NYC VF Team Xiao Long Bao / 小籠包

Just wanted to be an early bird and find out if NYG still happens? I am convincing the wifey to partake in the event if it still exists =)

 

Nothing concrete yet but the next NYG is in planning stages.

 

What's the NYG?

 

New York Gathering. First big gathering I've ever been to and the most memorable by far.

I would absolutely love for another one to happen. I learned the majority of my VF just from being at that one gathering for a few days.

 

Sounds really interesting. It seems like a great way for a lot of new players to learn and experience the vf community. I'd like to go.

I support the idea of a gathering too. Any reason to play locally is good really lol.

Is anyone showing up to NL this Tuesday? I'm considering swinging through the area since I'll be somewhat close by.

 

There are going to be folks at NL on tuesday, always got VF heads there.

 

Definitely convinced this would be an awesome event. It'd be even better If we can get someone to stream the event. Even if we had streamed weeklies I'd think it'd be a good way to continue to promote ourselves.

 

There is talk of getting Tuesday night VF at NL streamed, but we have to figure out who can commentate for us. The gameplay would also have to be high enough level to get a nice amount of viewers. Without those two things the NL folks won't let us stream jack.

There is even talk of setting up a sort of league system where the top players are the ones who get to play on the stream set-up. The gameplay isn't a big worry to me actually, folks are going to level up and we got solid players over there. The biggest issue is commentators. We don't all need to be a shidosha/ash/chefboy, but we need some folks who can came every week and commentate. I can do it, and will hopefully keep getting better (advice on this is always welcome).

is commentating even necessary? all this commentating business is kinda meh. Im happy hearing the crowd noise / reactions from players.

 

I am fine with that too, but the folks at Next Level want it. I'll have your back if you want to try and convince him.

So how do folks feel about a bi-weekly tournament at Fashon 40? There are a ton of other fighting game people who already hit the spot up so it's great publicity for the game, and should be able to get more people interested in the game that might not want to trek all the way to Next Level.

I'm looking into possibility of getting it streamed so that's a possibility. It'll be Monday Night Fights basically. The stickybug monthly is good and all, but a more regular one is nice too.

 

Mashfest crowd at Fashion 40 is a very casual crowd. Don't look to them about competing in a tournament.

That doesn't mean we couldn't still do a tournament or stream matches, mind you we would have to run it pretty quick and probably only get one setup for the night.

 

It would be a cool way of getting us all together often also to ENSURE that offline Vf play still occurs lol!! Whether i play in most tournies or Not.. I feels good to all hang out crack jokes, talk shit and play a little VF with the fellas. I really want to get a Stream going of Exhibits matches with all of us. Not first to nothing or anything.. just a 10 game sets of Action in the early life of FS... sort of like a "VS Weekend"

 

They didn't look that casual to me, but I"m garbage at the other games they had there so I wouldn't know. They have internet there and I have a stream capable laptop. All I'd need are cables to hook up the sound and audio to my laptop. That I don't have.

We can just show up and do sets of 10 on our 1 set up. Last time I was there was had one set up and played from like 7=10. that's about as long as the 16 man NL tournaments takes, though that's with three set ups.
