    Re: Replays

I have asystem file set up on my pal version (cos my last one corrupted, with all of our names for all our characters (I've kinda predicted the character's used). All the file's have 0wins/0losses so it'll be a perfect record. The only thing is I don't have space for matches to record! I'll have to delete some old crap I've got stored on there.

Mike's Akira might come out of retirement, if only to curb the Jacky abuse he's gonna get from me and Shaun! I think his main is Shun, but he 'dabbles' with LeiFei as well, at least there's gonna be no gay Lion, yeah! The french fag can stay home tonight!

well, he came, he fought, I CONQUERED!

    I whooped Iron Mike good.
i seem to remember getting to 24-0 with Jeff V Akira.
i also crippled him with Jacky, he said he thinks i could beat Ryan Hart, so i am hopeful, but i don't really think i could put up much of a fight.
about Mike, he is quite good with Akira, he can use SPoD very effectively, and he does great 'getting up' forced choice stuff. the thing i found that was his biggest flaw was the fact that he was very easy to manipulate, he is very predictable and he finds it hard to defend against flow charts, but that is just being picky.
over all it was a good addict session. we played till half four in the morning (Ade slept for about two hours while me and mike played, this was from 1-3 i think), then me and Mike slept till half seven, woke up and played VF! then we went into town, got lost, drove round a round-about three times and then Mike bought a Telecaster. (on my recommendation). we then went back to his house, played more VF, then i showed him how to play a guitar. ( i gave him the tab for 'stay together for the kids (the arpeggio is quite difficult, so it gives him something to work to) and i gave him the tab for 'smooth criminal' cos it is the first thing i ever learnt how to play and it is really easy to learn.
i know this i probably to much info, but due to the lack of sleep i have, i am unable to stop waffling on, so i will just end the post here.

Were you forced to endure the travesty of comedy that is Bo Selecta 3?

Canned Laughter? Just say no, kids.

NEWS FLASH: Bo Selecta has ALWAYS had canned laughter

Wow Shaun 24-0 sounds a bit sick. btw how long have you played guitar? I knew Andy played a bit but didn't realise you did. My first guitar was a telecaster over 7 yeras ago or so. What stuff is mike into? I'd only have reccomneded a tele if he likes a bit of country/blues splang type stuff. Les Pauls and Strats are what real men play, through fuck off 6 foot marshal amps /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif.

Anyways good stuff on the matches. If you could beat Ryan Hart from Mikes word, what about Rayne? Everyone was having difficulty against him last time.

As for guitar stuff, what do you play? Any tapping, sweeping, artificial harmonics, teeth playing etc going down?

Shame I couldn't have made it, sounds like the random nights me Ade and Das have...just don't mention the Stella. /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

    Re: Replays

Yeah, me too atm (again no offense) but after Mikes threats of killing us all at VF and now hes seen what Shaun plays like...and makes that kind of suggestion you have to ask yourself how good Rayne is since he was consistently beating everyone last time, including both Andy and Shaun.

It was the first time ever the final wasn't an all Elites final!

Ahh, its all swings and roundabouts.

    Re: Replays

you keep mentioning Rayne, he used TOP BUTTONS!
you all think i am just crying, but if you really look at how much of an advantage he had, it makes sense:
    1) tech rolling is piss easy as it is just one button
    2) THROW ESCAPES ARE SIMPLE! because throw is just one button, it means th tquad throw escape guard is no problem. this also means that you can use throw counterable moves AT WILL, without having to worry about damage, so essentially you can use Akiras Knee as a poke!
3)other things, such as kick and guard as one button, and punch and kick as one button means that complex combos are really easy to do, and there is no chance of failure.
    4) general fluencey is greatly improved, taking an average joe and turning him into a real threat.

all these factors show that using top buttons is a major advantage, which is why they are BANNED at real tournaments.
another note (although this sounds like an excuse, it isn't i am just pointing out ALL the reason that COULD have affected the outcome) is that neither me nor Andy have had any experience against a GOOD Lion user, so it makes it hard to know when to attack and when to defend, e.t.c.
we will have to see how good he is on his stick, if he still beats me, then he is good, and i will have to start practicing against Lion. (don't know how though, as no one uses him. (maybe i can practice against Rayne himself, if i can play him often enough))

as for me against Ryan Hart, don't worry, i don't have some crazy idea that i can beat him, i would expect a thorough beating, but i think that i might be able to give him a little competition. but overall, i know that he would rip me apart, i have seen the killer stuff he can do, and compared to that, i am but an amateur.

    guitars:

i asked Mike what sort of music he liked, and he gave me a list of Dance music, so i new that he wouldn't want a Les Paul now, would he. i figured that he wanted to just make a few good sounds on it, and a Telecaster for £200 is a rather good buy.
as for me, i play Bass, i have a Tanglewood Warrior II, it cost £359, and my amp is a Backline, it was £500.
i have been playing since i was 12, but i mainly messed around on an Acoustic, i only picked up Bass two years ago, but i can play a few things, i know the basics. (though i still can't read music, i just use Tab instead, cos most of the stuff i play is stuff that listen to, so i know the Rhythm/Tempo e.t.c.

Scotland this weekend (hopefully Li will forget to come, i hate fighting his Shun /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif)

    Respect

I have to say a big respect to Shaun and his Jacky and Jeffry skill's. I think it's safe to say I sucked more cock than Dan and Marco combined on Friday, but have now dedicated to Jacky (I do use Lau, but he doesn't compare to Jacky in my eyes). Kage is on hold for the forseeable future, maybe until Final Tuned. You've gotta respect Mike's Spod consistentcy though (I wish I could Spod like that, Damn! /versus/images/graemlins/mad.gif). Where did you get the telecaster? BTW, Good luck to the Scottish crew this weekend, you're gonna get creamed!

