I thinks they're just deciding when is the best time and place to show the pictures. Just remember this was a top secret, covert op. There are protocols that must be followed. Even for the capture of Bin Laden.

1) the capture of S. Hussein was different, the U.S military was occupying a foreign land with embedded journalists, it was not a covert navy seals operation. There was an open broad day light man hunt for S. Hussein as our soldier virtually went door to door.

2) Any piece of land where Bin Laden's body was buried would instantly create security problems for that location because it would become a holy-land-of-sorts, proof-of-a-martyr, and something so otherwise, something that would inspire al-qaeda or other (so-called freedom fighters) . Which country would want his body? There is time limit for when Muslims are buried
I think its less than 48 hours

3) There is no way the Obama administration would make this kind of Internationally viewed assertion if it were not 100% certain it was true, imagine if Osama were still alive, all it would take would be one newly recorded video or tape and the entire credibility of the Obama administration would be out the
window, and he truly would be a laughing stock, along with the shame that would be case of the Navy Seals.

Not that I feel bad that he's dead, but it makes me a little uneasy seeing people celebrating.

I would say no. He has already been replaced, and a lot of the younger members probably didn't know much about him anyway.

I'm familiar with the protocols and all of that... I'm just saying they went out of their way to say a bunch of things without having any proof or evidence other than saying more things to validate that what was said previously was true... Words can't always back words up, especially when it comes to a system that can easily be viewewd upon as "shady", especially seeing as the govt wanted to initially bury him in accordance with Islamic tradition which should've been within 24 hours, but the US decided that it would take too long to find a country willing to accept him, and blah blah blah, so they dumped him in the ocean!?!? Again, Saddam didn't get the same treatment, regardless of the type of operation done... Why should this be any different??? They wanted to bury this guy according to tradition--- the same man who is supposed to be responsible for 9/11 and then some... Wassup with that?!?!?!

Now that OBL's dumped in the ocean, there's definitely no real way to prove that Osama really was the one that was shot... Not to mention you have people stating that he died of kidney failure almost a decade ago... I'm not saying I believe that either. Real talk, it seems like this was the trump card to play right when the heat of this whole birth certificate/college records fiasco gets crazy hot, plus the whole 2012 campaign kicking off, and Obama really didn't have anything to show for in order to think about being re-elected... What better way to make oneself look good than to "finally" get the man we've been "looking for" for a decade and some change. Plus this grabs the public's attention away from worrying about the "Royal Honeymoon"...

Again, not knocking the fact that that dude needed his block knocked off, but the way things went down and the speed at which it happened, and the timing just seems eerie... People are already calling OBL the next Tupac...

Plus the whole "war on terror" thing is kinda bogus... Why are we warring against a concept, or even better, why are we at war against "fear"??? I understand the war on drugs, that shit is tangible... Cats smoke it, smuggle it, etc etc... Terror in itself is not something to war against because it like most things will never go away, unless you live in Mauritius where it doesn't even exist per sé... I mean back in 1776, England wasn't saying they were at war against terror... No, they were at war with America (or those trying to establish it)...

I'm honestly disgusted by the fact that people are celebrating a DEATH. No matter who it is, when someone dies it's not a cause for celebration. Now people are dancing around like terrorism is going to screech to a halt because of his death when there's most likely another waiting to take his place.

@jinxhand,
nawl dude, the US came out and proclaimed to the known world that Osama was kill 5/1/2011 and they gave the method. Now, if he died 10 years ago, or if he's really not dead all there needs to be is just one person with credible proof and that would be it for the Obama administration's credibility, also that would F' up the foreign relationship between US and the rest of the world for dozens of reasons.
Bin Laden is dead, he was killed on 5/01/2011 just like the Navy Seals reported he was you can take that to the bank. There is just way way way too much at risk otherwise.

Its the justice that people are celebrating. By Osama's own words he was responsible for several thousand deaths, families no longer with a father , a mother, a brother or a sister, grandmas, grandpas were killed on 911. Let's not mention all the human life that was lost and is still being lost in Afghanistan as a result of the war that Osama's Al-qaeda initiated.

Dancing and celebrating are in order, now there's just a modicum of closure for some of the family survivors.

@Tripsem think about it this way, you're criticizing people now for celebrating Bin Laden's death, while according to his beliefs he's in heaven right now fucking 70 virgins as a reward for all the infidels that he killed. So if he's gettin pussy right now, why is it wrong for us to dance around. [IMG]

Wikipedia terrorist attacks in Pakistan since 2001

Compound was built in 2005.

Look at the spike starting in 2007.

On some very rare occasions, you get to take out a bad guy.

Fuck yeah.

And if you need to celebrate life, think of those lucky fishes in the Indian Ocean who won't have to go hungry tonight.

Indeed, nicely referenced; however I will leave such quotes to those who are truly worthy of speaking them: Gandhi, Mother Theresa, Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela and any other non-violent person or persons one can think of. Me personally, I haven't reached that level of spirituality yet and believe some darkness simply should be removed from the face of this earth "...by any means necessary".

That kind of train runs in a circle, and it carries everyone to the oven - I guarantee, you run that thinking to its conclusion and you and yours will have a ticket before you know it.

I'm not suggesting he shouldn't be, and I'm offended you would even infer that.

But anyway. I couldn't possibly hope to understand what kind of closure this brings to those directly affected by the attacks of 911, but I do sincerely hope that it brings them some.

Being so distant to the 911 attacks I won't pretend to understand what this recent news really feels like. I'm more-or-less an "outsider" who has had to live in a changed world due to those events. Being of middle eastern appearance and subject to a large number of "random" spot checks at airports over the past 10 years is a minor inconvenience I've endured, but is absolutely nothing compared to how other people's lives have changed.

But as distant as I may be, I can't help but feel somewhat uneasy at the resulting celebration, especially when I see children who were probably not even born at the time of the attacks involved in these celebrations. I wonder what kind of environment they've been brought up in that has them celebrating a death this way. Are they any different to the children brought up in countries that promote hatred toward the West? That are seen on the News dancing over your or my country's burning flag?

Trust me that it is not a train that I would want to be on, but when a person kills thousands of innocents or is the catalyst behind such useless murdering then I am sorry such a person or persons should be removed from this earth.

Now you say with this kind of thinking that me and mines will surly have a ticket before I know it, Mmmmmh.... That must mean the 3000 plus Americans that died on 9/11 must have somewhere along their long lives or short lives felt like me. You Think...?

see that's the issue. no one person controls the definition of darkness.

if you want off the train, get off the train. teach others to do the same. it isn't hard just not common.

That's the exact same thing I thought the moment I woke up this morning and turned on the news. We did exactly what they did, laugh in their face when they've incurred a loss. Ok, 3000 lives lost and a permanent image of horror etched in all of our minds doesn't compare to the life of one murderer but what happened once we saw them shouting in joy as the towers fell? We wanted war, vengeance. What makes anyone think watching this won't invoke more acts of terrorism?

*sigh*
