Chi was talking about schools that are all white.

I went to a school like the ones he described, ignorant feels harsh though. I know i'm uncultured but hard to ignore what isn't there.

The thing is though, that you're not a racist. Just because you come from that kind of setting doesn't mean you're going to come out racist. It's just that, people who are racist tend to lack . . . perspective (trying not to use ignorant).

I know exactly what you're saying. My best friend went to visit his girlfriend who lives in Ukraine. Where the percentage of black people there is literally 1%. He told me that the white people blatantly call black people nigger right to their faces. But the weirder part is that it's not coming from a racist perspective. They're ignorant to the fact that term is offensive to most blacks because as I said what they learn about America they learn from tv.
So, imagine watching Pulp Fiction over there where Sam Jackson is saying nigger every other word, they think it's normal to say to every one.

Yeah, my point was that they weren't racist.

Harsh? Hmm ignorant means the lack of knowledge in something.

Not sure about the US but over here it's used to describe people that willingly ignore, it's also kinda insulting. Not that I'm offended by your post, just that word seemed a little strong.

Feck, In the good ol U.S. of A. Most are too ignorant to know what the hell ignorant means and they will react with arrogance when you point that fact out. YAY MURKA!

That aside, SHUT UP AND PLAY THE GAME!(<--this comment not aimed at Feck)
If "racism in the gaming industry" is that big a deal to you go start a rally, march on a game company you feel is racist, write a company angry letters they will likely ignore, start a petition, etc etc.
If you lack the will to do that it's clearly not that big a deal to you in the first place.

What is the problem about wanting to know the point of view of people? Is it so chocking that you need to go berserk?

Yeah that first post was enough. The other two pictures weren't actually blackface, they were just offensive.

I agree with you. It's the market that is racist, but then again, I think it's kinda natural for people to go for things that they feel are relatable to them, specially in a place like the U.S. where people are so balkanized.

I do think that the industry could have some very simple things to try and be inclusive, like giving people different skins so that they can tailor the look, even if not the story.

I'd challenge this view. I wouldn't necessarily get a WASP in that kind of role, but I could see eastern europeans, Italians, etc in the role, if you go by stereotypes.

Then again, I could see some of the white dudes in the documentary Cocaine Cowboys in that role too. :)

Anyway, I think that the bottom line for this topic, as far as I'm concerned, is that the industry would not be hurt by trying to find ways to be more inclusive.

Well, I brought this topic up in another forum. One guy replied "Well, the reason is because whites play video games more than any other race." And I was like WHAT...THE...FUCK?Lol

that's what someone said in the shoutbox here too. I heard all sort of rationalizations. I guess it's hard to empathize when you haven't been there.

Ignorance is a state of being uninformed (lack of knowledge).[1] The word ignorant is an adjective describing a person in the state of being unaware and is often used as an insult to describe individuals who deliberately ignore or disregard important information or facts. Ignoramus is commonly used in the US, the UK, and Ireland as a term for someone who is willfully ignorant.

It's insulting because it is an insult. I mean we're talking about racists here right? In my own case if something I say to describe a racist is offensive then I'm doing my job right. Calling someone a racist is already an insult, why hold back any more punches when seeking to further describe them? Might as well go all in or not at all.
