Right I'm ignoring matches between you and Andy and you and Rayne for obvious reasons. I'm posting this to defend the reputation of the other players.

Now, are you going to dispute these facts? These are all "serious" matches btw I've ignored the ones you threw against Ade a few times.

Are you now going to turn round and say all these losses are because you were essentially "letting" the other person win or were messing around etc?

Are you going to say that in these macthes when you lost it was because of this..or that...or you were trying something out...If you're going to say that, I'm going to lose all respect in you.

Look at that fucking record! Only 10 loses in "real play" over the course of 7 months that's fucking top shit.

Why?

Because you're a good player and no one is disputing the fact. Sure as day follows night, sure as eggs are eggs sure as Will young is gay, you beat most in our group a large majority of the time. No one can dispute that.

What I am disputing is you saying that some players can't beat you when they have in the past, plus you seem to think you "know" what I am thinking too when you don't. I've never judged which is your better char Jeff or Jacky. As far as I care they're both fucking strong.

Now, is this going to be the end of it all? I hope so, as I don't want the thread to turn to pointless flame wars.

That recent thread is essentially 15 pages of flames from people talking about how good they are at VF.

yeah, i think i must have been seeing things when i said that you said my Jeff was better than my Jacky, don't know where i got that idea from.

as for those fights, i can't actually remember them, but i am pretty sure that i will have been doing whatever Andy would have been telling me to do at the time. (he often calls for the hit throw on block that Jeff has, or the Kiss of the Dragon, which it the time i could land maybe once in twenty times of trying, where as now i can get it 9/10 times).

also, if you look at those stats you just hurled at me, did i ever lose the fight? no. so why did i lose the round, i will tell you how my mentality works in those situations:

i get a victory with real ease, so i try and be flashy or do something that actually required inputting skill, result, i lose.

i get another victory with ease, and so repeat the whole process.

get it?

the next time we play, if any of the usual crew (chris, ade, das, steve, ramsey) can beat me in a first to anything you choose, then i will take back these words, as then you will have proved me wrong by beating me, but until you beat me, (and by this i mean, you come off better than me after a set of fights), stop trying to argue any point about being able to beat me when you have never done so. (a few rounds or a few fights do not constitute a win, unless we were playing first to one win, or fist to score a round.).

and as for the knowledge thing, i would never claim to know more than you, in all honesty, i don't think there is a sole alive that knows more about the game than you. (unless there is one guy who gets to make all the frame data when they make the game, but i dont think that even the guys that made it will remember it all.).

i wouldn't claim to have more knowledge of the game than everyone, it takes me a good ten minutes to remember why i am not on the advantage after i block a high punch, or why i can't land my biggest float after getting counter hit!

as for the part where you said i would come up with excuses:

if i am playing shit, then on the day you beat me, you were better than me. (this means that this is not a valid reason for losing)

i have never throw a fight except to ade when the cheat was here (so this is not a valid reason)

the only one out of the reasons you give that are valid, are when i am obviously not trying my hardest to win.

here take a look at this.

if i am try to do THE SAME MOVE OVER AND OVER AGAIN because it looks flashy, does this mean that i am trying my best to win? and that if you beat me, you are able to beat me when i am not trying to do the same move again?

if i am obviously not trying to just get the win, then can you honestly say that you can beat me just coz you picked up this particualr win?

Chris, when Shaun says "you can't beat me" then I don't think he counts winning 1 or 2 fights in a match as beating him. In all of those results you posted he came out on top (although I do remember Ade 3-1ing him at least once). I've got to agree with him to a certain extent as I myself think it's easy to lose a fight here and there, especially if you're trying out weird shit that you wouldn't normally use.

It seems like a few people in here are becoming a little oversensitive, as someone pointed out to me earlier...

Now, at this stage of playing VF I don't recall you even using him much. I found it harder playing your Jeff than your Jacky. I'll stand by that statement as it was in the context of FUCKING MONTHS AGO! Nowadays I've not really rated what your best character is, like I said before.

The last time I beat you in that 1-3 fight, you certainly were not spamming the same move and messing around. You even said to me something like,

"You did well today, you pushed me to 4 fights"

(as we were playing first to three).

Now, I know these may not be exact words but you were suprised I took a fight off you, you even said I'd done well. Are you saying that in fact, you let me win and then pretended to praise me for taking you to 4 fights? Were you attempting to take the piss out of me/ patronise me or were you actually playing properly and suprised that I had beaten you in a fight? Being sarcastic/patronising/taking the piss out of people you win against is one thing that's just not needed.

If some random guy on the street decided to patronise me/take the piss there'd be fucking trouble.

If you're going to claim you didn't say this now, you're lying through your teeth.

I can even recall back when you didn't want Ade to play cos you didn't like playing his Sarah! You even moaned when he showed up at the next meet. I'm sure Andy'll back me up on this.

If Shaun had stated quie clearly, "None of you have beaten me outright in a league stage fight" then that's all good and that's true.

He said we couldn't (implied we hadn't) beaten him and that wasn't true.

