    Re: Going to London

Yeah, I'd really like to improve the scene here, main problems are that those who play VF don't all live locally so meets can't be organised all the time easily and there's only around 12-15 us max (that I know about thru this site anyways).

I think the general overall standard is definately better in London, so once we ourselves level out as a group, we'll make the trip down. Some of us have more work to do to improve than others.

    Re: Going to London

I FINALLY get to post, after the stupidly busy day I've had. Last Sat was a really good day, I really enjoyed myself (even though I didn't play my best, I still didn't get whitewashed by ANYBODY /versus/images/graemlins/smirk.gif so it ain't all bad).

I personally have been to London a massive 1 time (earlier in the year) and WILL come in the first quarter of the new year (staying with Will and Mike all being well). It's not like VF is HUGE in the UK (actually IMO NO fighting game reaches the dizzy height's of japanese standard of play, well MAYBE tekken but that's a different story). I just hope the game isn't wiped out by trash talk, even I (yes me /versus/images/graemlins/ooo.gif) has been known to trash talk from time to time, but I'm fully aware of have stupid I act sometimes!

    Anyway about last Sat:

    Dan:
Loved the fight between my Sarah, your Lion, it was TOO close, hopefully I'll do better next time.

    Shaun:
Outspoken as usual, you Jacky was beasting me, very consistent.

    Andy:
Player of the day, no question. I feel honoured that you switched to Wolf instead of the ninja against me, your definetley better skill wise, guess I'm too skanky for my own good sometimes! I loved the first to five we had in the warmups, d+K+G is the shizzle!

    Mike:
Shame your stick was buggered on the day, although some great Tekken 5 matches at the TC, I might start using Feng myself.

    Chris:
I don't remember seeing many of your fight's TBH, although I remember having a good time against your Akira, I'm sure my Sarah was fluking some of her flow charts.

    Kain:
Nice leifei, I hate the arrow punch. I will practice V him a lot more for next time.

    Shezhad:
Pointless writing this, but maybe you should pick up VF, you really should, join the darkside.

    Mye:
Played Mye on Sunday, his BRAD (YES!!!!!!!! BRAD!!!! /versus/images/graemlins/blush.gif was REALLY good, almost matching my Sarah 7-5!). His Wolf was also on form. I could tell he's been practising!

Also, MGS 3 is TOO GOOD. Shaun and Chris, get the kleenex ready for this game, so much better than the other two it's almost scary! Hint: DO NOT PLAY IT ON EASY, IT'S TOO EASY! I'm not joking, you can run through level's like there's noone there (Well, almost LOL.)

Yeah I felt a little harsh on Shezhad showing up as he didn't know how to do anything in VF and putting him into the tourney would have been close to a waste of time as he's a Tekken player (and as such would probably stand no chance against all of us) and it would have taken much longer than it did as everyone would have had an extra match to play. That said he was a cool guy and plays Hyper and 3rd Strike so I'll try and get him round sometime in the future. Cheers for his number.

"I also express Optimus`s sentiment about that fag London comment"

Like I said, i wasn't talking about anyone who has skills or anyone who makes the effort to play the game, I was talking about casual players and people who are new to the game. (yourself included)

"I will say that whatever happened to Mike up there its very hard for me to believe he didnt win a game,"

Look at the results that Chris posted up, you will find that everyone beat him.

"most of you talk the talk but dont walk the walk"

Hmmmm, I have never threatened anyone with violence, nor will I ever, as it proves absolutely nothing. As for anything else, I only really have ever said what I think, which is that some people suck at the game (which I have then gone on to prove is true).

