OUTRUN for XBL is OUT!!

Discussion in 'General' started by Sudden_Death, Apr 15, 2009.

  1. @Sudden_Death: thanks for copying my mini review from outrun online arcade. my nephew, also a outrun fan, told me he'd found a quote from my mini review. as soon as i have time, i will also do a video review for outrun on youtube :) (my name there is also musicmaniac1965, to keep things simple /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

as most players might have found out, some of you gamers are to good for me, and kicked me down a few places :) well, i guess that could be my age showing, but i refuse to give up gaming becouse i supossedly have to be boring, and watch soap series instead /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif (hahaha, that will never happen !) so it's time to improve my smooth lines :-D but, i am satisfied allready, as a lot of young players online found out a "old geezer" could actually play the game on such a level. i also like seeing my tips helps other outrunners. the more players we get, the higher the chance sega alows sumo digital to release the outrun 2 tracks, and i certainly would love to see them as DLC.

oh, and this is my first post, be gentle /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif hahahaha. lol.

Hey musicmaniac1965! Just to let you know you're my idol!

Beaten my goal A score yet? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

    Ok bye!!

  3. lol, somehow i need more time ;-) i gues comming weekend i will have a go at it, because i need a lot of re run's to perfect my line. also i wonder how some corner can be taken even better. maybe finding new lines. to bad this version from outrun does not let you download the gost time from the best players huh ? that would be verry nice to learn to drive those courses more clean.

als, 1965 was the year i was born in, so i'm a rather "old"school gamer :) so maybe youger players have quicker response times :) (this may explayn why i like to set the sensetivity to its slowest for smoother steering :p)

haha! yeah ghost time download would be great! I'm with ya on low sensitive steering . I find it easier to correct my line comin out of drifts.

btw What do you know of this F40 fella? From the UK (I think) His scores/times are out of this world!!! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif

No way!!! The tip about setting the sensitivity to zero was awesome! That alone helped my control so much. So no, you're NOT losing your touch!

Forza vs Outrun = Fire vs Ice

    Night vs Day

    So different...

  10. that F40 player is just untouchable. also on the normal car time trials suddenly some japanese guy showed up from nothing, throwing wiz rdwhosaysni from the first place.

I'ma have to join the outrun boards I think. Get to know some of the players.

I'd like to race you musicmaniac1965 1 on 1. Send me an inv next time you're on m8.

My goal A score is still there btw, just waitin to be smashed! Now you're on the boards I can no longer claim to be the resident outrun champ /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

  12. that's always possible. anny problems my 2 nephews also join the race ? both j4cky and D3NN1S are also verry capable outrunners :)

I cannot manage clean lines with the analog stick. (The time trial achievements are killing me) Only missing the continuous mode achievement.

Yah, analog stick isn't working for me either... maybe I'll get a wheel.

I've been reading reviews for wheels and it seems the Mad Catz MC2 is the best bang for buck on the casual end of the spectrum. All if not most of the top Outrun players use some type of wheel setup - top accolades go to the Microsoft and Logitech models from what I'm gathering.

Any racers out there have suggestions for a good wheel in the 50 - 60 price range?

  16. to be honest, i still prefer the controller, as the more difficult bends (especially the S corners) can make you turn your car from all the way left to all the way right, and on the controller, it's just a flick in the opposite direction, as the wheel needs to be turned about, and so missing a few hundreds of a second.

have you tried lowering the sensetivity to zero on the options setting ? and make sure that A (green) is for downshifting, and B (red) is for upshifting. this makes the shift drift a lot easyer as you can just roll or slide your thumb from green to red (from A to B) hope this helps :)

otherwise i don't know the price, but both the mad catz (with gear stick !) and the microsoft force feedback wheel perform well with the game. only shift drifting on a wheel is a bit more fidly, as you need to pull down/up the stick on the mad catz, or use your left hand to gear down, and then quickly your right hand to gear back up with those flappy peddals.

i have tried the wheels a few times, but i still remain faster with the controller, even if the wheel provides more smooth lines trough long sweeping courners.

I use config E (I think /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif) You use the right thumbstick to shift gears /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

  18. no, i don't use the right thumbstick to shift, but the A and B button /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

so what's everyone els favorite controller and setting ?(just being curious)
