I had so much fun this weekend thanks to Throwmasta, his friend Frank, HammerHead and virtuaPAI. Great games on VF4 ver C and EVO. I felt so stupid that we didn't actually try to play EVO until the gathering was halfway over (long story..kinda).

Throwmasta: What can I say? The man has skillz with Wolf, Jeffrey and Aoi. I had the most trouble with his Aoi g-cancelling his attacks into throws/elbows, low punch into her MC hit throw, low punch into throw, Ying Yang stance evading and even Ying Yang stance throw-escapes. Very very nice. His Wolf is just as deadly. Starting a match with HCB+p is evil cuz it is so quick and often caught me on MC. Your EVO Wolf is even more brutal with his new standing throws, ground throws, and catch throws. Getting caught in a double german suplex hurts so very much lol. If I tried escaping with f and b p+g I was eating a df throw, and if I tried df throw escape I got KS'ed, Giant Swinged and Pedulum Lariated lol.
I kind got the hang of his Jeffrey, I was escaping a bunch of low throws but it seems that I rarely escaped the d+p+k+g low throw >_< Even though I think I did better against Jeffry than his other two characters I still had a tough time trying to get out of his throws and strikes. Splash mountains, Machine gun hammers, etc and b,f+p - kkp are pure evil!

Frank: All of us wish he could have stayed longer. He was a really tough opponent as well. He used a variety of characters and used them all with great skill. His Vanessa
is his best character, IMO. He caught everyone with p,p throw, p throw and f,f+k a lot. I think if he learned better float combos then he would be much better than he already is.

virtuaPAI: Started off shaky in the beginning but he learns very quick and was definitely a threat halfway through the gathering. His Pai is so fast that we could never get to throw him often. He likes to hit and run by mixing up sweeps, forward cartwheels, and pp delay a bit then throw or ppkk for okizeme. A little too much pppd+k but he definitely learned quickly by mixing d+k and b+k in his ppp strings. His Pai could be very dangerous in the future. But I'm also taking up EVO Pai so watch out virtuaPAI lol.

HammerHead: Very knowledgeable in gameplay, frames stats, and certain tricks. He plays a small variety of characters but mostly plays with Jacky and Kage. His Jacky gave me the most amount of trouble although his Kage wasn't far behind. He plays Jacky very well, he mixes up f,f+k dash then throw and f,f+k dash and f,f+k a lot. I got caught in too many f+p staggers into beat-knuckle combos which really hurt. His Kage is nice also, catching me with TFT combos, f,f+k g-cancels, BT p+k into throws and Jumonji stance mixups.

As for me, I played mostly Akira and Lei Fei. I feel that my best character was Lei Fei. I'm trying to learn how to incorporate his new stance in my game and also trying to learn that new dance of his. (u+pkg, d+pkg,d into his new stance, repeat as quickly as possible) I could only do 4 cycles of it but with practice I will get do it without thinking about it. I had my share of victories. The closest matches and most lopsided matches I had were with Throwmasta. Either it got down to the last round or we traded excellents. It was so intense. I also played a little Lau, Vanessa, Lion, Pai, Jacky, and Sarah. They are all fun to use especially now in EVO. This is the most fun I've ever had since NYG3. Hopefully the people that couldn't make it will be able to the next time a gathering is held at his place. Also, I'll be hosting a gathering myself soon!! /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: PA gathering (last weekend of March) impressions

First, I must thank throwmasta for having all of us over, and I had a blast. Second, I also have to thank Akira_zero for drive me and v-pai, w/o him the gathering there would two less people.

I'm impress by everyone's gameplay. Throwmasta would not miss any throwing opts by very damaging grabs. I agree w/ AZ that his Aoi is by far his most dangerious chara. You always have to be on your toes to compete this guy.

I think Akira_zero has surpass me in the game's knowledge and playing abilities, especially when he behold evo. I just hope I can keep up w/ him. Can't wait to see how far he can progress in ths deep game.

virtuaPai has a keen sense in fighting games, it's shown when he demolish me in doa3. But, I know nothing of the game. The game seen to be deep too. His ability to learn as we play has made his pai very dangerious now.

I look foward to the next gathering. See you guys soon.

I beat everyone in both games with perfects all the time. end of story /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Just joking.... I had so much fun hanging out with these guys. I already had some of the technical Knowledge of VF4, but I need the actual hands on experience. I thank these guys for encouraging me(knowing im the enemy DOA3 player /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif), and helping me along the way for an easy transition, too bad I did not get the chance to show them the ropes in Doa3..If we had a little more time, I could have went in more detail about the game, but, I WANTED TO PLAY VF4.

there are lots of things I still want to be good at, like the throw escaping...buffering the two escapes is not hard, but knowing which two throw to imput is hard(and I realy dont know each characters main throws).
Im also going to get away from pai for a second and try out Kage and Sarah....

to wrap things up, I had so much fun, we played one of the best fighters this weekend(2 if you guys dare to except doa3 to be one of them /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif ), and we had alot of good strategies being poured out by these guys...if you were not there, you missed all the fun we had.
hope to see more of you guys and those who will like to come to the next gatherings.

Well, I hope you guys can make it to the next gathering. We all had some awesome matches and just an overall awesome time!! When I begin plans for "PAG3" /versus/images/graemlins/shocked.gif, I'll be sure to post it early enough to give everyone time to plan (just like I did the last time). And yes shadowdean, even though you're scared /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif; I'll even PM you regarding the next gathering.
