    Re: humm...

Well considering DC only outputs 640x480 I'd like to see what you think of "high res" :)
The question I have is, does anyone have the specs to the VF3tb Arcade machine? I mean the tech specs for the hardware...the cabinet, as i understand, and the monitor and everything else is proprietary. The monitor wont work on any other board or any other game besides VF3. As though they had to rig it especially for VF3. I'm curious to know what they did and if I can mod it myself...if it's possible with the resources that i have that is.

For those who enjoy VGA DC, try getting a vga to BNC adapter and using the BNC connections on your Monitor...it'll look much better (me thinks in theory). But your monitor has to have BNC connections of course.

    medium resolution = 640x400

i own and have put together all of the arcade vf's, so i know quite a bit about the subject. and you can run vf (or any model game) on a vga monitor, but you need an upscan converter (vf3 megalo boards even came with vga ports).

as for things looking "better" simply by resolution...vf2 saturn had a resolution far higher than that of the arcade, but only a blithering idiot will tell you that it, in whole, looks better than the arcade.

i heard some woman had Bigfoot's baby, can anyone confirm?

voot's and vs2 arcade machines in the NA, as well as people who have had the many hours on both in order to compare them, and to make a neutral, well worded judgement on both are about as likely as what i just asked about above...

Most people know "dangohead" from gamefan is a hardcore VOOT player (especially in the arcade). He commented on the differences in his review and i echoed them above in my post. So he is among the few who's comments can be trusted regarding the conversion.

So you're telling me the monitor that came with the deluxe vf3tb cabinet isn't proprietary?

okay. but, i don't know him. and either way, it's still hearsay.

i'd be interested in hearing firsthand accounts.

    Re: humm...

medium resolution is a standard arcade monitor type. numerous games, by sega and manufacturers other than sega, use it.
VGA monitors are also slowing becoming a standard, too. naomi and naomi 2 will help that along.

Re: Everything I know about DC FV2

from the voot review: how did you ever manage to read "However, the hi-res textures make up for this flaw [fewer polys]" and take that as meaning "superior/cleaner textures over the model 3 step 2 version" ?! (?!?!?!?)

the vs2 review makes absolutely no statements regarding comparison between the arcade and DC, much less so stating that it's a perfect port.

Re: Everything I know about DC FV2

I distinctly remember him posting about VOOT dc when it first came out (import) on Hardcoregaming's messageboard. Everyone wanted to know about the quality of the conversion, and he stated wight away that although a few polys were missing, the arcade version had superior textures. I thought he would reiterate it in the review, but i guess he doesn't state it exactly that way. And unfortunately i can't find his post made over 1 1/2 years ago. But it was fresh in my memory cause i was concerned that dc wouldn't be able to do M 3 step 2 at all, but was quite surprised when he stated that dc version had superior textures and was missing a few polys. In other words a helluva lot better conversion than vf3tb - and that was on regular model 3.

Ooops, my bad. I gave ya the wrong link for virtua striker. I meant to give you the one for the PREVIEW - in which he does briefly comment on the comparison:

    http://dreamcast.ign.com/previews/13274.html

    The excerpt:

"What has remained identical to the arcade version, at least from what we can tell based on our limited time with the arcade game, is the graphics side. The DC version seems to be just as absolutely jaw-dropping as its arcade counterpart, with superbly modeled players, super smooth animation, and a gorgeous 60 frames per second refresh rate."

Okay I'll ask again, I dont mean what VF3 can output TO persay, i mean the monitor that comes with the HUGe vf3tb cabinet...i'm wondering if you know anything about that and why it's proprietary and how.

what do you mean by proprietary? are you asking me if sega designs and makes the bigscreen monitors on the megalo machines? (it doesn't!) are you asking me if this monitor works only with VF3? (it shouldn't!) whatwhatwhat?

    >the arcade version had superior textures.

i'm sure you meant DC version there..
should post this question on rgva, some vooters still lurk there.

    >"What has remained identical to the arcade version......"

    note the "limited time".
feh. we heard same things from online review people who said they had more time with vf3 and said it was even better or just slightly lacking, didn't we?
i wouldn't trust any of the online reviewers to find their ass in their pants.

I have a pretty good source on arcade related subjects who says that one monitor that comes with the deluxe vf3tb cabinet is proprietary...

I don't agree 100%.......everybody who saw sega rally, vf3, spikeout(slashout on naomi looks sort off empty in comparison..), virtua striker 2, scud race.......has to agree that probably dreamcast isn't as powerfull as model 3 in terms of polygons......but i'm sure that if you compare the textures you will see that the dreamcast has the advantage in category....

    brumm,brumm,brumm,.............were are the VFX-PICTURES!!!

Re: Everything I know about DC FV2

Well, i can say that i work in an arcade( during my spare time while studiing), we have both versions virtua striker 2(model 3)and virtua striker 2 version 2000(naomi).........I also have the game at home(2,version 2000)and i played it so much(during european championship..i'm half italian)that i think that i can say something about this topic........
if you compare the model 3 version with the naomi board you'll see a diffrence in the polygoncount........model 3 players look better(certanly more poligons)......but if you compare the textures you have to declare the naomi version ...winner............

brumm,brumm,brumm,......my greatest respect towards a good akira player...........
