I still remember seeing some sick stuff on the now 'old skool' beatemups in arcades in bath (circa 94/95 on two seperate occasions) on Killer Instinct, MK2, SF Alpha, SF Super Turbo, even SF Turbo. There was a sense of 'hardcore' about the gamer's in those arcades, esp. in the one with 4 Tekken 1 machines. If I remember correctly, Super Play (the old skool snes magazine) was made in Bath and the writer's/reviewer's used to play there games in the arcades in Bath. Shame the scene has died a death nowadays. The Manchester scene isn't what it used to be, TBH Tekken 5 in the Namco station and Tag in Piccadilly Amusements are just keeping their head above water!

Actually those two trips (I was on 'holiday' with my mum and dad and a friend at there friends) really got me into fighting games. I remember dedicating myself to Killer Instinct after those trips, learning every glitch combo, ultra, shadow combo possible. Aaah, them were the days.

Could you get Capcom Fighting Jam for me? I'll text you my address, maybe you could text me yours and I'll send you the cash (actually maybe a cheque?) I'll have a quick look for any new games on liksang as well.

Chris, when will you be able to order the RAP in the new year? (Obviously in the new year! /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif).

Firstly, before I take the inevitable dive into the cess-pool occupied by RandomHajile I just want to say cheers to Chris for hosting the last meet and that I had some good matches with everyone (except you Dan because you're so damned easy to ring out /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif jk).

I'll probably forget most of what I was going to say since I just read about 10 pages of crap all in one go but anyway......

When I came to London I had lots of games against lots of players and from what I remember I won more than I lost. Take what you want from that but it wasn't a house full of crap players it was people like hatim, ryan, g-ho, jun, knee etc etc... I like to think I did ok.

Now I'm not trying to say I'm "da vf king" or anything but it pisses me off when I read RandomHajile and others trying to put everyone up here down just because we don't live in London.

Random, I know you're a VF god and all (and who wouldn't be if they had "your kid bro who is better than Chibita and excellents everyone he plays with his back to the screen using only one hand" to play against) but seriously, did you even play Shaun when you were here? Did you play me? Why try and say people are crap without even having played them? Without being too condescending, from what I've seen and heard you're not exactly a top notch player yourself, so why come out and say people are crap who could probably beat you?

You also seem to have something against Shaun for using a pad or something (and probably against me too no doubt) because obviously, if you can't play a game in the arcade then you must be shit at it right?

Just doesn't really make sense....

Aside from all that crap, the threats of violence need to stop. Just pack it in, there's no need for it. That goes for you as well Mike, and why did you drag me into that little outburst? It was laughable at first, but it's starting to get annoying that nobody can speak without the threat of having "their face broke".

Anyway, aside from The Godfather of Soul I like everyone I've ever met while travelling to play this game and I hope nobody from london is offended by my comments earlier on. Just ignore him, it's too close to Christmas to get a translator for that shit, everywhere's sold out.

He wants to degrade your VF skills so just wait 'til you play him next and shut him up by beating him into oblivion.

Of course, you'll probably get 50-0wned because you're not from London. And if you're not from London you can't be good/decent/half-decent etc... at VF in this country.

Ignore what anyone else says, your Kage owns your Sarah. I switched to Wolf because I was having a hard time against your Kage in the first to 5. You were using a lot of things I didn't even notice you could do before. Just simple but effective things like backdash, dK+G to beat my ETEG (catch throw is nice for that too). It was good stuff man, stick with the ninja, it's all about the ninja.

One thing I did notice though was your tendancy to use the same option in certain situations. Like when your ufK+G was blocked you were using dP all the time. A good option, but I got a few free ufK+Gs of my own on you just because I KNEW you were going to dP.

That was meant to be constructive criticism btw so don't take offence or anything. I just find it helps when someone points out flaws in your game for you to work on.

Overall though, nice play. I enjoyed playing you and Dan the most. Probably because Lion and Kage are 100% non cheap characters with good honest moves that are hard to apply. None of that piss-easy, broken Akira, Jeff, Jacky bullshit.

(Akira)+(release G after 1 frame) = only throw counterable? WTF?

Just wanted to point out, Andy you now have the Jagged tail for Kage (came up as the first mission vs Lei!) and Dan you do have that monumental "Can you... keep up... with my speed?" winning pose, you need to press ++ to get it.

Andy do you want to keep your Akira and Goh files?

As it looks, when we do play at mine again we can use Denise's (my gfriend's) tv anytime we need it, so we only ever need someone else to bring a ps2/copy of evo/cables as opposed to worrying if Will can bring his tv. I'm clearing out my room a little so there'll be a little more space next time.

Depending on work, I'd like to try and start holding sessions once a month or so, I really need some human comp to improve against.

I'm back in Manchester around the 15th Jan (home in Liverpool atm) Ade and I'll order your RAP sometime around then I guess.

I think that Lion pose is actually K+G because it's one of his old ones. dP+G is funny too though....

I definitely want to keep my Goh file but if someone else wants my Akira then they can take it. I still use him but only casually now. Might pick him back up on a stick but it's just too much work on a pad now. My style seems to have changed and I can't adapt it to Akira /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif.

Kage is where it's at anyway.

 

Kage V Sarah

I actually much prefer to use the Ninja, I was at Mye's last night and he was canning my Sarah like a little biaach. By far the best fights me and Mye had was my Kage V his Lau/Wolf (I actually think it ended 7 all against both Lau and Wolf!).

Yeah, backdash d+k+g is great with the ninja, beat's ETEG and is not throw counterable on guard (like it is up close) and it's half circular! Kage in totally not cheap shock. Been coming up with some new Okizeme stuff with him.

Andy, I totally forgot to use BK + with the Ninja, that is now reinstated in my movelist. Dan had some great tense games as well.

Oh and my Tekken 5 Paul is now on 2nd Kyu, I am planning on getting him up to the dan's before Christmas day. Plus I've bought a part of the White costume for him (It cost's more money to buy white or black costumes than the other colours unfortunately).

I'm working on someone new in Tekken as well, I better get to Zaibatsu.

OK, this may be classed as a bump, but just hope all the UK VF Crew have a cool Christmas and New year (I know it's on another thread but still). Everyone take it easy, Chris, I expect some decent Julia play on Tekken 5 in the new year LOL, can't wait till you get your Julia Card. Ade, back-turned is the shizzle. Huge ass combo on any hit, nasty evasive shenanigans and +5!!!!! on guard. Only drawbacks are it's speed and linearity really. I use it for oki sometimes by doing back-turned crouchdashes until I want to unleash it. A good thing to remember is if they guard it then fastest timing will beat any attack they try and delayed will beat their evade.

Chris, sounds good. Why don't you ask if we can use the big room again?

LMAO!

I figure I could put up 3/4 peeps in my room (1 in my bed, 2/3 possibly on the floor for the night if necessary) or even 5 or 6 if no one wants any sleep and I'm pretty sure one or two could crash in my mate's room next door. It might give Mye a chance to come and play too.

I'll put up more info when I've thought about things a little more.
