Any chance of a breakdown of win/loss vs records/matches to watch?

As for Driver...well in my eyes the "classic" series/games of the playstation era were Tomb Raiders, Res Evils, MGS, Tekkens, Silent Hill, Drivers, Final Fantasys (even though I wasn't into them at the time), Gran Turismos, Crash Bandicoots/Spyros, Ape Escape etc Probably loads more I can't think of atm.

Anyways only about 50% of the good psone games have made the transistion to ps2 well. So many games promise so much and get 70% of the way there then crap out. Tomb Raider was an odd one. TTT PAL was bad as was T4. Driver 3...the cutscenes are amazing, so well done but the on foot sections are a joke. No blood when people are shot. Poor control and camera angle. Poor gameplay. When it comes to "crime games" GTA owns hands down and I hope game developers give up trying to beat it as no one yet has managed to produce a competant rival to GTA...maybe True Crime but I've not really played it.

Silnet Hill has gone from strength to strength with more things being implimented each time round. The FF games have expanded and so on. The platform game shave done badly in comparison to Jak and Ratchet and Clank etc.

GTA San Andreas shold be good but again its shaping up as the same game over and over again. 3 big parts to explore, each a rip off from a real place. Gang wars and propery ownership return. Hope theres plenty of new little features added. Hmm random rant ends here.

Will, if you're reading this are there any items you want for your Goh file?

GTA3

Apparently in the new GTA, you can hire people to do drive-by's for you, that kick's ass. There's also a casino in it (blatant ripoff, but that's cool!).

Yeah, the 90's era of PS1 was cool, I especially remember FF7, Resident Evil 1 (in the main hall for the first time, that was a stop and stare moment, well for me), US Time Crisis was gamelplay wise arcade perfect and later Silent Hill really freaked me out (especially as I was a hospital porter at the time and was on the hospital section, that was REALLY freaky). Actually, Silent Hill even outplayed by Imported Japanese VF3TB which I had bought the previous month (Feb/March 1999), that's how much I LOVE Silent Hill folk's! Aah, I still remember getting VF3 with the DC Arcade Stick. I miss the day's of no recovery, I really do!

Shaun: Well Done for kicking ass in Scotland, I could tell you were a serious contender for the premier spot, well, at least from the kicking you gave my fat ass at Mike's. Was Andy using Akira or Kage or even Goh in the tournie?

BTW I've not got that free week on the 23rdJuly to the 31st July anymore, SORRY MIKE AND WILL! I'm still willing to go down after work on a friday and come back on sunday night, so let me know!

Nice one I checked out the thread before. atm your Jacky is 9th Dan and I'm only missing one item you want for him. Then I'll finish off getting Jeff to champion. btw I'm curently compliling a list of Jacky combos with all stance/char/hit info etc so I'll pm you a copy if you want or maybe post it here.

Yeah theres loads about San Andreas in PSW...juts hope they take out some of the more insanely infuriating style challenges/missions.

Winters shaping you well though...GT4 sometime, Res Evil outbreak, then Res Evil 4 (no real clue when), MGS3 looks unber-fucking-leivable, SH4...its all go.

 

SH4

Can't wait for SH4, that's gonna be freaky! /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif (Hopefully), I'm can't wait for the multiple ending tastic freaky chainsaw bonus weapons then a obscure UFO ending! That's what SH is all about.

Resident Evil Outbreak is gonna be cool, but I really can't wait for 4, I wan't to be better than my favourite in the series (2) with B scenario's. That would be freaking awesome! Itchy, Itchy!

Playing the guitar

If you're learning to play guitar, pick up any guitar mag you see on the high street. Total guitar is usually best since it covers well known songs. TAB is really easy to read once you know which line is which string (low E is bottom line, then A, D, G, B, E on the top). If you're just starting out make sure you have a nice thin set of strings (10s or 9s maybe) and don't worry too much about barre chords at first, concentrate on open chords down near the fat end of the neck and build the memory of the shape of chords into your fingers. Being able to change quickly between chords is also a must. Practise slowly and regularly (2 hrs straight once a month is useless...30 mins a day is great...or how ever long you can play for at first). You have to be very patient at first as sometimes it can seem almost impossible to nail that Dsus2 change to Fminor7 but keep on plugging away.

As for meets...unless Andy and Shaun organise one in Leeds or something the next Manchester meet may be as late as september...I want to try and hold one here in Liverpool but I'll have to wait and see.

Yeah SH is where its at but overall I probably prefer Res Evil. When I get the bonus zero weapons you can copy my save!

if you want a good beginners book, then just buy one that says something like, "Guitars for dummies", or "guitars for beginners". just look through the book,s contents, if it has stuff like
"basic chords"
"simple arpeggio"
"strumming for the first time"

if it has stuff like that, it should be ok. just make sure that you don't just buy a book full of tabs, coz unless you can read tab quite fluently, otherwise it is useless.


in the tournament, I used Jacky, and Andy used Kage. have convinced him to start playing as Goh again.......

Yeah I'll give you a shout when I've finished it. Found out some evil wall stuff with him and a nice 91 pointer vs LWs on counter. The depth and number of ways he can combo is crazy and the mixups he has in his series make him such a hard char to play against.

I sold all my old beginners guitar books ages ago so I can't even remember what they were called. They're always about the same level though so the choice is normally down to cheapest for what you're gettin out of it.

 

ResEv V Silent Hill

I probably prefer Res Ev as well, but Silent Hill games freak me out a lot more, although Resident Evil has been more PURE 'Survival Horror', whereas SH will get inside your head, especially with some of the obscure puzzles that everyone has to resort to scamming off Gamefaqs to solve (Come on, everone has done it, don't lie to me, I can smell a lie like a fart in a car! Looking forward to copying your save file for Res Ev 0! (I've forgotton how hard 0 is, Leech Hunter is one hard bonus scenario, defentley aimed at decent Res Ev players! /versus/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Shaun: Surprised to hear Andy using Kage in the tournie (although PLEASANTLY surprised, mind!). Does Andy use him as his 'main' now? I could post some of my home made TFT combos if you want?

