Not wanting to stir up an argument here or anything but what the hell was all that about?

If there is going to be a better Sarah player than you in the tournament then so what if he's in your group or not? People are still going to be able to watch both of you and form their own conclusions anyway. Surely you know there are ALOT of Sarah players better than you out there right? Will you act like this every time you have to play one? If I end up with a better Goh/Kage/Akira player than me in my group then I'm not going to cry about it. It just seems a little pathetic to me to be so bothered about how good you look in front of the London crowd. If you do well, then great well done. If you don't do so good I hardly think anyone is going to think any less of you.

It seems insulting to Chris and everyone else for you to be complaining about this. Would you like to swap groups with me? Would you like to swap groups with Chris? Would you like to swap groups with Shaun? I doubt it.....

Chris: If you get anymore of this kind of trouble then just seriously pick names out of a hat man. If group A ends up 5 london players and group B most of our group then people will just have to deal with it.

 

Groups

I think (touch wood) atm things are ok as far as groups go. I've been in touch with a few london guys to check out how to grade the london players and so far things are fine with regards to the groups.

I should add now that Geewai_ho is being added to Group D.

The whole reson for sorting out the groups like this was to avoid the problem of peeps travelling miles and miles to play people they do all the tme and to ensure that in general, the better players go through and aren't knocked out early a la last time when lot's of good players met early on.

Fingers crossed but I think the present situation is now ok with pretty much everyone.

If there are any more arguments about things...well we'll have to take a poll as to who wants to do it randomly on the day. I hope it doesn't come to that as I'm trying to sort things out as fairly as possible, whilst making sure everyone gets to play at least a few new faces in the group stage.

Hi everyone, hop everyones ok. Thanks for the text Chris, didnt realise Ryan Hart was coming. I am definately gonna try to make it up there, think it shouldnt be a problem if I say fuck it to uni.Shaun and Andy I see you have been playing with Akira a fair bit recently, are you using sticks? I found it a pain in the arse doing modified crouches on a pad.See you guys soon-ish. Dan.

I've always used Akira as one of my main characters, Shaun just pisses around with him occasionally.

ade, i don't want to argue with you (again), but about looking shit or whatever, if you play rubbish on the day, then it doesn't really matter which group you are in, your still gonna embarass yourself. and if you play well, your gonna get recognised. don't have ago at Chris about fixing groups, when you have both Will and Steev in your groups (and in the nicest possible way), neither of these people are top-quality. you have a fair chance of getting through, but if you look at the groups carefully, you will see that they all have good players in them, and no matter which one you would be in, the groups would be very hard. just accept the fact that there is some top class competition here, hell, I don't even expect to get passed second round, and i one of the better players that are coming. but whatever man, you can start shit up with me if you want, but leave off of Chris, he has tried his best to make it so that the 'best' people go through, WHILE keeping everyone else satisfied.
btw, i would recommend you using Kage in the tournament, coz you have played him longer than everyone else, and your list of TFT combos is impressive. (plus, Kage is top tier, and Sarah is light-weight, meaning HEAVY damage from floats). failing this you could pick Lau and go on the all out offensive.

as for the random thing, it certainly is FAIR, but i prefer the way it has been done as it is. it means that, as you progress through to the next stages, the competition gets harder, wheras if we do it totally random and we end up with a group with the five best players in, and then another group with the five next best players in e.t.c., then we could end up with a final of

Ryan Hart V Chris (whatever your last name is???)

and no offence to Chris, but there is no way that he is the second best person in this tournament. i think Chris has tryed to make it so that the better players don't all eliminate each other in the first few rounds, which in my view, is a much better idea. phew............

all this being said, Dan, i am not using a stick, and i gave up on Akira coz (as usual), i got bored playing against the boring computer, and playing with a character that i don't really know how to use against Andy results in three perfects and a booby prize on Akiras head!

I was thinking about using Jeff in the tournament, but then i realised
i didn't want to lose so i think i will stick with Jacky.

i was wondering if people whould be willing to post-up WHO THEY WILL USE IN THE TOURNAMENT. coz i want to know who to practice against.

I will be using Jacky.

btw, Chris, if the groups stay as they are, if i win my group and Ryan wins his, when will i have to play him? because i know that if I come second and he comes first, (or the other way around) i will play him in the second round, but i want to know when i will play him if we both win/both come second.

I'm sure if you both win your groups, by the time you would have been playing him Steve will have knocked him out so don't worry about it.

I'm undecided on my character, either Goh or Kage.

I would recommend Goh. more of the better players will be using Kage, so if you use Goh, it will give you the advantage of people being less prepared to fight him.
plus, Kage looks nothing like a real ninja.

Yeah but Goh reaps the bowels of sucktitude. Kage is the king of safe moves. I'm leaning towards ninja goodness but who knows.

i refuse to play against shauns jeffry or andys goh, both use weird moves that always cunt me in the ass /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

really hope i can make this, enjoyed the last one. ill have been at keele uni for two weeks at this point and will prolly be looking for a way out! and i turn 22 the weekend before /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks for all the words and feedback everyone.

Shaun, if you and Ryan were to win both your groups, the only way you could meet would be in the final or in the 3-4th place fight.

Basically, you come in C1. Then you play A2. The winner of this plays (B2 v D1). If you beat the winner of that fight and Ryan had progressed in a similar way via the other offshoot you'd meet in the final. (That would be some final.) If you both lose in the quarter final you'd play off for 3-4 place.

If you both came second in the group...then it's the same story as the top 2 of each group go off on parallel match ups and can only meet again in the last 2 fights (final and 3-4).

I've actually been thinking about using Kage in the tournie, cos as Andy said he's 'safe move city' which is true, although I'd also say he's 'half circular' city as well and just how abusable is LOL.Kage can also make his opponent get up backward's in so many way's it ain't even funny.

While saying that, Sarah is a bit of a 'frame advantage' whore TBH, all of the moves that go into flamingo stance give HER the advantage, even on fucking guard, no wonder people hate flamingo as much as they do and to make it worse flamingo is IMPROVED in FT, WTF? (Although I'm not complaining! /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif)

I'll probably also use Lau/Jacky for a laugh in the warm ups, they really are dry motherfuckers.

I already have an idea of who's gonna be in the final (with Ryan of course!) but I'm not saying cos I don't want it to go to their head! /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Weirdest thing is, if you use Sarah, they might only be 2 Kages!!?? In fact there might not even be any depending on who Ryan/Andy/Random decide to use.