Anyhow, I don't recall ever holding a gun to anyones head and getting them to come to manchester to play. I invite people and I organise things. People come if they want to and don't come if they don't want to, it's that simple.

Hi everyone. Havent checked the board for months but I see that Elite2 is still whining like a little bitch. I had been very good at just letting him whinge away cos I didnt think it was really worth it but if you're still doing it now after all these months then what am I supposed to think. Everyone on this board thinks you should just shut up about it so why dont you. In response to the shite youve been coming out with:The shoulder buttons was how I was used to it, if you think its hard to press 2 buttons together as though I would have been unable to do that then well...you're obviously wrong.With that set up I couldnt do throw escape guards because you cant keep your finger on block and release punch if they are both the same button. Hello to the rest of you, hope you are all well, have completely got used to my arcade stick now and have improved my game. Not sure if I will be able to make it to the competition due to Uni but when I can I will and have a few friendlies. Elite2ont let this turn into another lame slagging tennis match, I do respect you and Andy its just that something needed to be said. Bye all.

I’ll probably regret getting involved in this but what the hell.

Shaun, you’re a cool guy and a great VF player, no one is disputing this. What I don’t understand is your constant need to justify yourself when you loose a few matches. Isn’t it fair to accept that you’re a great player but not perfect? If another player wins a round against you, making a score tally to 3-1 instead of 3-0, surely this player deserves some credit for doing so? Saying that the reason you loose the odd game is because you’re “messing around†is kind of lame but also insulting to the other player.

If I wanted I could claim that all the matches you won against me were because I was hung-over or not concentrating, but I wouldn’t because a) that isn’t the case and b) I fully admit my skill at VF is leagues below you (and most folk for that matter /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif ). Roughly translated: I kind of suck at VF /versus/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I don’t think LM is questioning your prowess at all, but he wants you to accept the few rounds he has taken from you were won fair-and-square.

Glad to hear you've gotten use to the stick too, I'm sure in some aspects it's helped your game (plus you ca now play it in the arcade!)

Everyone who's ever lost to you could "claim" that they let you win and weren't playing properly. Of course it'd be total nonsense and insulting to youbut it's just as much nonsensical and insulting as saying "the only reasin you beat me was because I was goofing around/trtying new stuff/doing what Andy said to do (what??? how is that an excuse??oneone!!!) whatever.

when i asked this question, i was only unsure of weather you thought my jeff was any good at all. it doesn't matter when it was posted, my jeff has never been better than my jacky, and as this is the only statement you have made about which of my characters are better, it's not really that unreasonable for me to think you still hold this oppinion, because the last time we met, all you and ade did was bitch about how "overpowered" jeff was, but you made no comments what-so-ever about jacky, so, with all these factors taken into consideration, is it really that "out of context", to make this point?

ok about adey boy, like i said, he was hard for me to beat when i first played him, (by this i mean the first meeting), and so at the second meeting i did pretend to be all pissy with him (you have to understand that i was never, nor am i now, acutally pissed with anyone). but after playing against sarah at home, and figuring out what was going wrong (as well as listening to Andy's advice), at the second meeting i realised that it was infact Sarah who was the problem, not Ade.

as for this patronising thing, I CAN GUARENTEE YOU THAT I WAS NOT PLAYING WITH THE UTMOST INTENT OF WINNING. i think that Andy told me that it seemed to him (and it did seem like this to me, mostly down to ade's "whats the fuckin point" antics after Andy kept creaming him with Kage), that you guys were kinda getting pissed off with losing, AND, he told me that it was pathetic of me to go all out, so i thought that i better not piss you off too much or you wouldn't invite me anymore.

On a random note I've been experiencing loads of shitty bugs recently. Things like moves physically "going through" people when they have there back turned and doing no damage, falling "through" the floor near a the edge of a ring and doing super high floats (eg MC yohoing a jumping move) and then all follow ups of the combo miss completely.

Hmm time to evolve to FT I think.

atm FT is out in the Japanese arcades and there's tourneys/events etc being organised for it already.

As for home release, specifically PAL for Europe, I'm pretty sure there's been no word yet.

yeah, i have seen those bugs myself, (just goes to show that even now, the game still has problems). I WANT A FINAL TUNED COPY AND I WANT IT NOW.

do you think that if we all write letters to who ever it is that decided if it gets put on ps2 or not, that they will think:

"well, if ten people from the North of England want the game, then lets spend godzillions of (japanese currency?) and get the game out there, by tomorrow!".

i think this has a strong chance of working, how say you?

Yeah, that's a plan that's almost craziest enough to work!

Now, if it's anything like what happened with Evo, the game could be in the Japanese arcades for ages before being ported to home Japanese consoles. If it does go to Japanese console though Ade would be able to run it on his ps2.

I'd imagine if it did go to home Japanese consoles and was then to reach America and Europe, it could be after several months. In fact we got Evo long before the Americans did.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I've saved a few of those crappy bugs on reply too, I'll try and sort them out for next time, some of them are just ridiculous.

I have about a billion and one replays from all the meets coupled with these crappy bugs ones I saved so it'll take ages trying to sort things out.