On a side note, I've just started at the Gym in Manchester, so expect a thinner and more buff Slim at the next meet!

 

Silent Hill

I'll admit that I never cheated on SH 1 or 2...only looked at online help for bonus weapons and same for SH3. Once or twice I've had a walk thru in a mag for the res evil games so I sneaked a peek to give me a bit of help but for res evil and res evil zero on gc I did them all by myself.

I've always meant to join a gym in manchester but then I never really have much time to get out an exercise. I've been braking my back out in our garden at home now so thats my main source of exercise, bar my weights of course.

Might be geting a job in manchester soon. Hardly any decent jobs in liverpool but I may end up working as a clerk for manchester uni for 6 weeks soon...slightly ironic in that when I get my summer hols I could be back in manc for ages.

 

Back in MC?

It is quite ironic that you might be back in MC early, but if you are, time for some VF! Darius isn't really into VF, well, that's the impression I've got from him. He seem's impressed by Tekken 5 (As do I!) though, so we'll see.

I've made a concious effort that I'm NOT ALLOWED to look at ANYTHING to help me on SH4, even when I get on 'hard' mode riddles.

The Gym I go to in Manchester is really cool, loads of Fitness Trainer's (Not that I use them!), loads of weight aparatus, step machines, running machines, TV's, you can even plug in headphones while on certain machines and listen to the radio! It's also an experience going in a Sauna for the first time. I'm going tonight as well, tomorrow AND Friday! (Maybe even on Sunday as well! /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif). I've got afeeling I'll be going there in the morning's before future MC meet's, Chamone!

MY Lau is starting to get hella better and he feel's 'natural' to use now (as opposed to a character I felt pushed in to using). I'm gonna have to make sure I get my juggles for Lau down Versus: Akira, Kage, Jacky, Jeff and Lion and start to come up with some charter SPECIFIC stuff (not just juggles, but studying other's chracter's flow chart's and punish holes in them EG: Moves that end high or low and going under or blocking low and punishing them!)

Yeah, the only thing is I'll be commuting 5 days a week from liverpool, so VF meets would still be out I guess. I can't afford to move back to my place over the summer (AND feed myself!) so I'd basically be getting the bus/train in and out each day. Well, that is if I get a job there and so far I've no idea about it and received no word back.

As for SH4, the only way I play SH games is lights out, door open a jar slightly and plenty of black coffee to keep you awake till the early hours. Feel the horror, FEEL IT!

Lau can be very nice to use though...after finish with the system file he, Aoi and Goh will be my secondaries, maybe Jacky/Pai too...do I need to tell anyone my main ??? LOL

Hope Das gets back into the swing of things we can't afford to lose players!

I'll try and get Das back into VF, we do need more player's.

Silent Hill is much better when played in the dark (as does Res.Ev!) and doesn't feel as good in the daytime.

Maybe you wanna stay at mine on a night when you don't have work the following day? Play some Res Ev as well, try and clock Res Ev 0, or play Res Ev1 (GC) on invisible or Real Survival?

Haha as for real survivor and invisible mode (and one tough zombie) I nailed them last summer...too much in fact (played it none stop!). Invisible isn't too bad but Real Survivor can be a nightmare.

As for your sig, yeah get Becki out. At first, in some strange way and only like once or twice a program she'd look quite hot...but then having gotten used to here now I don't like her at all. She's playing the "be nice to everyone" game and can't possibley bond in the group. Plus she's not hot so...OUT!

I'm getting back into the Res Ev's on the Gamecube at the moment. Chris, Do you know if there is a limit to the amount of time's you can save when your trying to get fast time's for bonus weapons? Is it me, or is 0 REALLY HARD, even with stuff earnt from Leech Hunter (All I've earnt a pistol and the closet key thing) still, better than nothing! I'm really in the mood to play some Res. Ev. NOW DAMMIT! I guess I can work off my stress in the Gym!

The good thing with fast times on 0 is you only need fast times. You can save loads. Under 5 hours gets you the smg, under 3 and a half (I think) gets you rocket launcher.

Thing is it's impossible to do it wthout inf hunting gun. You'll need to do leech hunter again and get around 70 leeches or so.

The trick is this...Enter the hall and grab items from the corridor on the left as you go in (the bathroom, n other room) 2 leech zombes are there. Leg it out and dump them but keep rebecca wth all health stuff. Go downstairs to where the lighter puzzle was with all the animals. Take out the hunter with pistsols and check the first 2 rooms for a grenade launcher.

Then clear the whole bottom part of monsters. Then fo to the room where rebecca fell from. The Shotie is there with some ammo and shitloads of hunters. Next go the room on the others sode of it and take out the rabid monkeys to get the smg or magnum. Only use the smg or magnum on hunters/leech zombies. You'll need a fire key too but that varies in position. Waste all the monsters everywhere, dump weapons and go round collecting all the leeches, green for rebbeca and blue for billy. When you get to 90 you;re in trouble as monsters re-generate.

ok, all that music is WANK, and it will create a totally un VF ambience, so i put the following idea to you. i will bring a shit load of real metal CD's, and you guys can choose what we put on. metal will be really cool, coz it will add a real hardcore feel to the meeting, and when Akira lands that Yohou combo as the drums kick into the chorus, and then, as the song hits the last riff, both characters are going for the final hit which will decide the whole match!
(plus it saves us from having to endure Yazz)
