Dragon, give it up. You're so self-assured in your wrongness it hurts.

FOX News has been around for a long time, it's not new. Also, depending on the medium, I could just as easily argue that the media is conservative (talk radio for example is dominated by right-wing pundits.) The man who runs FOX, Roger Ailes, was Richard Nixon's media advisor. He initially, in the 70s, created a right-wing propaganda station with the motto "fair and balanced" but was not successful. FOX "News" is nothing more than the reincarnation of that very propaganda channel.

I think what you're really doing here is defending right-wing politics. I feel your indictment of the two-party system has nothing to do with any concrete knowledge you have regarding American politics, but is an excuse for the Republicans' deplorable actions; and a bad one at that. What the GOP has done over the last couple years is completely inexcusable to me on every level. Maybe you disagree with my perception of the quality of life in the US, but you don't live here, and clearly don't have a grasp on how much has changed -- not just economically, but politically.

To be dead honest, I think the shifts are a reesult of racism, although I also feel that those on the Right can't see it. But the nature of the GOP's attacks on President Obama speak for themselves. I see the Tea Baggers as total clowns. They coalesced around their hatred for Wall Street and the bailout, but were IMMEDIATELY snowed into working for the exact same people who caused the crash. I feel bad for anyone who can't see what's going on, or is in denial, regarding the detrimental actions of the Republicans since 2008, and more so, since 2010 (although I'll readily admit I didn't like them before either). Essentially, when the people of this country elected a black president, a portion of our population just went ballistic and they haven't returned to Earth yet. Now the right-wing is making a clear move towards Fascism, which can be a powerful political force in an environment like we have in America today.

Tengu, I can't understand why you keep bringing this up here instead of taking it to a larger forum. You can clearly see that there's only a few members here willing to discuss such matters and I don't get what you're gaining from spamming your political theories here.

Surely you'd benefit from being able to discuss this with a larger audience who are actually willing to discuss such matters, no? Or you scared your extremist points of view would get teared apart?

Please stop using videos to express your opinion. I'm not going to watch some crap propaganda that you seem to fall for. Just write it out man. Or do you lack the ability to actually voice your opinion with your own words?

I've been voicing my opinion and I'm not just attacking you, I've been tearing down the notion that you and the other self proclaimed US political experts know a damn thing about US politics. That currently is the opinion you're viewing.

We can't even have a real discussion about politics here because you UK folk keep brining up shit about the two-party system which is such a moot point it's asinine to be brining that up. Not once have you even talked about the candidate who are actually running for president that the people here are taking seriously.

BF is right. YOu really need to find another forum to discuss your political theories because obviously nobody here wants to talk about them with you. It's just trolling and de-railing the thread at this point. Please just stop.

As Tengu wrote, no one is forcing anyone to click on the politics thread and read his posts. Unless you are a glutton for punishment, if he bothers you that much then stop reading his posts! If he bothers you that much and what he is posting is against board rules, notify the mods then :p.

Gernburgs - what does that last post fulfill in discussing politics within a politics thread except to get a mod on your case?

On topic - Politics: the only time I remember the U.S. government unified and working together is when an outside force threatens the country. It is disappointing that it takes an outside threat to have everyone working quickly together for a solution to problems (this includes Republicans and Democrats).

I was having a discussion about this very subject last night. The utter collapse of the Eurozone could be that very threat that unifies US politicians (assuming it falls before the west does).

If that's my only response to his complete freak-out and emotional breakdown, where he posted my picture to try to destroy my anonymity/reputation or just insult my appearance in general (I don't even know what his angle is to be honest, it was just a miserable and weak move on his part...), I'd say he got off Scot-free.

For Politics? No, of course not. Have you read this thread? And to say the obvious we're brought to VFDC by a common love of Virtua Fighter. That some also have an interest in political affairs is completely fortuitous. There are actual forums dedicated to this stuff.
Erm. No one. I'm not and have not made a claim to be in charge, or have the power to ban. It's simply an observation on what you've posted. Some of your views are inflammatory and what i posted earlier isn't exactly unlikely. The temp ban you had earlier may have been an IP ban in other places. As i said, people here are quite nice. Don't believe me? I encourage you to try. Please post links.
Well if commenting on your posts is off topic, i apologise. Remember though, this is a public forum. What you post is as much the subject as what you're posting about. Though in this case i was answering Feck, not you.

Back to task; I do wonder how long the German public will continue agreeing to underwrite and prop up the EU. Greece is still in massive trouble and they're not the only ones. Euro wide bonds could help a bit, but Germany isn't in favour of them. The next couple of weeks should prove interesting.

