You can also use a DBC, dbpm or various other moves to pass over down opponents and end facing the "wrong" way. You can even jump over them provided the fall side on.

    Ok guys a provisional date:

    18th October

This is a saturday btw. Just thought I'd get a date down for people interested. I'd like to run it from the morning (say 10.30/11.00) till about teatime (5.30/6.00 ish). I know slimadey should hopefully be able to make it and probably WJ too but any of you other guys let me know asap either here or PM me.

Hi Chris, that SHOULD be OK, BUT, I am moving house in the next three weeks, so might be moving stuff to my new gaff. Everything will be probably be sweet however.

I've FINALLY done tactics with Kage, and been practising some new TFT combos and setups with him.

By the way, how's Dido's new album, does it compare to the first?

I'll let Das know about the tournie. /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif

    Csnape!
I have not been reading this post for a very long time! Sorry I have not replied. Anyway its cool to see the amount of work you have put into getting this up and running. As for your invitation I cannot make weekends as I only work them two days in the week. I am at university for the other 5 days but I can take Tuesdays and Wednesdays off. I have minor modules on those two days, meaning that its not the end of the world if I miss them two lessons! /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Anyway, I can't get time off work because I need a minimum of a months notice before I can take a day off! If there is any alteration in the date I will consider it but other than that i am extremely sorry! /versus/images/graemlins/confused.gif /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif /versus/images/graemlins/confused.gif

OK...not heard from anyone else recently...I may put it back to the 25th if thats ok (well if you're pulling a sickie that won't matter any way will it?) as atm its a bit too short a notice for some people I think. Keep watching the thread and I'll get info up asap.

    Hello everyone.

I reecently built myself an arcade stick and decided to purchase a few fighting games to test it out (it was built primarily for shooters).

I have never had an interest in fighting games before so I was very surprised to find that I actually love them.

GGX2 has been my main focus so far but the lack of a Northern (or UK) scene has promted me to practice my Evo.

I am completely crap at Evo but am determined to learn and the best way seems to be to talk to other players and play6 against people who are far better than you.

I'm a complete fighting game novice ( the last fighting game I had played was Yie Ar Kung Fu on the BBC Micro or perhaps Golden Axe on the MD!).

I was amazed to find that modern fighters have an amazing depth of play with tactics etc. The whole idea of framerate advantage is completely new to me.

I've started playing as Shun, is this a good idea? I don't want to get too far into learning all the moves if it's justg a waste of time?

    Any help is much appreciated.

Well I don't want to tell people who to play as etc but Shun isn't really a starting character. I'd recommend Jacky, Sarah or Pai to start with. These chars are good to use until you become more compentent with the whole "VF thang". If you're interested in some comp I'm holding a small gathering soon...

I'm going to have to put it back to the 25th of October (sat) about 10.30 in the morning till about 5 ish at night. Anyone up for this???

Good to see you on sunday btw Steev. Started going mental in my place this last week. A few nice VF fights and some random GGx2/SC2 rumbles in the jungle. When I got back to mine (that huge 5 min walk) just wondered if we bought the cable you mentioned could you get some of the relays we have onto VFDC? Done some more of SC2 now and unlocked a few more things. Be in touch soon but I gotta go now for a fun lecture on Bosons and Fermions......yeah precisely!!!

Cheers csnape, I'll probably change my character then until I get a bit more used to it.

I'd be delighted to make up the numbers for any comps you guys run but I'll be unable to make it for a few weeks yet. It'll give me time to practice anyway /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

After Christmas I may start making a few trips down to London as well.

Hey don't worry about getting practice in. None of us are exactly godly players ourselves. I want to try and run them every few weeks or so ideally so if you wanna come this time round let me know either here on the thread or send my a PM here.

AS for chars I'd say Jacky and Sarah are ideal to begin with as they are fairly quick, strong, have good range and some powerful throws and offensive strats but I'd advise you check out chars in training before you make a choice. I'm mainly an Akira player and hes probably considered quite hard to start with however if you had told me you wnated to start with him I wouldn't dissuade you and would have pointed you in the direction of lots of good help. Biased I suppose. If you really want to learn Shun first just check out all his info here:

Hope people are still watching this thread btw...anyone up for the 25th?

I might be there, depends on work (both uni and the job)! Nice arcade stick dude very professional job.

Regarding the replays, Chris, I just realised I have a TV card - so in theory (if I can install the drivers!) all I need do is plug my PS2 into my PC and save the stream as an MPEG. This would have no sound, I'd have to record that seperately and then synch it or something. I think there is a better way though. Maybe emailing the replay files to someone else might be easier as they'd probably make a better job of it.

Pro Evo 3 in 3 days!

    The second "big" Manchester showdown

Hey that sounds cool. Yeah pe3 should be good but I'd expect you to own me after all the time yu've played the demo for /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif.

Would saound be a problem??? Couks you put down something as a baking track yourself???

Hadn't thought about that but yes I could, conceivably, or I know people who could! Bit of Guano Apes or Dido methinks /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Oh and if you're going to put replays of you owning me all over the shop we also need the replay from VF4 (if we still have it) where I reversed you about a million times /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

    Haha... /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yes my thoughts about the music. What about eye of the tiger or chesney hawkes???Very surreal that would be.

The only replay I saved from the other day is a good one btw. You beat me fair and square in the first 2 rounds and managed to get about 3 [1][P]+[K]s in /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif. I have only about 5/6 replays left from vf4 and they are my fights with High King Akiras. Next time I'm round at yours we could have a proper set of games instead of just a few. I'm sure you could get back into the habit of [1][P]+[K]ing me in no time. Oh just a though too but if you use [3][P]+[K] with Pai with the same timing as a reversal (its called an inashi) then you can capitalise on the stagger animation depending on how well the opponent (ie me or ramsey) struggles out of it. Theres probably a higher damage potential from an inashi than just doing a reversal (stuff like [9][K][K] or [6][K][K] etc can be good).

In other news can anyone make the 25th? I know WJ (guess we should really call him MachiJacky /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif) can make it and Rayne can't but anyone else? Other wise it looks like it'll be a VF/pe3 affair all day.
