Try this: stand still a lot with no movement, holding block, and freeze up whenever any jab or low punch hits you, and do random back/f crouch dashes wit slipping when out of range.

I hereby dub this the "Blahzie step". Otherwise known as the "noob freeze-up" or the "scrub step".

How about the "Wolf step" where you do screw lariat at the beginning of the round then backdash all the way to the edge of the screen? Seen that too many times for it not to have a name...

this thread is just LOLZ! Stepping is useless in VF5 since characters feel so heavy when they move around. This is why I gave up on it just a few months after the PS3 version was released. But since everyone is having so much fun with it, I guess it could be fun to bring sexy back to stepping.

My votes for most useful stepping.

1) Plague step owns so far. If you can perfect that there is no way you can lose.

2) Strider step is HOT!

3) Kangaroo step? Would love to see that one!

4) Worst player step? hhhmm maybe worstplayer should concentrate on becoming better player and not after round celebrations.

5) Minami step = father of Azusabo step, konjou, etc, etc, etc, etc!

 

I'm not sure if i'm understanding your post correct. I think you're askin if you should spend more time learning Akira or Kage. I say Akira cause that who I use , and it looks like he fits your style more of stepping in with powerfull moves vs the tap tap tap character, but I can see how learning Kage well can feel rewarding and look cool..I'm just a begginer, but that's what I see when I watch the video...And that last song you had in there was dope! Made that fight seem epic with the intros n the whole SPoD, breaking out of her ground throw and the reversal at the end.

stepping negates the "feel of weight", because it cancels movement strides before they end. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

in any VF, i think it plays the same role of:

a) fast and precise movement axis
b) guarding inbetween cancelled strides (G- cancelling /vf4/vf5)
c) instant .. (err... double palm type moves)

yea im sure there are tons of previous threads about stepping. Any way, I hear you and understand fully well what you mentioned above, but overall if you compare the fluidity of moving / movement in previous VF's, this one(VF5) is the stiffest. Look at vids of Joseph Akira who used to use stepping as part of his offense. In VF5 he does barely no stepping. I guess this is due to how they have changed the properties of canceling crouching back dash. I don't know, I am only guessing. Best stepping I have seen in VF5 was by some akira player that I have never heard of before and have only seen 1 vid of him posted to this very day. And even that stepping is nothing compared to VF3 or any of the VF4 versions. Sure it looks nice but it seems like its a total waste of time doing all that moving / dancing. All that work is a lot harder on your wrists and you will probably get carpel tunnel in just a few months of doing this. You don't even need to apply the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif button unless you see an attack coming and you want to defend. The only thing difficult about it is it has to be inputted very clean. This is something I think anyone who is decent with a stick can learn since it's just timing. The only other hard thing would be making your wrist build up some stamina to keep this kind of stepping up for hours. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cry.gif I'd rather waste the energy bullying my opponent with pressure. Best VF5 stepping since it's release!

hahaha after watching the vid again, I figured oh what the hell. I guess I will play around with stepping some more in VF5. I highly doubt I'll get as good as the guy in this vid. Plus I don't want to be putting my wrist on ice every night.

I guess all that fidgitting is cool since it looks like you're being active (Good for Boxing).He makes its seem very intimadating than what it really is because he does it so well. No need to practice it now Konjou.

In Tekken fidgitting is a common stategic move but not Virtua 5.

There's gotta be some use to it.... Couldn't it be used for fuzzy guard and backdashing to make moves whiff? I've not tried it much but it does look like it has some uses in VF5.
