    Chris, use my Lau if you want, I don't use him that much now (he's still a v.cheap character), but am mainly learning Kage/Sarah (as per usual). Have been learning some post throw setups with Kage/Sarah, but still got a lot more to learn.

    Considering using Lion, Wolf and Goh, but that's still in the R/D stage at present.

    Are we gonna be going to London to play sometime next year? That would be cool (although we would probably get beat BADLY).

    Das, if your reading this TODAY (Sat.6th dec), I'll be in Jenny's in about an hour (the time is 1.50), if you wanna meet)., or if anyone else want's to meet.

    When is the next meet gonna be, in Jan next year? Better get practising. /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif

    wtf? Why does pad play = cheapness?????? When you can DLC on a pad any time any place (like Elite does) then maybe you can judge.

    Andy: To be honest I've only been messing round with Lau for a laugh and never planned on using him seriously. Aoi, Akira and Goh (maybe Lei Fei) are my main guys so don't worry I wouldn't be too hot with him at all. Funny thing about the ultimate battle game.... theres an Akira wall combo that actually takes your entire life bar (due to extra wall damage and floor damage... though probably requires a counter hit to start it).

    Ade: I'll change the name and get some items and that for the Lau file.....just wnated to mess round with him for a bit. Just thought too, you've never played my Aoi or Goh before omly my Akira and shoddy Lei. Next time we'll have to sort out some "new" match ups. btw the date will probably be about the 20th of January now just to give people some warning. Well that kinda time anyway. We'll make it a saturday. I'll try and post more info about the last tourney soon but it WILL be up in at least 2 weeks time as I'll be home then and have unlimited access to the interweb.

    I don't see how pad play is cheap unless you're using shoulder buttons for throw, [P]+[K], [P]+[K]+[G] etc...

    It's well documented that crouch dashing is harder on a pad than a stick and when my main two characters are AKIRA and Goh I don't see how that's cheap at all.

    Chris: Amateur Lau's are still a bitch sometimes as long as they have decent basics. Shaun's chinned me with him a few times /versus/images/graemlins/mad.gif.

    Shun watch: He's easily my fave character now (warrior rank) I am definitely looking forward to trying him out against you all. I think he is ruining my other guys though since I keep smashing on all 3 buttons after knockdowns with Akira and co to "drink" instead of pressuring. /versus/images/graemlins/crazy.gif (sucks especially with Kage since I keep going into bloody jumonji stance)

    Would it suprise you to learn Ramsey uses Lau full time (like Jacky)??? I've just been experimenting with him solely as I've never sat down and really appreciated him at all, just written him off as cheap. He has some nice stuff but theres no way I'll use him in any tournament.

    My Aoi is slowly getting better too now. Watch out guys as I've been getting use to how to time reversals when on the floor (she can reverse light down attacks like kick or punch) plus she has some nasty sabki/inashi/throw stuff to mess round with. In some ways Goh is like a stonger harder hitting version of her (without all the [P][P][P][P][P][P][K][K] type stuff that is). Going to try and get my Lei back up to good form too. On my personal file hes up to Warrior with the ace blindfold and farmers straw hat. I may not own with him but he looks fucking class when you do a combo!

    I bet Ramsey spams [3][P]+[K] with Lau like he does [7][K]+[G] with Jacky /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif. I'm so crap against Lau usually, I hope he isn't too good lol.

    I was gonna pick Aoi a while back since I liked the idea of the reversals but the [P][P][P][K] style shit put me off her. Still, the guard cancels give her a nasty twist. The reversals when you're on the ground only work when the hit isn't guaranteed right?

    your next meet is in jan right? Will it be a tourny for cash or without. Or is it just a meet where you just play each other? Also what do you think the skill level is now ie how good are you guys? Me and my bros use the default setup for the controls except r1 is kick (i use t4 hori stick but for pad i just use the face buttons). what do you guys use?

    I only ask since i think me and bros will have ago at playing some of u guys although we are really not that good. Should be fun if we can go but it is unlikely so im just making sure what we are in for if we do go. Also i'll bring a video cam to record matches but my pc doesnt let me record the sound on the tape so if the matches get put up on the net then they wont have sound. btw do u guys have vids anyway of your meets?

    We don't have any matches on the net, but LOADS recorded on Memory Card's (a entire memory card if memory serves me correctly!).

