefully about what you're gonna do. Just my opinions but I think it could help you.

Shaun: You're crap, I could have beat you with my knob. Oh and Wednesday is payday incase you forgot so we'll be able to go to the next one (if there is one)

Ramsey: Pity you couldn't come, see you next time? Oh by the way, you should start training with Lei Fei because apparently on the next game he's going to have a moustache AND leather jacket.

I know that was a long post but I hardly get on here anymore so I have to make up for it when I do.

Re: Manchester, 6th March, League of the Tiger

Yeah cheers for the input guys. I've all the final replays still saved so you can get them next time. I'll let peeps know when I'm definate about the date for next meet.

As for songs I was going through my collection last night...

"Two tribes" by Frankie goes to Hollywood for the inevitable final of Shaun and Andy. First line sums it up " When two tribes go to war moneys all that you can score". Would be fitting of we WERE playing for money too.

"Flash Gordon" Queen. Come on now "Flash ahhhh ahhhhh saviour of the Universe". Plus its got quotes in from the film like Brian Blesseds "Gordons ALIVE?????????????"

    "Bawitiba" by Kid Rock

    "Calm Like a Bomb" RATM

"Burly Brawl" (lol the 100 agent smith fight from matrix reloaded)

    "Nothing" A

    "Layla" Clapton

"Staying Alive" The Bee Gees (for Lion obviously...nice and gay)

    Oh damn loads more just can't think atm. Anyways heres all the results in full;

    LMA v SA Akira v Kage 0-3
    LMA v Nak Akira v Pai 0-3
LMA v Will Akira v Goh 1-3 (should have been closer)
    LMA v E Akira v Akira 0-3
    LMA v EV2 Akira v Jacky 1-3

    SA v EV2 Wolf v Jacky 0-3
    SA v E Wolf v Akira 0-3
    SA v Will Kage v Goh 0-3
    SA v Nak Kage v Pai 3-0
    Sa v Das Lau v Lion 2-3

    EV2 v Das Jacky v Lion 3-0
    EV2 v Nak Jeffry v Pai 3-0
    EV2 v E Jacky v Goh 1-3
    EV2 v Will Jacky v Goh 3-0

    E v Das Goh v Lion 3-2
    E v Will Akira v Goh 3-0
    E v Nak Kage v Pai 3-2

    Nak v Das Pai v Lion 1-3
    Nak v Will Pai v Goh 0-3

    Will v Das Goh v Pai 1-3

So positions and win-loss records look like:

    1. Elite 6-0
    2. EliteV2 5-1
    3. Darius 4-2
    4. Will 3-3
    5. SlimAdey 2-4
    6. Nakura 1-5
    7. LM_Akira 0-6 (raaarrr come on!!)

Then we had the semis play offs:

    EV2 v Das Jeffry v Pai 3-0

    Will v E Goh v Akira 0-3

Then the runner up fight (Oh yeah)

    Das v Will Lion v Goh 3-0

Then the Final fight (Eye of the Tiger)

    EV2 v E Jeffry v Goh 2-3

    To give final placings as;

    1. Elite (Goh, Akira, Kage, Wolf)
    2. EliteV2 (Jeffry, Jacky)
    3. Darius (Lion, Pai)
    4. Will (Goh)
    5. SlimAdey (Kage, Wolf, Lau)
    6. Nakura (Pai)
    7. LM_Akira (Akira)

Wow wow wow was typing so long didn't see Ades post had been added. Shaun and Ade lets try and keep things friendly and "in the spirit " of things please! If not for me then for the children, think of the children!

Re: Manchester, 6th March, League of the Tiger

Right, I know I'm not that good at Virtua Fighter, I never have been, the complex nature of the game makes me look and think far to deep into a particular situation or character and as a result i try too hard. I used to only use Akira back in VF2, but obviously the game has developed and I have used more and more characters and I know I have let thing's slide (probably due to some serious tekken abuse a few years back), but I know I'm devoted to the game, why? Simple. I bought an imported Dreamcast a few years back, why? So I could get Japanese VF3 and play the game early. What made it real hard was being surrounded by Tekkenites, making thing's much harder. Still onto to VF4, I wanted to play it and Master it, but tekken proved easier and everyone I knew slid off into tekken oblivion , then Evo comes out, I play it loads and ironically like the thing that much that I try and use too many character's again. In my tekken day's I ONLY used Ogres, it got to a stage where NOONE played ME. But I switch to Mishamas, lose loads of fights and the pattern starts again. It's seems I can't win. It's my problem, noone else's, I'm just havin FUN, or has everyone forgotten that's why were MEANT to play it? Just give a fat guy a break. Jeez louise.

Oh and BTW for people who give a crap Im only using Kage, Lau and Lion (I used to used ONLY Lau in the original VF4).