The only fair way of judging a player’s ability is for everyone to use arcade sticks *hint hint* which the game was developed for.

Shoulder buttons, pads, or whatever....so long as people use different controllers you'll get people complaining about unfair advantages or whatever.

    Re: Replays

Hey chill out man! I was only playing devils advocate. I was pissed of as much as you were when I realised he was beating me with the help of

    "Mr Tech roll button"
    "Mr Throw/Throw Escape button"
    "Mr magic combo button"

etc but yeah if hes still as good as he was on a stick with 3 butons he could be a pretty damn good player. I think we should really just let the "shoulder buttons" shit die down now and RIP.

As for the guitar stuff I was only messing too, Teles are perfectly good for starting out. In fact it takes ages to learn the appreciation of what different guitars sound like anyway.

I can read music as I play a few other instruments but its no big deal when playing guitar as guitar music is very ambiguous...you can play the same A chord in loads of positions and some solos have to be played in a certain way etc....so tab is defo the way to learn the guitar.

Why did you get it from though? Johnny roadhouse?

As for Ryan Hart, lets not forget theres a clip of him from EVO2K3 doing EQTEG...that is after a gajillion attempts (not too dis at all mind).

Its good that you've put us on the map now though Shaun. Hopefully Ironmike won't think of us all as shit anymore.

    Ade:

Yeah Jacky is ahead of the game compared to Lau (IMHO) but I still can't believe you're sidelining Kage. Its sacrilige!

Anyone heard from Will btw? I thought he said he was moving to Manchester soon?

    Dropping Kage

I am REALLY loathe to drop Kage, but I personally don't feel I am good enough to use him at a competitive level, hell, I have trouble with Jacky! If this was VF3, I probably wouldn't have as much trouble as in Evo, due to the higher skank factor kage possessed, at the end of the day, I wanna get SOME win's and if switching to Jacky is what it takes, then that's what I gotta do.

    Re: Dropping Kage

Noooo the Kage pics even been change to Jacky, you must be serious!

I know exactly what you mean though, its the same sort of story with me and Goh say. I can win with Goh and I can beat some people with him I can't beat normally but at the end of the day I get really bored with him.

Jacky is a sick char to use though, he can be used in so many ways and has so much stuff at his disposal. As does Kage but thats a different story. Hmmm are the meets going to descend into the eternal battles of Lion-Akira-Jacky-Jeff??? Certanly looking that way atm! lol!

It certainly seems that the character's that are winning the japanese tournament's are being represented at our meet's, hmm? I guess the cream of the crop rises to the top! I'm loving the serious amount of basic but effective moves jacky has, he can attack all day and I'm looking forward to his SS being improved in FT (More moves from it!). I wonder if his F+P,P will be modified again?

    Re: Replays

hey Chris, relax, i'm not pissed with you, i just hate the fact that he rates himself as a good VF'er, and i don't want anyone else to rate him untill we can see what he is made of.
as for the guitar stuff, i think that the main reason that i recommended the Telecaster was the fact that, to someone who doesn't like Metal, Rock, or Rock 'n' Roll, an ESP isn't really going to be the first choice. I know that the Telecaster is a good guitar, when Distortion is on, it can rock with the best of 'em, but when it is set clean, it can give alot of different effects and can be used in a wide variety of styles, so i thought it would be good to start with, as it will help him choose what direction he wants to follow. the only draw-back to a Telecaster, is the fact that it isn't too good for SERIOUS METAL, like you said, country/blues are really where it is at. i just figured that he would be better of with a guitar that sounds good, and will last him along time, rather than getting him one that whines every time an open note is played, will fall apart after six months and is suited to ONE SPECIFIC TYPE OF MUSIC. (Stagg, Legend, Encore).

    Ade:
thanks for the 'big-up' man, hopefully you will get more out of Jacky than Kage. (though i still wish you would make Lau your major for a while, he is a very good character, and no one else uses him, so not only will you have the advantage of people not having much practice against him, you will also be bringing something freash to the table, instead of Manchester becoming a battle of Jacky, Akira and Kage, with cameo appearances from Jeffry and Sarah.

as for me putting us on the map, lets not forget Andy, he is just as good as me, and he plays Akira, which will go in his favour when playing higher tier players, as Akira is the best.
by the way, Mike wants to come to the next meeting we have, i told him that it wouldn't be a problem, as we are always looking for 'fresh meat'. i also told him to talk to you Chris, as he doesn't fully understand all the mechanics of the game, and he doesn't know all the things you can do with Akira (lightweight combos, character specific combos, flow charts e.t.c.). so i thought it would be a good idea for you to pass on some of your ever-growing wisdom with the uneducated......

    Jacky/Lau

Yeah, I probably try and get the best outta Lau, but I think I will always prefer Jacky slightly, but I'll keep plugging away with Lau, cos as you said, noone else uses him as a 'main'. Kick some ass in Haggis Land. Och Aye!

    Changes in FT

Just saying that Kage's TFT is HCB+P+G, NOT 270, in FT (Modified from the Test version's) I've still dropped him though. It seems Lau has been toned down a lot though /versus/images/graemlins/mad.gif. I was starting to get into him as well. Still, he does have a new juggle starter after his 2_3 P (F+P I think) which only has to mc and a BK Hit throw, so it ain't all bad.

    My kage file

Chris: I know I'm gonna regret this, but you can give my Kage file to Andy if you want. I still have a Jacky file and is the Lau file you've recently championed mine?, or is it your's? If you don't want it, could I have it? (and the tora tora tiger as well? /versus/images/graemlins/smirk.gif my avatar!). It's ok if it's your's, I'm just enquring.
