It's interesting that he says VF4 is his favourite fighting game. In the WCG interview where they were playing VF5 and VF5R was in the arcades at the time he said VF was getting better and better with each version.

VF4 can be still be his favorite fighting game, even though he compliments VF5. I know it's rare to do both 'round these parts, but it's possible.

That's not what he said. He may like both but I was referring to which is actually his favourite. One interview seems to contradict the other unless something was lost in translation or he changed his mind.

He didn't state that 4 was his favourite because it was better than the others did he? And if he said the series improves with each installment I don't see how he's stating a preference there.

VF4 could be special for him to numerous reasons besides the quality of gameplay, maybe it was the size and quality of the scene or something else ...I don't know, but Vf2 and Evo are often the most fondly remembered VF games regardless of improvements across the series.

If he says he likes VF4 the best out of all fighting games then I take that to mean he thinks it's better then all the others. Why else would he say that? He said himself VF5R was doing well community wise so I don't think the player base had anything to do with it. In the brackets in that interview it actually states that after asking him again (SF4 players couldn't believe what he was saying) that he really only likes VF4.

In the WCG interview he said he thought VF was getting better and better with each game. I obviously take that to mean he thinks the lastest version (VF5R at the time) is the best.

That's how I took those interviews, however since they've been translated something may not have come across accurately.

Don't want to sound ungrateful, and this is probably just indicative of the FG community still growing/learning in general, but it's a little frustrating to watch an interview where one word answers are given, and there's no follow-up.

    For example (I'm paraphrasing):

Q: which character do you hate the most?
    A: gouki

Q: which is your favourite fighting game?
    A: VF4

I think knowing why is infinitely more interesting than knowing what the answer is.

I totally agree. It frustrated me to see no follow-up questions, considering the guy most probably understood japanese. Without knowing 'why', some of those questions are redundant. Let's hope the next one will be better.

so it isn't enough for Apple to copy and pull in popular 3rd party programs into their OS and then ban the same 3rd party creators for "violating their TOS" (you know, after apple had already copied their innovation) now they'd like you to know that you should never point out security flaws to them.

Apple, making programming more insular and less secure one idevice at a time.
