Thanks Leonard and Konjou for that awesome article on leanords blog about SF4.

Konjou--as something of a hack writer myself, i just wanted to say: great job man. that was really well put together, the whole article flowed nicely. I like the way you set up what u wanted to say about sf, then u took us down memory lane to the original (note: street fighter was and always will be an enigma to me. my experience started at street fighter II, and the million different iterations, and always thought "what the hell was street fighter like") and u worked through the different games and what they brought to the table, and clearly explained how/why u thought the idea that 4 was something new was a sham perpetrated by capcom.
It was also well played the way you incorperated other fighting games in to the big picture while not losing sight of what you had to say.

And then u ended with a positive note of what SF has brought regardless of its deficiencies.

Good job Konjou, it was an interesting read and i didn't finish with that hollow--there's 5 mins of my life i can never get back feeling /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

BTW, does anyone remember the name of that fight game where everyone had a weapon of some sort for one of their arms? you could hack peoples heads and arms and legs off mid-round if timed just right!!??? I want to youtube it, but have no idea what it was called.
    thanks in advance.

Thanks man, I really appreciate that. I am seriously considering to tinker with writing, so it's nice to know that people like my weird style.

As for that game you were talking about, I am sad to say that I know the answer... goes to show you how fucking old I am.

Well there were two games that fit the description of what you were talking about.

    1) Time Killers

    2) Blood Storm

I think they are both related and if I am correct, I think Blood Storm is the sequel to Time Killers.

In regards to this whole tutorial thing, I really have been messing around with doing this for a while now, but doing it in an usual format and on a whole other level. Hopefully I can get a little test run of it up and running soon. In the mean time, check out my Youtube page which is under going preparations for what's to come. The page is not finished and feed back is appreciated. Feel free to leave it on the page or PM it to me on Youtube. Unfortunately the page is best viewed at a high resolution (1650 x 1080) if you want to clearly see the whole thing. Currently I can not find a way around this and have check many, many other youtube users pages who have a custom background for answers, but it just doesn't seem like there is any way around it. If anyone knows then please let me know asap so I can make the changes.

What makes the Dazzle better than other capture devices?
It's not the first time someone suggested it and I hope it's not like with ipods cause they are mainly used. I currently got a MSI Movie VOX mini and it's sufficient.

But since I got work and I'll get a bunch o moss at the end of the month I could buy a new one. But I'm only willing to do so if it's worth it's money. I can't find any good tests or comparisons, so it would be nice if you could give more details.

Before I go into any details regarding Dazzle, look at some of my capture results and whether that appeals to you at all. (Mind that all those video platforms offer different video quality standards - with YouTube being worst for standard-def.)

    1) Example: YouTube (click the HQ button)

    2) Example: HDshare.TV

I too really enjoyed the SFIV article, while not totally agreeing with it. But it was a short essay and not just a ramble, which was nice. I mean, i'm glad it didn't start out on topic and end with a winding complaint about Sagat being OP since SFII. lol. Leaving me thinking, ok, so how is it not worth the money. Good job Konjou, way to get in, make your points, and get out succintly. Definitely worth a read if you've been considering clicking on the link. Also, it was thought provoking about what constitues a game being "worth the money", which i liked.

Can u make a 4:3 720x576 picture without using any filters. Then I can compare it better to mine. Cause I can get that quality you showed in both vids with my current one too.

Can't capture atm due to my bricked 360 (RRoD). But apart from the auto-deinterlacing those vids have no filters on them.

Thought they maybe had a blur on them. Tried the towel fix? Works good for the old ones. Or did u flash it wrong?

I compared the vids a bit and your's about 30% better. It's perhaps because your's is from the 360 and I captured from the PS3. Also NTSC deninterlace seems to work better then PAL deinterlacing. I don't think the quality is going to be much better with other capture cards. Next would be a 200€ hdmi capture card and thats just too pricy. With my filter setup it looks pretty ok.

After comparing the videos not the picturs the animation looks much more fluently with your capture. How much frames did u use?
Ahh ok VDUB captured only with 15 frames ^-^

Damn I would really like to see the Dazzle with 720x576.

You're asking things there :D. The question is how much FPS do those video sharing platforms support (and encode the uploaded videos in)?

As for the originals: they have all been recorded with 30 FPS.

I beg you to forgive me if this is a stupid idea but... why don't you use the internet archive?

<s>The twins</s> social_ruin and wasted_wish have already used it to store their podcast audio and i remember distinctly reading that some of the LParchive videos are now hosted there, which means videos can be uploaded too.

In fact, after a quick browse through the FAQ , there's some info on how to download and view movies from there so that must definetly means there's a way your for tv-caps to be uploaded there.

Don't know exactly how that works/would work, just a thought.

Oh no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been, regretfully, "the twins" all my real world life. And now, erdraug has brought this to VFDC. Worlds colliding, baby. Worlds colliding.

I think taking full advantage of the free video sharing services on the web is sufficient enough. These services have improved by far over the years. It's better for the user who wants to quickly watch those vids without having to do too many compromises regarding video quality; and also better for the video creator to share his work and reach as many people as possible with it.