".I think there were some decent players up North, but there are some MONSTERS down here"

Although this has nothing to do with the arguement, as I am really not saying anything about the skill level in London (it is obviously better than up here), I got the impression that most of the best players from London came up here and played in the tournament in Leeds, and I did manage to get to the quarter-finals, so I think that I have proved myself to be a decent player. I have travelled to Scotland quite a few times and played Ryan (Faded), and I can beat him with out too much trouble, and from what I heard, when he came to London with Andy (Elite) he was kicking mundo ass.
I'm not really interested in who has the better players, it's obvious that London is where it's at,. My problem is with the stupid threats of violence that Random and Mike seem to think mean something, and the fact that Mike thinks he is some kind of hot-shot at VF, yet for all his mouthing off, his skills are below par.

"EV2 and co should come down to the arcades here and play on the machines and get a feel of the London VF scene now"

I intend to do just that, as soon as I get a stick and I am playing at my usual standard I am going to come and try out my skills.

"Every guy I met and talked to when the guys came up here in sept were really sound, decent guys"

Amen to that. Everyone I met was totally sound, and I really don't want to offend anyone other than the targeted chumps (Mike and Random), who seem to think that violence is needed.

"After the decent atmosphere at the meet, I'm suprised to see all this kick off. "

Only started coz Mike got pissy about me pointing out the FACT that he played very very bad.

"I know Mikes stick was playing up on button presses but there were flashes of good play when it wasn't".

Ok, I also had a problem with the black pad of yours and I know that I said something about it at the time, but I am not using this as an excuse as to why I lost to anyone. When someone beat me, it was because they were better than me, end of. Also, I have already pointed out that Mike started to user someone else stick and he played EXACTLY THE SAME. there was no change what so ever in his performaces, and the fact that he threw a fit at the end and refused to even play Chris just proves what a baby he is.

"I don't like the VF4Evo ones myself...and I've heard peeps have had trouble with them"

    What kind of problems?

"get a standard Hori stick, one with no association to any fighting game"

Didn't even know that they did this sort of thing.......

"Just wondering why do so many people see the London scene as some kind of holy grail of VF."

man, you are so so so right. I agree with everything you said. London has lots of good players, but it doesn't mean that if you live in London you are the best VF player ever, nor does it mean that you cannot be good at the game if you don't. Take Dan (Rayne, I doubt many Londoners will know him) for example. He has NO ONE AT ALL to practice against, yet he is easily one of the best players that me and Andy have played. Yes it does help to have someone to practice against, and yes it does help if you are playing against people who are good, but it doesn't mean that only Londoners are graced with this advantage, and it doesn't mean that people who aren't in London are unable to improve.

"even I (yes me ) has been known to trash talk from time to time"

Yeah, but our trash talking livens the place up.

    "Shaun:
Outspoken as usual, you Jacky was beasting me, very consistent."

    Thanks for the words man.

"Hint: DO NOT PLAY IT ON EASY, IT'S TOO EASY! I'm not joking, you can run through level's like there's noone there (Well, almost LOL.) "

I'm guessing they have done this so that people who suck at the game can still enjoy the awsome storyline the game offers

Well, I think I need to point out once again that I don't have a problem with anyone who is in London (or anywhere else), I am thinking of coming down sometime around April/May/June sort of time if anyone is having a session at their house that me and Andy would be invited to.

Mike, I don't have too much of a problem with you. I dislike the way you always big yourself up (admittedly, the first time it was Ade or Chris (don't remember who) were doing it, but after I beat you, you then said that you would best both me and Andy at the game the next time we meet) and then don't amount to much, and I don't like the way that you have now decided that threats of violence are justifiable, but other than that i think you are a pretty sound guy and I had a laugh with you when I came to yours the first time we played. (plus, I am hoping that you might decide to sell your guitar on the cheap-side and I will be able to make a quick bargain). /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Random, you are a grade A prick. Most people i have talked to that are respected players seems to really dislike you, and I am very eager to add my name to the list. I really don't understand why you fill your posts with such illiterate nonsense, yet in person you are totally normal..........

