    Great read!, thanks Myke [IMG]

I seem to vaguely recall Kamaage say in a previous post that he studied in Australia at one point? did he say anything about that? (assuming I'm not confusing him with someone else :p).

Sorry to hear about the wrist, should be hard (and expensive) to get proper medical attention if you're not from Japan or fluent in the language. Although probably still better than going to an Australian emergency room [IMG].

I just picture you asking for a doctor and the nurse coming out and saying "only for Japan" lol.

Alex, getting medical treatment was relatively straightforward. The nearest hospital was well equipped to handle foreigners due to their close proximity to ski resorts, so there were enough translators around.

As for Kamaage, you're right, he did study at a TAFE in Adelaide if I recall correctly. He's also visited Sydney in the past, but this was many years ago. I'm not sure if you're aware, but Itazan was *this* close to going to Melbourne last year for the Shadoloo Showdown event (for SSF4 of course). So I guess there's always a chance that us Aussies may be graced by their presence some time in the future.

Thanks for the read, Myke. This has gotten me re-hyped for Final Showdown again. [IMG]

Thanks for a great write-up Myke! Reminds me of the good old days when that's the main way we got info about the game...

Beats my hospital experience then. Small lac on my hand needing two stitches, with followup at the local clinic. Despite me speaking good Japanese, doctor wanted to try his English, which is fine for medical terms, but less appropriate when the conversation spreads to Hiroshima, and so on.

Hey Myke, I forgot to ask you... I'm new to the VF community and don't see many Goh top players. Did you see/play against any of them on that day? If not, could you name a few?

I know it sounds sort of off-topic but I felt like it was still related somehow.

Hi Myke, it has been soooo many years since I last wrote here. Thanks for the blog and I can feel raindrops touching my face. I should have read it earlier since on 19 Feb (the Jap National Holiday) I was indeed in Tokyo. That was my last day there after a week long family vacation before I headed back to HK on Sat. You know, I have brought my 10 years' old boy to Club Sega Akiba to experience FS on that day.

Too bad I missed the chance to meet you and share the intensity of the play with those great jap players. This makes me remember of the old vf3 days when I used to spend all my time with the crowd in Sportlands and Spot21 while my wife did her shopping. Those were the days and I pretty much retired now from the arcade but only causal player match on Live.

    since 3tb ... vf5

@T_Kang, I remember getting decimated by a Goh player but I don't remember his ringname, nor do I think he was a so-called "famous" player. The two most famous and somewhat current Goh players that come to my mind are Jaga and Porno. But I also recommend you check out the Goh videos thread in the Goh forum for some channels to keep an eye on.

@dickson, long time indeed(!) and too bad we missed eachother in Tokyo! So is your son an expert yet? [IMG] Catch you online sometime after I've recovered.

Hey Myke I forgot to ask how did you find the block stun animations. I know you're used to it from your vf3 exp were you punishing stuff instantly or did it throw you off?

@Jide, I don't recall being put off by it at all. The animation definitely makes it one of the easier things to "hit check", which makes it a bonus for learners to recognise opportunities for guaranteed counter attacks.
