Instead of poring over the tiniest details of European/Anglo/American relations, it'd probably be a good idea to focus on the hard realities of foreign policy. Just a suggestion.

It's fashionable to hate American even in America, so why does Norway suddenly lose the right to poke fun? The key is to not be so sensitive to what popular culture produces. It's all there for entertainment value to begin with: the sincerity of it all is questionable at the very least.

    Do you hate 'Merica, Boy?!

I would not equate criticizing American foreign policy with "Hating America."

George W. Bush and his fellow right-wingers may equate the two, but I'll not.

    YOu see,
i dont get that.. the book goes on about bush..
since when didnt america utilze more than the rest of the country ?
Plus the rich of any third world country abuse and use more than their fellow counntrymen.
I think also that is why a lot of people came to america, to use what they cant in their home coutnry.
well, we can go back and forth on this topic, i am not disputing what you say, just that our evils are in more of a spot light than anyone else because of our position, and rightly so.

I still say, if you're parents (and my parents) left their 'horrible' countries for asupposed better opportunity (not coutnry) ,, why dont americans do the same ,, leave this bad country for a worse one ??
are immigrants the only ones that have to learn to migrate or can't americans (repbulicans / dems) who hate how the country votes on issues, cant learn to migrate as well - not like you cant ever come back ?

The EEC countries account for just over half a billion people, the non EEC countries for at lest another 400 million.

    Do your homework.

Actually, the population of the whole European Union is about 380 million, so Western Europe would be even less.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But not everybody is in the European Union, including much of Eastern Europe

    [/ QUOTE ]

My point is that Western Europe has far less than a billion people. And all of Western Europe is in the E.U.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I admit I was wrong, not as wrong as you are but still, its entire Europe that has around a billion people not Western Europe.

I have allot of respect for Norway as a nation. It's one of the richest countries in the world with a population of only 4.5 million. The bulk of it's income comes from oil and gas reserves. To any imbecile who thinks Scotland is better off in union with England, just look to Norway for evidence of why this is utter bullshit.

But I digress.......to get back to the point, Norway is a staunchly Christian country, and to that end has very strong ties with the west and USA. Anti-american sentiment from here should be taken as a sign of just how strong hatred of USA has grown over the years.

Unless American starts engaging the world responsible - hint: start by signing up to Kyoto protocol you fuck-heads - I seriously think you're wankered further down the line.

Hating entire countries is BS!! I used to live in Sweden (hmmm...). And those Norwegians are totally F'ed up (not the whole country, just the ones who are like "Graaa!!! Stupid Americans Ja!!") Don't just go hating people when they haven't done anything bad to you, I hear people saying, "ohhh, poor people without heathcare, DAMN AMERICA!!" I agree, it's kinda unreasonable, but if you really want cheap healthcare move somewhere where they have it and don't complain, America does what is has too and wants too so they can keep the country running. I see nothing wrong with making money, buisnesses do it all the time!! If they didn't, there wouldn't be any emplotees, same goes for Medicare, Would you rather have Trained Docters and Surgeons and quality medicine and pay a lot, or some bum with a butterfly knife and a peice of bark, but not have to pay anything? Sorry for trailing on that subject... But anyways!! Don't hate America for trying to run it's self!

    Numbers

    [ QUOTE ]
I admit I was wrong, not as wrong as you are but still, its entire Europe that has around a billion people not Western Europe.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The only thing I said that was inaccurate was that the E.U.'s population was 380,000,000. That number stuck in my head from a disagreement with someone from a couple years ago. Other states have since been admited to the E.U. and thus its population has grown by about 70 million. I was off, but by a little.

    You however said:

    [ QUOTE ]
Western Europe has roughly a billion people on less land then the US, over 15% of those people are immigrants ranging from people from the old colonies to North Africans and Turks in the last few decades.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is wildly innaccurate. If the E.U.'s population is 450,000,000 and that number > the population of Western Europe, then the population Western Europe is actually a small fraction of what you said it was (around 1 billion).

Thus, percentage-wise, my error is dwarfed by yours.

So when you say "I was wrong, not as wrong as you are," you are actually making another inaccurate statement.

Yes, i think that is what the arguement.
we want to agree that we are all stupid f'ers and only look to what makes our world happy,, and either like it when others point out the same thing or dont like it when others point out the same.
either way, we're all f'd up and we all chose where to live permanently.

By the way, American students from my University (in Finland) were all democrats and none of them want to stay in USA after they graduate. How swell.

To be fair Neonomide, alot of the students that travel abroad to study really are doing it because they want to see if there's someplace they like better than where they live at.