Archangel, your name is Remi? cool, it beats the shit outta my normal boring ass name. hmmm anyways, are you in London? it's just that I said before about coming down in the new year and I was wondering if you could help set something up. I think the last time Andy came down, someone called Onny set it up, but I also remember him talking about Ryan being involved in the organisation too, so I am a little confused. Still, if anyone can help set up a gathering then it would be appreciated....

Chris, I checked out the two sticks and I like the look of this one better.

is it any good to use though, coz i don't want one that looks good but plays shitty.

Im sure i remember reading somewhere that someone wasn't too happy with the fighting stick2 but I can't for the life of me find where I read it. So that might be a lifetime of crack abuse affecting my memory again.

The vf4evo sticks are ok, don't really seem to hold up too well overtime though, about 90% of the hori stick problems I hear about seems to be people with evo sticks. I've had mines from about day one and it's certainly aged none too well. Of course it's also done probably a few thousand miles in my bag, and been dropped onto a rather hard floor by stalwart samurai so who knows if it's the sticks fault. Stroppa's still seems to be working ok. And he got his around pretty much the same time.

I have to repeat that the sc2 stick is very nice and seems to hold up much better over time than the evo. It also works on the type C button config which pretty much everyone else's stick seems to work on which makes things a lot less hassle at gatherings.

the hori RAP is the daddy of buyable sticks. But a bit more than most people are willing to pay.

Even with the annoying art on the stick, I would reccomend the SC2 rather than chance spending money on a stick not many people seem to use.

    Hi Dan,

I'm well into MGS3 now, there does seem to be a speech problem occassionally (it's stop's speaking sometimes) and KOF sometimes takes ages to load and has loading problem's, but I kind of expected it TBH. I'll have a look for some more games, but wouldn't mind that Capcom Fighting Jam, I'll post again later with a few more games (there's no point posting just one game).

The SC2 stick is great (I've had mine for about month now) highly recommened, although I prefer my old Namco which is now in joystick heaven!

Dan I remember the arcades in Bath when I was 14, I remember one arcade having 4 tekken 1 machines? What's the arcade scene like nowadays?

okay, whatever sorses are fools, (if they was bad they would say it to my face) if you really thing cos of the style i type/talk on a video game forum is what u judge me on is sound, it just poves even more preduice from your self.

and you admit to starting/stering things up for fun/bordom

proves what a lonely/spitfull person u actually are.

and talk of, im waiting for a stick then im coming to london is just weak, vfevo came out over 2years ago, proves your just scared.

and me talking of violence, well it simple, i will brake anyone who disrepects me, be it tall or small, its not about arguing on the internet when ive met them face to face b4, and i know i will see them again.

i dont mind cussing, but again i prefer that in real life then online.

maybe you just need to find out that in real life adults dont take school boy crap from teenage fraggles.

you just need you teeth kicked in i guess to "learn"

    see you arround

Ade-there is no arcade scene in Bath to speak of anymore. I used to spend far too much money in there when I was younger, then there was a right dickhead who worked there and I stopped going, I like to think it put them out of business lol.Really wanted a job in there though (quazer) they just seemed to do nothing all day except being paid to play games.I thnk Ive abandoned playing with Aoi, just doesnt feel right. May just stick with the poke man himself.

    Right...

By me saying you should come upto London by no means indicates its a wholly grail (a_a? who said it was ?)...its just that for one, there are alot of decent player who didnt come down, and if people read my post properly i also stated that hopefully you maybe invited to a house session with 100% ok sticks etc etc....

As for the ones who came down, yes basically the best were there, but if you remember we were split into 2 groups, so you didnt play the lot downstairs (i played your bro if i remember correctly then got beaten by my team mate /versus/images/graemlins/confused.gif though thats water under the bridge now) I also said that you should play some people now owing to the fact that the general standard is much higher than it was in leeds (and i`m sure you all improved aswell) , so it will be alot more challenging...

Funny I was going to ask that myself. Unless it might be some other strong Akira player player that I havn't heard about, I think it might be Kneeninja he's taliking about. Just a guess he's not on Optimus list.
