I think everyone should come to Ohio, I'll hook them up with mad lodging and 24/7 gaming like no ones business. That includes VF4 evo but is not limited to it, and we are planning to go to FSB so Cappo and yall should be ready for Ohio justice.

Now I clearly remember why I stopped logging on and reading some of these topics. I logged on to see if there was any footage up from the gathering. But instead where there should be footage/clips. I find garbage. This is the media section right, or have I gone to the wrong forum.
Bah, anyways before I go I just want to say that I really had a great time. I can't wait for the next one. I would give my thoughts on everything, but reading all this BULLSHIT has really left a bad taste in my mouth. But I will say the one thing that I have been saying to the whole New York crew since I came back. I think that IMF is better than us in some areas and was the strongest player at the gathering. I won't go into details, because I don't want to start a whole new flame war. Ryan I would say you are the man. But you are just way beyond us. Totally a whole different level. BUT /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif, thanks to your philospy and the one thing you said that I just can't let go. I don't remeber your exact words, but it was basically "american players, play vf like their playing from a text book." I totally agree with you and that's why I hang out in the dojo more than ever. I can't wait to face you again, we will have MUCH fun. Before people go ripping what I have to say to shreds. Let me make sure you understand that I am not putting anyone down. Just calling it like I see it.
So could we end the flame war and start putting up some footage already. Llanfair you got all the clips so start posting, before I come down to Toronto and hold you stick for ransom. :p

it's hard to think that ryan's really that much higher in play, back in the UK it seems as though his matches between the majority of the high class are quite even. (hell no am i suggesting me^^)...

i think that you especially omaha have a pretty impressive jeff back when i saw it in the last ver.C NYG3 vid... i don't really get to watch that many US vids anymore due to these busted codecs.

    mabye it's partly the phsychology...

ENLIGHTENMENT MOFOs. I guess our VF skillz are not second nature enough and our individual expressions in execution of moves need more coordination, huhuhu. /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Of course easier said than done. /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I already knew that just by the way some of the players on here talk. Like there is a certain way you have to play to win.

it's because VF is a theory based game.... that's the bottom line.

the problem is that many people try to plan matches or play methods too precise that they are hezitative and cannot deal with the pressure of people like ryan, the difference between ryan is that he relies on his own reflexes, and "think ahead of your opponent" methods... i assume baring in mind only the fundamentals of the system in matches.

not to mention he has bloody fast hands!!! /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The bottom line is the experience issue. Many of us play textbook style b/c we never had to move past it (ie competition that knows how to get around all of this stuff). I've only come this far b/c I've practically memorized the Japanese books on Evo. I can tell you the frames for about every situation but it still doesn't help if I haven't experienced it personally. For someone like Ryan that has played against the top competition in the world, he is already accustomed to quickly adjusting against these old tactics so he can focus more on the yomi.

That and some people need to get out of that “I know all the frame stats so that must make me expert" mentality. A lot of players put too much stock in certain things and tend to leave out the other things that are just as important. Being and expert player isn’t about just knowing all the flowcharts or frame stats, etc... It’s a compilation of everything. Flowcharts, Frame stats, Mix-ups and Mind Games, adapting to different play styles,etc... And then there’s of course experience, which is something most of us American gamers unfortunately just don’t have. Then there are some that say. “Oh an expert player would never do that set-up or fall for it so do don’t use it†Which is absolute B.S. In High level play anything goes. You play to win. No matter how old or simple the set-up is. Some people just can’t think outside the box when it comes to fighting games.

It is hard to think outside the box when we get to play

the same people repeatedly. what is more likely

to happen is you will get accustomed to your

opponents pattern and won't try to do things that the

opponents don't fall for. Suppose there are only 2

players in certain area. Two people will play each other

a lot and eventually get settled with certain type of

fighting pattern that works on their opponents. If there

were more players around like in our oriental counter

part, the chances are players get to learn how to deal

with many different patterns much easily.
