okay, so Jian Ghomeshi is a radio host for our CBC and has a program called Studio Q which has both a radio and a "tv" component. I don't expect many to know who he is but it is worthwhile to mention that he is very thoughtful, a more than capable interviewer and has a very informed music knowledge.

It is worthwhile mentioning that because Billy Bob Thornton is a weird, effed up individual who makes for a very odd, very surreal interview. I thought at the beginning that he was just winding Jian up in order to gain some interest in his band but toward the end I think he's just a real dick. haha.

it's a bit long but, I think, funny and interesting.

must have been uncomfortable in there.

    That was just painful...

I really have to hand it to Ghomeshi for keeping his cool; he managed to keep the show going without too much dead air.

Thornton has a past, a famous one where his film projects have been far more prominent in the public eye than his musical ones, so to use that knowledge as a means of introducing his current endeavour seemed sound to me. Apparently Thornton pointed out that he didn't want his film career mentioned, ok fine, he's pissed, but he could've handled his issue so much better.

It wasn't until the interview was half way through that Ghomeshi finally managed to pry out Thronton’s grievance and even after Ghomeshi goes through hoops to explain his angle (the producer gave him an order) Thornton still wouldn't play ball.

And throughout this you have the band mates; these guys don't have Thornton's cred, they can't be pricks and be labelled "rebels" on E news while they churn out a summer flop to prop up their bank accounts. These interviews are their conduit to fans and potential ones. Sure, the band will get some press for Thornton's behaviour but it'll also mar them too.

Personally, once they were off air and out of earshot, I would’ve decked Thornton.

haha. his band mates DID NOT look impressed. what a dick. People on the radio would have thought, oh he has the same name as a famous actor, if the host didn't go ahead and clarify it. Did anyone else think maybe Thornton was on drugs? He seemed a little out of it and not just pissed. IMO

Ah, Facebook. What started as a novel and innovative tool to reconnect with lost aquaintances and family has now blossomed into a shallow and bloody annoying distraction to my daily routine.

That clip was pretty apt. Though some people swear by it.

Some helpful tips and advice from an email getting passed around at my job.

    "GPS units:

A couple of weeks ago a friend told me that someone she knew had their car broken into while they were at a football game. Their car was parked on the green which was adjacent to the football stadium and specially allotted to football fans. Things stolen from the car included a garage door remote control, some money and a GPS which had been prominently mounted on the dashboard.

When the victims got home, they found that their house had been ransacked and just about everything worth anything had been stolen.

The thieves had used the GPS to guide them to the house. They then used the garage remote control to open the garage door and gain entry to the house.. The thieves knew the owners were at the football game, they knew what time the game was scheduled to finish and so they knew how much time they had to clean out the house. It would appear that they had brought a truck to empty the house of its contents.

    CELL Phones:

I never thought of this....... This lady has now changed her habit of how she lists her names on her mobile phone after her handbag was stolen. Her handbag, which contained her cell phone, credit card, wallet... Etc....was stolen.

20 minutes later when she called her hubby, from a pay phone telling him what had happened, hubby says 'I received your text asking about our Pin number and I've replied a little while ago.'

When they rushed down to the bank, the bank staff told them all the money was already withdrawn. The thief had actually used the stolen cell phone to text 'hubby' in the contact list and got hold of the pin number. Within 20 minutes he had withdrawn all the money from their bank account.

    Moral of the lesson:

Do not disclose the relationship between you and the people in your phone contact list. Avoid using names like Home, Honey, Hubby, Sweetheart, Dad, Mom, etc....

And very importantly, when sensitive info is being asked through texts, CONFIRM by calling back.

Also, when you're being text by friends or family to meet them somewhere, be sure to call back to confirm that the message came from them. If you don't reach them, be very careful about going places to meet 'family and friends' who text you.

*I never thought about THAT! As of now, I no longer have 'home' listed on my cell phone.

Something to consider if you have a GPS - don't put your home address in it. Put a nearby address (like a store or gas station) so you can still find your way home if you need to, but no one else would know where you live if your GPS were stolen."

And here are some laughing babies that brightened my day /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