    Chris, could you set up Brad for me? If poss. get his nosering an mohawk (in the first arcade)

    Mike: I forgot, Jax has 54 wins on tag in jenny's (I wasn't there!). /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif

    It's meant to be for money next time but I doubt anyone would mind if you wanted to make it for free with it being your first time. We usually mess around for a while before we play any kind of serious tourny so you'd have a chance to feel us all out first.

    We use X as guard, square as punch and triangle as kick. One of us uses something different at the moment but we're trying to convert him (with little success). Everyone uses a stick except 3 of us who are pad players.

    As for how good we are, well I can't really judge how good I am myself, someone else will have to answer that but I think there is a variety of skill levels at the moment. The quality of play seems to have improved since the first meet which in itself is a good reward for bothering to attend.

    How likely is it that you'd be able to make it? I don't think it matters how well you do, if you lose it'll help you improve and if you win then it'll make you feel good /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

    Re: The Manchester showdown: 20th or so of January

    Sorry not posted for a while been busy:

    Andy: Aois reversals only work when she is lying on the floor "in line with the opponent" as it were (actually to be anal they're really sabaki-reversals as they do no damage but leave your opponent with their back turned). So if you do Akiras [3][P]+[G] I can't reverse it with Aoi since she'll end up sideways on to Akira. Say if you did yoho>DLC and then ran up to [3][P] me then I could reverse you then (provided I hadn't hit a wall etc) but the timing isn't like a normal reversal and you have to anticipate it as she lifts her knee slowly to do it.

    Ade: No probs you can have my Brad file as he's already customised a bit.

    Mr Man: Hmmmmm to be brutally honest I'd class ourselves into three tiers:

    TOP: Elite, Shaun(Elites little brother)
    MIDDLE: Ade, Darius
    BOTTOM: Me, Nakura, WackyJacky (Will?)

    Well something like that ... I mean I think everyone has beaten everyone else at some point in warm ups and that and most can give a good 5 round fight but these are what I'd say the levels are in one on one (ie no ai) VF playing.

    We could make the next meet for fun again too if you wish. We've had 3 so far , first was poorly attended (3) next was better (7 at first) last was ok too (6) but I'd like to hold a lot more after christmas when I can sort stuff out.

    Oh yeah out set up is:

    [G]=cross
    [P]=square
    [K]=triangle

    If you want to come along please use this !!!!!! (no shoulder buttons or multi buttons allowed etc...)

    Re: The Manchester showdown: 20th or so of January

    thanks for the info

    what kinda sticks are people using? If it is a sc2 or vf4 stick i can understand the current button config but anything it just odd. imo for pad it is wierd if you use your fingers a la tekken but the layout suggests people using pads use their thumbs? I mention this since i sometimes use pad. anyway my t4 hori stick layout goes like this ...

    top row from left to right is
    square, triangle, R1
    bottom row
    x, circle, L1

    vf setup is guard is square, punch is triangle, r1 is kick,
    x is punch and circle is kick.
    (this is default setup with the exception kick for r1 too)

    therefore its going to be hard due to arrangement of my buttons on stick (Form a right angled triangle square being the right angle)but i'll the config ago next time i play.

    btw whats circle used for? How did you come about deciding on this config? do you have room for me plus my 2 bros? Any chance of changing the config to default as it wouldnt affect people on pad, sc2 sticks or namco or t4 horis (Dont know about vf sticks (3 buttons)) ? If not then thats fine. me and bros dont mind playing for money as long as it is not too much so you dont have to water down the meet cus it will make us practice harder so we dont lose our money lol.

    Re: The Manchester showdown: 20th or so of January

    The config we use is the ONLY one that makes any sense and the one that is used in the arcades worldwide ( ie G P K layed out in a quarter circle.... check the logo on the command list pages and you'll see what I mean). So thumb is guard, first finger is punch and second is kick.

    I use a SC2 stick and Ade and Will use a Namco stick with all the same layout. 2 of the pad users use the config too and use their right hand as if they are playing on an arcade cabinet. Shoulder buttons suck man!!!

    btw the arrangement of those buttons is just the same as the sc2 or namco sticks so you should n't have any difficulties in using our config. Trust me when I say is the best way to play VF.

    This is the default config. Sega fucked things up when putting VF onto ps 2 for some reason.

    Pad play without shoulder buttons is sodding hard imo.

    The only thing I'm not sure on about the button set up is that it kind of screws anyone wanting to use a hori evo stick. But hey, shit happens.

    About four of us seem somewhat keen on coming down, hopefully we'll all have the spare cash for train tickets and such come the actual time of the gathering.