Well it seems someone is a little pissy. No need to take things the wrong way man. I can't speak for Shaun but MY comments were just things I thought might help you out. If you want to take them as me dissing you or something then fine, but that's not what I was trying to do.

I wont bother trying to help in future then since it obviously offends you so.

    Andy

P.S. about the whole Tekken thing, aside from a little bit of VF2 play ages ago, me and Shaun played only Tekken all the way up until VF4 came out (as we never had a dreamcast). So I don't really know why you think that makes you a bad VF player.

Anyway consider my nose out of your business.

Re: Manchester, 6th March, League of the Tiger

Okay okay I think we need to cool things down a little here guys. As for fighting game backgrounds...

I originally played SF2 non stop when it came out. I was shit at it cos I had no human opposition and would get trounced down the arcade but I still loved playing it. Then I moved to Tekken 3 and played that to death before getting into DoA2 as its so much fun to play in 2 player. Only then did I get VF4. I played Sarah for like 6 months solid with a bit of Lei Fei too. Then played as Aoi for a few months before starting to take Akira seriously. I studied at this site and played Kumite to death.

At first Nakura had no probs in beating me even though he didn't play Kumite much. Why? Cos I'd become way to accustomed to ai opposition and I still am to some extent now. Reading a book on how to run a 4 minute mile isn't going to let you run one, you have to get out and try it. Likewise reading and digesting lots of VF info about lots of chars won't make you instantly better it takes lots of practice vs human opponent and this is maybe the point where our group becomes unstable.

Shaun and Andy have one another to play all the time wheras other players do not or fnd it hard to find other VF players near by. I'm not using this as an excuse at all, if anything its a reason for us guys to make more of an effort to beat you. It can be very frustrating to keep losing but if you manage to get in that E-TTE-G against Wolf or you hammer home that stance/character/counter dependent combo with Akira then you should just be pleased with how you've improved.

Its easy to trail off in a full days play like we do as VF is a game thats hard on the hands and reflexes but it shouldn't mean just giving up because you get so pissed off with yourself. The way I look at it is that if someones doing something really cheap and nasty to you and you keep falling for it then its YOUR fault for letting them get away with it. If your beaten by a better player then it will probably highlight the areas of your play you need to improve. All in all I want these meets to remain fun and free from trouble amongst players.

I can't be doing with the bad blood between player's, it SO annoying and isn't the reason I play the game, I respect Andy and Shaun's ability at the game, but I'll play the game in MY WAY, I don't wanna have to quit the game, I want to have fun other what's the point of me bothering to come to the meet's? BTW Chris, V. Good comment's.

Yeah, hopefully any waves of discontent amongst players can settle down to normal now and we can all get on with practising for next time.

Currently working on Pai's inashi follow ups and throwing game...like all her throws are more or less setups and I'm trying to come up with some "constant position changing headfuck setups". Plus she has some very nice float combos. Oh yeah and some full circulars AND 11 frame punch, rock on!

um, Ade, your weight means nothing to anyone, (apart from Chris's wallet, but i eat most of the food anyways, and im thinner than all y'all). loosen up man, there is no harm in having fun, but that doesnt mean that you cannot take the chance to improve as well. as for london, what are you talking about, (i dont mean to sound stupid, though i probably do) what happens in london? also, i thought it was mega expensive (yes i just used the word mega) to get to london. isnt that where that ryan hart dude lives? if so, it will be on an aracde machine that uses sticks, and me and andy suck on those......

p.s. why not try lau, he is fun, easy and really good?

The reason u would do good is London (Well not in the arcades) is bcos most people hold addict session's (like we do!) so u would b able to play on the ps2 mostly, so u would b ok on pad. Ignore the vicous pm I sent u, u can take thing's too far sometimes, that's all!

Re: Manchester, 6th March, League of the Tiger

    To both:

London is the spiritual heart land of UK VF I'm afraid. Thats why I set up these meets to see how many were ooop north as it were. If you check any southern based gathering threads you'll often see many names wheras in the north its the same old few. I think we've kinda recently evened up the balance with our meets but theres still a north-south divide in the UK VF scene. Plus theres the fact that not everyone who plays VF in the arcade will be registered here so theres a chance of top players playing in London and never showing up on this site.

As for the next meet I think it may have to be after I get back (18th of April or so) as I have too much work to get done and revision to get started (Yes I said revision...my exams start in May and go through June but I have to sit an exam on general physics which is weighted 2 times more than any other exam...its basically a physics paper based on the last 3 years of my course!!! /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif).

So anyways get practising peeps, should easily have my Pai and possibley Aoi to Champion by then. Oh yeah may even manage to do more than 2 hrs of FFX-2.

about london, do you really think they would let us just march down to there meetings, plug a PAD in and start playing, i mean, they will all use sticks and will get really annoyed about plugging in pads all the time.....
