[Anyways (scuse me going off topic for a moment.) maximum, seems it's very likely there's going to be another gathering next wedensday or the one after. (He's not sure which day the wife's away yet). Hopefully you can make it.

Did I mention I beat vosor this saturday? /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif (He did of course hump me the rest of the time)

Nice one, I'll be up for that.

Also, well done beating vosor. Your game must be even scarier than usual now. /versus/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Nah it was sheer and utter luck, and it was also purely by the skin of my teeth. /versus/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Ok guys I'm back in Manchester now typing from my departments sloppy computers.

Ade I hope you know which Spar I mean now as I think we had crossed wires somewhere. Its NOT the one near Oxford Rd. station. Its on the same side of the road as it though. You walk along it ( past all the Metropolitan Uni buildings ) away from town and towards curry mile and you'll come to it after about 5/10 mins. Its just past a small corner pub and next to a stationary box. Its underneath the precinct walkway across the traffic lights. I should be meeting you there about 5 ish and don't forget your stick/memcard/money etc...

Dan and Andy who are coming by train, sorry bout this I forgot that there are actually 2 Jag warehouses as well but don't worry they're well apart from each other. When you get the taxi just be sure to ask to go to the small jag warehouse, at the end of Oxford road, just before curry mile, on the corner of oxford place, opposite a big park and just slightly past a small tescos ( near a new block of flats too ). Tell the driver this and he'll definately take you to the right place. Dan don't forget your mem card and anythimg else you might need. If theres any trouble leave a message here. Hope to see you friday guys. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

    I'm out.

Shit came up at work and I can't get the time off. (it's great when your boss repays you for all the favours you've done him eh?)

Anyway, it sucks but I'm sure you'll survive without me.

Chris: If you set up another one of these then let me know straight away so I can actually book the time off and not rely on him to not be a jackass about it.

    Have a blast guys.

Okay thats a shame. I'll let you know as soon as I even think about organising another one Andy.

Hey Nakura. Glad you got internet but thing is I've no phone or anything in my room. Its real big but very quiet and hardly anyone around ( 4 peeps where I live ). If you wanna find me sometime I'm on Upper Park Road right at the very end of it ( on the way to Hulme hall ). I'll be in touch about meeting up.

    Re: The "big" Manchester meet

hello i'm new here and i live in the north too. I live in Preston which is about 25min drive from manchester. I recently purchased evo for 18 quid which is good and i really like the game cus it is very deep however it is also insanely frustrating too cus of being technical. Anyway since i'm quite local when i have time and money i probably meet up with some fellow vf players in the north. However that might be while since i'm looking for a job at the mo lol.

I had vf2 for the pc but i couldnt do some of the harder stuff on the key board and in vs 2 ppl on the keyboard usually jams cus f the limited amount of inputs. Then i lent vf4 for a while and liked it a lot, i got good with lion but then i had to give it back. When i heard of vf4evo i decided to wait for it instead of buying vf4. Nearly a year and now i have it. I use goh mainly but now i'm trying to relearn lion and all the other characters i used in vf4 like wolf, vanessa, and most of the other characters.

Just curious but what do guys play besides vf. I Mainly play all types of fighting games 3d or 2d but the main ones i play are tekken and guiltygear x2.

Btw good thread, i have been looking for people to play in preston on the net for a while and nada. the closest place where i know there are players is in manchester but i have to find the time to travel and stuff.

We ppl in the north are usually not as good as the players in london and other southern regions like birmingham etc cus of lack of players but it seems that in other forums there are players in 3d games like tekken and sc2 but hardly 2d games which i play too. Also lack of "big" tournys but that i think is gonna change. Over at tekken zaibatsu forums theres talk of Absolution coming to the other regions around the uk. Absolution is a big tourny in the uk, kinda like our version of evo and has been held last year at luton and now the 2nd tourny in london near xmas. It has vf4evo as one of the main games so hopefully if theres a northern Abs after winter abs (london) then i might see you guys there and possibly a future meet.

Hi Mr Man, are you the guy that played in the Tekken 4 nationals last year? (Played against Phil the black guy in the final).

It'd be cool if you came to play VF, we all seem to b able to play tekken, but I'm pretty much going full steam ahed with evo (well, in recent month's at least!), but just PM me or Chris when you wanna meet.

Hi phil, i was at the manchester regionals but my bro knocked me out early and he played you in the final with a wierd char selection ie yoshi lol.

While we are the topic how come you couldnt go the london finals on jan 2003? Mike who took your place won the finals and i played a lot of matches back at the hotel on t4 and ttt with him ,is he your mate?

Anyway i would like to play the manchester guys at any games you have not just vf. Mike has offered to play me but i havent had time nor funds to go manchester. maybe when i have a job,car (i could get the train instead)and money me and my 2 bros will come and play. Occasionally we go to trafford centre with the family and while my parents are shoppin we go namco station but the sticks are american sticks so it hard to play with them. Like you said i'll pm you guys if it ever happens lol.

    Sorry but who is chris?

