Sup guys, new to VF5 but having a blast learning about it. I live in Norcal. Gilroy to be precise (bout 30 min from south san jose if ya don't know).

I'm primarily a Tekken player for a couple years but I haven't been to a sesh in a while. Going to be picking up VF4Evo (as Renzo said I should) to the hang of the game. Maybe in a couple months time if you guys get a sesh together I can play with you all. I'm maining Sarah atm.

FS is sure a long ways away though.

Oh ok. My bad. I didn't even check the "Re:" above the post. I might be down to play VF5 again at some point, although I don't know how well it would prepare me for FS.

 

Checking in for the norcal thread. Total newbie at VF but will be up for gatherings. In hayward and go to SJ on a semi regular basis.

 

Hard to get too hyped when:

You have a lot of Japanese classes and want to learn the language. (also work 30 hours a week and need to swim 2 hours a day)

You know that even if we set up a session, most people will cancel or we are required to go out in the middle of fucking nowhere to play.

You already played FS and know it's just okay.

there's a place in san mateo called gamecenter ex. it's an arcade and they also have a room for console setups. there's even a few people there who have shown interest (as in have sat down and chosen a character) in vf5.

this is the new age son, we on that next gen shit.

i ain't gonna lie. i'm pretty hype for fs even though it's a long ways away. hopefully when it comes out we can all play like the good ol days and even meet some of these newer dudes who have shown some interest.

like i still go to alot of fighting game gatherings and random tournies for sf4 but i always had the most fun just chilling playing vf with all of you bums.

hopefully since sega has the cabs at their headquarters in sf that they bring the game out to like southtown arcade or other local tournies to demo the game and build up some hype. norcal has all the resources with places to put the game and have competent and newer interested people who would play it as well as a means for people to watch via iplaywinner stream. i'd hate to find out sega just keeps the cabs in a closet for year or only demo at mainstream events like pax, e3, etc.

also, i just realized that when fs comes out, it will have been four years since i first played vf at your place. holy shit

It's not VF4 Evo or FT. While I don't mind the loss of throw directions (and love the removal of zero-frame throws), as a (former) Jeffry player, the new system favors some characters just fine and others not at all.

I hate the side block mechanics and I do not like the new combo system (even though I took great care in taking advantage of it with my Wolf/Taka/Akira/Pai/Vanessa/Aoi/Jeffry cards). Also execution for moves has become really easy for everyone (maybe because I played so much?).

Akira is being scrubified even more so. If you thought he was retard simple if VF5 (he his), he is 10X that in FS. Easy damage, simple to understand, some of the best mixups, his throw game is much better now, his stance is fucking scary with what you can do, yada yada. Basically he is an easier to learn Shun in terms of being too fucking strong.

Aoi, while greatly improved from her VF5 days, simply isn't to my liking. She just feels off.

Goh... I miss the simplicity of evo-ft era.

Jeffry is poopy.

Vanessa finally feels like a complete character with each stance now, and I simply don't like that.

Wolf is also more fleshed out, but is a lot of fun regardless.

Taka... he will be my main reason to play if I ever start again (Wolf being #2).

I haven't seen much of FS but apparently Eileen is now the worst in the game. I'll prolly switch over to Lion for this one.

 

PFFT... Eileen is fine and has a whole lot of new shit. And "changing your main" won't matter for much if you don't go to gatherings.

Okay fuck it. It's been since March since I've played FS, and last May since I played Vanilla.

Anyone want to set up a gathering (preferably in SF or with Bart Distance)? I can't host as I have no console/sticks but I feel the urge to take people to waterworld 33P+G.

 

yo sebo, my friend in san ramon is hosting an ae/3s session around 4ish till whenever today and said i could have a dedicated vf5 setup there if anybody wanna roll through.

vf5 360 version with 2 high grades and asus monitor and hella booze and me = best day or saddest cry yourself to sleep day ever. i think 1 other dude who plays vf might show but if either of you show i will mostly play vf.

I've been conscripted by my family to come to a hiking trip, which is cool, but not VF.
