Dennis, just that the people working on the post processing have an uncomfortable feeling that they are dressing up a turd.

They're just hoping that it is a good movie after all is said and done.

Nah, Elektra was doomed from the very beginning whereas Thor has a real chance. If the story/execution is good then it hinges on post production because all of the armor assets have a rubber look to them. if the story/execution is poor then Post will draw people in at the beginning and then word will get out and it will die, possibly taking the genre with it.

The genre will likely survive as long as the next few movies coming after do well. If Marvel is just churning them out with ROI placed above story quality then it will be a sad bunch of days for comic geeks.

Let me disclaim this by saying that I'm not a comic book reader. My knowledge of anything Marvel/DC/etc is limited to whatever exposure has been afforded through popular media (for better or worse).

So having said all that, the Thor trailer does absolutely nothing for me. Any other people feel the same?

I'm gonna pass on this movie after seeing the second trailer. Originally I was really excited about this, but 2 trailers later I'm convinced no matter how much polishing they do to this movie it's going to be bad. Just the fact that none of the scenes show Thor twirling his hammer, tossing it upward and taking to the skies just turns me off. I can't say I read many Thor comics, but I'm pretty sure that's a staple move for blondie. If I pay money to see this movie that cape better not be for show. He better take flight. Also doesn't Thor's hammer grant him the ability to be a master of the elements? I see every other baddie in the movie using magic oh sorry science other than Thor. I guess they didn't want to show those parts???

Let's see according to the wiki:

Weather Control: Mjolnir grants Thor the ability to command the powers of the storm, causing rain, thunder and lightning although he cannot control artificial weather. He can create giant raging electrical storms complete with thunder, lightning, hurricane-force winds, tornadoes, blizzards, tidal waves, exploding volcanoes, earthquakes and torrential rains across entire planets at a moment's notice. He can also create any of these phenomena individually. Another aspect of this power allows him to stop any of these weather conditions instantly as well. Thor can create storms on a planetary wide scale or larger if needed, and is not limited to the normal limits of Mother Nature and can go beyond and defy what natural weather can do such as creating rain in space where there is no atmosphere. Thor's ability to control and create storms extends to any and all storms as he has been shown to control and create raging temporal storms in time, create Solar Flares, powerful stellar winds in space and so on. Thor's ability to control the elements and storm are so absolute that even a powerful weather manipulator such as Storm was easily overpowered by his ability to control the weather and easily defeated[46]. Thor can also channel the storm's fury, and magnify it into extremely powerful energy blasts capable of destroying objects of high durability, such as Adamantium etc. Considering that Thor's ability to control the weather is so great, he is not affected by certain limitations, restrictions, and environmental conditions.

Also just the way he speaks is another turn off. I'm not talking about the actor's accent. I'm talking about the fact that Thor's speech is that from the olden days, using words like thy, thee, etc, etc. I totally understand modernizing things, but peas and rice let's at least try to leave a few of the core things in place that made the character popular. It's like asking me to go see the Captain America movie and every time he tosses his shield he has to walk over and pick it up, because Hollywood is to lazy to implement the ricochet effect of it ping ponging back and forth taking out multiple enemies before returning to Captain America. Sorry but if Captain America has to pick up his shield one to many times when that movies drops I'm gonna be fucking pissed.

Even if someone offered to take me to see it I think I'd turn it down unless there was no other movie left to be seen.

As a comic reader, my opinion is that Captain America and Thor are poor choices for the next batch of films. I mean, they're adapting Man-Thing. Man-Thing, people. Who is running that ship, anyway?

Iron Man really was awesome. It beat the odds and became more than just a comic book movie. but that is rare, rare, rare. and the glut that Marvel is planning will really turn people off, I think.

At first I thought it looked cool cuz it looked like they were taking the Ultimate (Universe) Thor. The rest of the trailler seems to try to disprove that...

sadly, no. one of my friends is doing some animating for the movie and he told me that they were replacing the hammer in some scenes and I had to ask: "for the cool hammer"???

but no. just replacing it for the crappy, small 616 hammer. too bad. Ultimate Thor had everything that would be cool on screen.

I don't think it matters what hammer they're using. It's going to look weird either way and going to be a huge turnoff for a lot of people.

This last trailer actually got me kind of interested in this movie. It seems to me they're not afraid to simply cater the entire thing to comic book readers and say 'to hell with it, here we go boys'. The same problems Iron Man 2 had will pop up though, a lack of focus due to the presence too many characters and having to tie into the Avengers.

I don't see this movie succeeding like Spider-Man 1 & 2 or Iron Man 1 did but I expect it to be a fun romp anyway, better than the first FF-movie at least.

Also, I always thought that the Marvel-movie-verse mixes and matches elements from the 616 and Ultimate universes as it sees fit and is building up its own conventions and continuity.

What blows me away is the number of films used to make this. I'm also slightly bummed that I've seen some of them and don't remember much about them at all.