And what do you guys use as controllers pad or stick? For some reason i prefer pad over my stick but that probably cus the layout. Anyway i might go back to stick if it is better as it usually is.

    Re: The "big" Manchester meet

Sorry to be confusing Mr Man, but I'm not Phil! Phil is my mate (he's studying at Salford uni) and I'll let be speaking to him at the weekend. I kno Phil bought SC2 for his Japanese PS2 from Computer Exchange when he wa in London, he wants quote 'a casual fighting game to master', which is fair enough (he is in his final year I guess).

Phil should have gone to London in Jan 2003, but he still won a widescreen tv, so it wasnt too bad!

Do you know Umer, the mishima obessed tekken player? He's an addict to GGX2 he can do some crazy stuff! I've tried playing it, but it's a bit too off the wall for me. I was at the Manchester tekken tournie in Virgin, (the big fat guy in a suit), wish I could have played at that tournie, there was some real crap player's there.

The majority of people I know prefer stick's to pad, I would never dream of touching evo or tag with a pad, it's sacrilege!

    Re: The "big" Manchester meet

oh i remember you yeah the guy in the suit. i know Umer i met him when he went to the london finals, he kind of dissappeared off tz for some reason after that.

The manchester regionals were funny though my lil bro was stuck talking to some player for quite a lot of the tournament, a bald guy from bolton who was drinking beer . Anyway my bro was kinda scared of him lol.

About sticks for evo maybe i need more practice on mine.

    Re: The "big" Manchester meet

Umer disappeared of TZ because he was dissing everyone on IRC, his own fault really!

Mike actually blagged his way into the Tekken tournie at Virgin, pretending he had won a heat! You gotta repect someone for doing that, all that it was hella risky!

I've not seen Umer for 3 months (and counting) but bet he's still a Tekken addict.

As for NOT using a stick, I suppose it's everone's personal taste, but I can't imagine using Akira on a pad (All those diagonals!), but I've been playing fighting games on a stick for about 5 years, so can't imagine NOT using one.

    Re: The "big" Manchester meet

    Word up dude.

I'm Chris btw the guy who organised this thread. The meet we're having is this friday at my place in Manchester (26th-27th). Theres literally only gonna be a handful of us first but hopefullly through word of mouth etc we'll build up a decent gathering. My original idea was to try and get loads of people intersted and get them all together, hire some place out for the day buts its easier said than done. Me, slimadey(Ade), Nakura(Steve), WackyJacky(Ramsey) and Darius all live in Manchester (well during uni time that is) and so thats probably where any subsequent meets will be in the north for now. Rayne(Dan) actually lives In Cheltenham but hes getting the train up to mine on friday. Theres also Elite and pinking who live in leeds and a few other guys on here that I know of in the north.

When you get the money/time etc then let us know when you're free to play. I also play a bit of Tekken but not much. Played T3 and DOA2 loads then got into VF and played a bit of TTT and T4. If you're serious about fighters I'd reccomend you get a good stick, especially for evo anyways. Keep in touch and let us know when you're up for some VF action.

Hey guys, cant beleive that the big meet up is in 2 days! Chris-have u got a mobile? I may have asked you this before, if u have could you please email it to me, thanks. Need to sort out meeting up. Cheers. Oh and I have decided, since it has been a while since I had a working stick I am gonna stick to using a pad for this tourny. Next time I will have sorted out my own stick but it would be too confusing to switch to a stick right now. Hope thats ok (and not too lame) /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif !!!!

    Re: The "big" Manchester meet

chris, yeah i'll try to spread the word using the net like i did for ggx2 so us northern ppl get a big scene started.

Btw i'm a stick user i have a t4 hori stick but i just find pad more comfortable for vf4evo which is wierd. Maybe it is cus the other buttons are in the way and the layout etc.

Anyway hopefully me and my bros will see in the future at meet or a big tourny (Northern Absolution 2004)

    To both:
    Yeah this all sounds good.

Rayne sorry but I don't have a mobile and atm I am only reachable via email. Dunno if we'll continue with the "mini tourney" as theres so few but we'll be sure to play a load of games. Basically I think you'll be getting the train to Picadilly station. As soon as you come out of it theres a taxi rank. Just ask to be taken to the small jaguar warehouse at the start of curry mile and the driver should know what you're on about. Its just at the end of Oxford Road and on the corner of Oxford place. Me Ade and Darius should be there about 5.30 or onwards. Don't panic if we're not there immediately though. Bring your mem card and any money you'll need etc. See you soon.

Hey Mrman that sounds cool. The more we can get into VF the better though if you have a Hori stick I strongly urge you to use it on evo...IMHO its the only way to play it.

Mr Man, You have a HORI stick and won't use it? PLEASE use it, you'll soon see the difference. Damn, I'm jealous, I wish I had a hori stick! (Ah well, at least I have a namco stick!).

To Chris, I'll see you at Stat.Box/Spar on tomorrow (Fri) at 5.15.5.30.

Ade. I'll bring my stick, mem.card, and clothes.
