I think the number you need to try first is 7 (Im not sure if it was 8, been a long time) Ive never given much thought to alternatives. That one works. You can start a character, lose 7 straight and get 7 wins and bang, you have a balloon. The total number of wins or losses doesnt matter, and its not an 'unlock' because it can happen multiple times (I think it stopped happening after certain number of balloons though).

Just want to say i've been playing some Quest Mode lately and it's awesome lol. Granted they don't really start fighting back till you reach/start fighting 7th-8th Dans, it's really good for learning characters and giving you a chance to mess around a lot before you reach those higher ranks and have to actually start playing some defense and choosing the right moves for your next offensive attack.

You may be thinking "That's cuz u r teh noOb feaucha, i beet Kahncururr gust pooshing punch lulz lulz lulz"".

Yea true but, if you try to play em like you're playing someone (preferrably not me) it's actually a pretty good learning tool for fuzzying and eteg. I think the A.I. is awesome, but I really have no other A.I. to compare to besides HDR since the only other fighter I really played besides SF2,SS n whatever in 94' was KO Kings n Fight Night. It's pretty cool how they all play different. Some will spam the same string almost the whole fight, some 1st Kyu's fight harder than 10th Dans, some will always react with 2p, some abare for a lil bit. It just goes on and on.

But I think Quest Mode is really good. And it would take a long time to complete, which gives longevity (still, thank you sooo much for putting the balloon trick in the game SEGA,AM2, whoever).

Now that I think about it, the time I was gone for bout 8 months from moving and not having cable internet. I'm like dam, I shoulda been playing some Quest Mode and learning characters. I'd be decent with bout 6 of em by now lol. Didn't really need/want to Dojo with Akira cause i've played him so much, and no one to offline with so VF just collected dust.

Anyways, Quest Mode is dope for learning if you have the basics down. Jab, elbow, eteg, throwing half/full circulars to beat evades etc...
