Wow /versus/images/graemlins/blush.gif ok I didn't mean to offend with the team thingy. Team Edinburgh it is then.

Well me and slimadey are definately guaranteed for it, as is Will I think and presumably Elite, Shaun and Darius as usual. Not sure about Nakura or WJ. I think at a push we could get maybe 3 teams on the go, obviously we could have more teams with less people in them too. Then we'd have Team Edinburgh A amd Team Edinburgh B or something /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif.

Anyways I wait to hear from others about confirming whether or not they can make it.

Back from America at last. Actually I've been back for a week but haven't been to work so this is the first time I've been able to check the board. Good to see there isn't a meet going on as I'm reading this. 7th of Feb is a sound date for me and Shaun so I don't see why we can't come and whoop you all, just kidding. I'm actually playing reeeaaaaally badly since I got back, I guess not playing at all for 2 weeks doesn't do you much good.

Looking forward to this meet since (hopefully) more people will be turning up. Pairs wouldn't be a bad idea, but if one person in the team loses is the other guy out too?

Anyways, this one sounds like it'll be a blast.

Actually yeah, Faded if you're reading this, how exactly are team matches played out as none of us have played them before?

There are two ways you can do it with pairs that I'm aware of.

If you want both players to be sure of a game in each round. Then team 1 and 2's first player play each other and then the second players do the same. If neccessary a third match is then played between the winners if they are from seperate teams.


Second (and imo more fun way)
More traditional team battle method, as players lose, the next in line faces the player that won the last match until everybody is eliminated. This means it's possible for the first person on a team to go through all his opponents without his team mates getting a match. This method is more suited to 3v3 and I've never tried for teams of pairs. Can't see how it would work any different though.

Either way each player has to lose at least once in order for your team to go out.

Sounds good to me, I don't mind carrying someone to victory lol. On the first method you'd both have to be good with the same character though right? If so I'm liking the other one more since I'll probably end up teaming with Shaun, and we can't use the same guys.

Should be a laugh either way.

Hmm yeah I like the second method. Think at a push we could maybe have 4 teams of 3 say. I'd need to hear from other people yet as to how many we could feasibly have in a team.

I'm sensing me, Nakura and WackyJacky could be forming Team Born-To-Lose hehe. We shall see...Ade would you be up for Team LMA??

Ok guys I can confirm Will will be making it and will be bringing a guy called Rick with him who plays Brad. Looks like I'll be trying to get the big room downstairs for us then (btw theres a free (crap) pool table nest to this big room, a couple of can machines, a table football game plus you can smoke so peeps won;t be bored at all waiting for their own matches.).

Ade is it ok if this Rick guy has your Brad file now?

If we're gonna use that big room is there a tv in there already? If so you could always bring yours downstairs and someone (me if you want) could bring another ps2 and a copy of evo. Might speed things up a bit if the Scottish crew end up coming down, it might take forever otherwise (although the team thing would probably help too).

I still suck ass at the moment by the way. Did WMACII 5 times yesterday and got beat in the first fight, all 5 times /versus/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I think I'll be hardcore practicing on my days off for a while, is it gonna be just one character in the tourny? It'll help to know in a bit in advance so people can concentrate on their main guy.

Haha LOL.

Yeah theres a massive tv (it is actually supposed to be a communal tv room) but its on a bracket on the wall. Unless peeps want to break their necks by looking up to play all the time I was going to take my tv and ps2 downstairs and set it up and Will is bringing his own ps2 and tv as well so w can have two matches on the go at once.

The sytem file will be copied onto two of my mem cards. Obviously it'll mess up stats a little bit but if anyone wants to takes stats seriously theres plenty of pens and paper.

Yeah I think for the tourney:

PLAYERS CAN ONLY USE ONE CHARACTER

and it can't be swtiched once started. Just to make it clear. Obviously for the mess around fights players can use who the hell they want to.

I need to practice too but I've got loads of exams looming. Good thing is they finish a week before the 7th so I have a week to get loads of practice in. Come on guys we need to give the edinburgh crew a challenge!!!

I'm actually more worried about coming up against Shaun in the tourny. Since I got back he owns me every fight. Either I've got really crap, or he's got really good. Actually it's probably a bit of both. Of course if Faded and his gang end up giving us all beatings then I'll have to eat my words.

I think I'm gonna stick with Goh for the tourny then, concentrating on one guy might help me get up to par again.

Oh actually could be 4 Gohs....might bring my Bub file out of retirement. Then again could be...Dural /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif (just kidding shes banned ok no one get any ideas! /versus/images/graemlins/mad.gif /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif).

Actually could peeps try and add to this thread the chars they are more likely to use? Would make things easier and fairer to sort out and not mean players suddenly pull out some secret char they've been training away trying to slip everyone up!

Well guess I'll be using Akira or...Aoi/Goh/Lei.

I've just heard from Rayne too. He should be at this meet but I think hes dropping Lion in favour for Kage so he'll have to be "default Kage".

Will will be using Goh and Rick Brad as they are the only chars they really use.

Also I think that stage selection should be agreed by both players too. I don't want Kage players going for easy victories with TFT etc. over and over. Lets keep it clean this time fellas!

I think random stage select is always the way to go. With restart if you get the palace stage. TFT ringout is part of kage's game and his movelist was obviously designed with that in mind.

I mean no offense but by not going for a tft ringout when the chance is presented, then let's be honest I'm purposely handicapping myself. It's insulting to the both of us if I don't play to the best of my abilities just because someone can't watch ring position and/or break tft.

Hmm yeah i can appreciate what you're saying about TFT...but I think most people were getting slightly annoyed last time when slimadey was ringing out peeps from almost the middle of the arenas!!! (some of the older stages are smaller in area and even in some of the new stages its too easy to just keep skanking TFT).

You'll notice (when you play him) that slimadey actually has a very nasty mix up game with his throws. Simply entering + non stop won't save you!

Normally on stages we just select ones we like and agree on. For the tournament though I suppose it is best to switch it to random select like you say.