As Tengu himself observed, his personal attacks and photo posting were wack. Even if Tengu is annoying, much (but not all) of what he says is true. The Unipolar US-dominated political and economic system is collapsing. It is easy to become so distracted by the epic suckness of the Republicans that Obama and Democrats seem good by comparison. The differences are mostly in rhetoric and style.

Has Obama pursued peace in any way shape or form? No. He has continued all of Bush's wars and expanded or instigated wars in Pakistan, Libya, and Yemen. We have special forces operating in around 100 countries.

This is obviously imperialism, yet our media does not attempt to explain wtf is going on. If one sticks to only mainstream sources, there is literally no way to have any clue as to what is going on in the world. The best people allowed on TV are still very constrained by the interests of Wall Street which owns all the media corporations. Probably the best guy on corporate TV is Dylan Rattigan, who I am surprised has not been fired yet. Here he is interviewing Ron Suskind about Obama and the banks:

    http://dailybail.com/home/dylan-ratigan-with-author-ron-suskind-tim-geithner-ran-the-w.html

So, in addition to expanding America's War against the rest of the world, Obama has failed to reign in the predatory financial rapists, aka the big banks. So Obama has turned out to be a big phony. It is sad. It's the political equivalent of finding out that there is no Easter Bunny or Santa Claus. Deal.

I am speaking as a guy with family and close friends who worked or are working with Democratic Congressmen and other politicians and as a former Obama campaign staff employee. I spend most of my time reading about politics and history and usually for fun I listen to interviews and radio shows or internet videos while playing some video games. And for all my efforts, I can say this: I have no idea who is running this shit show. It is obvious that democracy is a sham and that our media and politicians are puppets. Gradually, in the wake of World War 2, the US National Security State and the Military Industrial Complex and the highest circles of the corporate world (Oil and finance especially) all acted basically in concert to undermine democratic processes in favor of a nebulous system of top-down control that would dictate policy and the terms of public debate. But I do not know whether these forces are essentially nationalistic or some kind of global elite that sees itself as nation-less and entitled to manipulate world events by virtue of accumulated wealth and power which no notions of social good shall be allowed to diminish.

The hope is that people will rise up and demand democracy. The Occupy Wall Street movement is the most positive sign that we have seen in a long time...

    An across-the-board percentage would do.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">. cut foreign aid (this goes for US and for UK that gives aid to India, while the Indian government has a space program, UK doesn't!)</div></div>Space programs =/= country's wealth.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">. stop immigration</div></div>That's isolationist. And isolationism NEVER works to get an economy going.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">. stop talking this about cutting taxes or raising taxes, we need jobs to increase our income, our productivity, we need protectionism. Either we bring back "our" companies from overseas or we create and nationalize new companies here in the west. That's the only way to create jobs.</div></div>
    <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">. end the "endless" wars</div></div>Agreed.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">. say goodbye to current banks/banking system.</div></div> Out of curiousity, in what why do you think the banking system should change to be?

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">. the president/prime minister of any country should "rule" for two years instead of four. Give us more democracy. When politicians fail to deliver on their promises, we need someone else in office.</div></div>No.

2 years is WAY too short to see any lasting change. This sounds very much like one of the biggest flaws of democracy - the party voted in is expected to have policies that changes things NOW, almost never in the long term.

Not unless there's a coherent, rational point to the protests. So until that happens, the protests are nothing more than emotional masturbation.

Their demands are to end the dominance of money over politics. Since it is a coalition of groups, they have not issued a manifesto. One of the big promoters has two central points:

    1. Break up the Federal Reserve/Private Banking Cartel

    2. End the campaign finance racket/ revolving door between D.C. and Wall Street.

Wherever it goes, at least it is a start. Money has turned politics into a joke and it is destroying our society. The rich are running away with everything and they don't seem to care as society goes to shit. We waste $2,000,000,000 a day the war machine while debating which social program to cut because the debt is so high. Well the debt is $13 Trillion. Meanwhile American millionaires are holding over $40 Trillion in wealth. This bullshit state of affairs must not stand.

At this rate America will be as fucked up as those countries that we've bombed the shit out of. Maybe some would call that justice.

I have absolutely NO CLUE where you got that I like David Cameron? My opinion is the exact opposite.

I think David Cameron is another dirt bag pol who's in bed with Rupert Murdoch... I'm at a total loss as to where you got that I like David Cameron. I don't have a website either...

Last I checked the Right definitely owns the radio media, but it seems that when it comes to television, the internet, and print, the Left dominates. Unless you know something I don't.
