Edit: ggs to piccolo187 who was gracious enough to player match at my request when I found an opponent with a good connection. Makes such a huge difference.

ggs the other night genital ripper, has been awhile since we had some ninja on ninja action. That demotion as been a long time coming lol been slowly dropping down ever since i started playing again, It's not even that I feel that rusty at this point...I just think most of the shitty players around my rank have dropped off and most of the people remaining are either far above or far bellow my level and rank

 

Complexz I can relate lol. I've dropped 3 ranks since I started playing again. Learning a new character isn't helping XD

This is why you dont play ranked. u study your character until you get good with them.

 

I couldn't disagree with you more. I've already got my character's BnB combos down across all major weight classes and can consistently execute all inputs. What I do need is practical experience actually running different mixups, working on my spacing, etc.

There's only so much "practice" you can do in the Dojo before you have to just dive into live competition and start figuring out what really works. Grinding max damage combos all day isn't going to help me find practical ways to open people up from neutral situations. The thing is, Ranked is the only active area in online PSN right now, and frankly I don't care if my rank takes a hit while I'm getting back into shape.

The rank isn't the objective, the game is. Rank is just a superficial byproduct and I'll be dammed if I left that spook me out of actually playing.

 

I have been focusing on dojo instead of focusing on alot of ranked matches. The game you play is the main objective that is true but some people need more motivation and rank to them would mean something to them. Each person does it their own way. I find the offline modes more effective since you can play special sparring to get enemies that use different play styles like a human would and they can be set to react better to basic stuff than a human will most of the time. I only use ranked to meet people mainly. I do see your point though I prefer to focus on special sparring, dojo, and offline to learn some people prefer ranked for that oh well. It can work either way so you both make a good point.
