Save/Reload for balloons & item tourny = cheating?

Sega is cheating.
The last update made easer to find new players in quest mode that we haven't played yet.

You know he said it was his goal right? he didn't say he'd got there yet.... You should stop with the bitching, seriously.

Off course some of his characters are weaker than others but if you stopped calling the guy out and actually played him you would have found that quite a few of his characters are pretty strong.

And even if he was mediocre with everyone, it's still the way he enjoys playing the game.

thats kinda the point of this whole thread.. Lemmy ruined a perfectly good thread ragging on other ppl for playing the game the way they wanted to, accusing ppl of cheating just because they didnt play the game the same way he does.. he swears up and down that everyone else is cheating but him because they use 'cheats' like the balloon trick..

frankly i think the numbers show that hes actually the oddball out on this one..

the reason this thread splintered off from the original topic is because of Lemmy's bitching about other ppl playing vf5 the way they wanted to.. if he can criticize (or bitch) how other ppl 'enjoy playing the game' im certainly within my rights as a reasonable person to do the same.

If he plays with every character, then it's cool with me.
If he plays with every character really well... than I'd be surprised.

No offense, but no need to be amazed. Knowing the strings and moves of all the character isn't that bug a thing. It's what all VF players should do (know) at some point if they want to get better.
I use 4 chars (2 main, 2 support), though it doesn't mean I'm great with all of them. Still, I practice moves and combos of other characters, to know what they can do to me, what are their options in what situations, even to know if the combo someone did on me is any difficult to pull off (props for stylish play /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif )
I advise any1 who wants to get better in VF to get to know ALL the chars.

And to RedSonRising, I have no idea why you have taken this 'cheating talk' so personally and why you have decided to slag me off just because I don't think it's right to manufacture your win record and/or render losing meaningless.

Anyway - yes I do know every single move and where to use them. I have memorised the entire moveslist and know what each move can be used for and why every single one of them has its uses, I also try to use them as evenly as possible; I hate repeating patterns.

I'm also not 'mediocre' in any sense. I would rate myself at least four-out-of-five with every character. You obviously cannot fathom this, because when you try and play as a couple of additional characters beyond Vanessa, your brain goes haywire... I have made playing well as every character my goal, and despite the challenge, I have proven it to be possible. I understand that it's difficult to do, but not so hard that you have to resort to calling me a liar (all this does is show how hard you must find it to play as more than one character).

As for your 2nd point. If it takes 30+ hours to fully complete the game with one character - then it would take me 500+ hours until I have achieved this - as I play as them all EQUALLY.
Oh BTW - I've only just got the 'Orb Master' achievement - my Lei-Fei got there first (I thought I'd share this as you think "Achievement Rule" and must judge how good on VF someone is by their meaningless Gamerscore).

And as for your 3rd point, when did I ask anyone to back me up? gernburgs and Beligerent Feck did that off their own bat.

LemmyisTheGame... dude, even if it is cheating... who actually gives a fuck? seriously, if there was a button combination that i could enter at the title screen to unlock all the items, i would do that shit in a flash. and i know that many other people would do the same.

i dont see why it actually matters to you personally at all. You want to play without "cheating" and learn all the fighters, and i respect that. but really, its not your place to comment on people's morals for utilising a trick that was put in place by Sega INTENTIONALLY.

Well, it's only when you finish the Final Tourney, so you still have to finish the game to do that.

It's very easy to beat the last official tourney.
This patch makes much easier to collect all emblems and defeat all quest players.

ill buy that for a dollar.

1. my brain does not go haywire, as Lemmy so eloquently put it.. i simply lack the advanced ability to pick up and play fighting games as quickly as some others do.. i may be all thumbs (or i suppose index fingers or something) when it comes to fighting games but i make no bones about that; i am completely self depreciating in this regard.. it takes me a long time and a lot of effort to achieve (get it) any level of efficiency in this manically intense genre..

this is only the second or third fighting game ive become enthralled with in the years ive been gaming (VF5, DOA4 and of course the Soul Calibur franchise) and it is not entirely alien nor completely natural for me either.. if practive truly does make perfect then i have to practice, read more, rinse and repeat as much or more than the next man just to break even..

2. my gamerscore is not meaningless to me. I regularly assert, on these boards and several other xbox related forums, that i think achivements and gamerscores are one of m$/xbox's most significant contributions to gaming.. the ability to keep track of all the games ive played and what ive 'achieved' along the way is of tremendous value to me.. comparing achievements is of much less importance to me than knowing what ive done and having tangible evidence of that achievement for my own personal record..

i dont judge ppl by their gamerscore; you are no less qualified to make assertions or assumptions about the game than i am simply because i completely dominate you in that sole facet of the game.. Achievements, or the lack thereof, do tell me a lot about how someone else is playing the game.. its obvious viewing your gamerscore Lemmy that you Dont focus on a particular character for example..

alas, in the end achievements will not get you laid and i dont know about you but i dont get paid by the gamerpoint (well, its pretty obvious for Lemmy thats not the case).. nonetheless, an achievement is worth more to me than a win/loss record (on or offline) so, as per my signature - Achievements rule.
And thats all I have to say about that.

your entire argument hinges on other ppl agreeing with you.. your initial contribution to the original conversation was nothing but contrary and assertive; (to summarize.. Ahem!) everyone else is cheating.. ppl were asking legitimate questions about using the balloon trick and instead of adding something useful to the exchange you called them all (including myself) cheaters.

in doing so, you've all but declared yourself the avatar of gaming goodness and chief high priest of all things fair and equal.. you are not a gaming god, blessing the mere mortal players with divine knowledge and wisdom.. regardless of skill and/or associated tactics, you are no more responsible for protecting defenseless balloon tricked, save loaded AI than any other gamer that purchased a copy of VF5 with their own (i should add possibly hard earned) money.

that is besides the point, but to address your issue - yes, i do believe i have proven my point. if Lemmy thinks its ok to bestow his dietic judgment up the undeserved, i reserve the right to defend myself with vigor and rigorous, disciplined logic and reason.. i may not be the best Virtua Fighter but i am certainly well equipped and qualified enough to compete in all forms of idealogical combat, of course saving my wittiest barbs and insight for only the most skilled and professional challengers. If you can't believe that I know all character's moves and when to use them, I better not tell that I also know every move for every character on Tekken 5R - except for certain additional clone 'comedy' characters (Roger Jr, Baek, Devil Jin, Anna and Jinpachi) - remember that's including the characters with endless moveslists such as Lei, Christie, Yoshimitsu, Raven, King etc. I also know every move for about 10 characters from Soul Calibur and the same from Dead Or Alive. And of course - just about every character from a 2D fighting game.

Plus when I go back to old games like VF3, Last Bronx, Soul Edge or Fighting Vipers - After a quick refresh, I know exactly what I'm doing on those games as well.

I told you my 'secret method' of remembering the moves works.

I don't care how people play their game. Feel free to do it in whatever way you like. However, I dislike making threads to beat your own drum and boost your ego.

Let it be said that I dont consider remembering all moves of all characters and in what situation to use them as an accomplishment. I remember majority of them myself but I don't go making threads to announce I do so. A good player has to know how to deal with all moves anyway. You have maybe finished learning the basics of VF.

anyway.. in Lemmings defense he didnt deliberately make this thread to stroke his own ego.. this thread spun out into this sprawling mess because he hijacked another thread damning everyone who use the balloon trick and other possible exploits to cheater hell..

soo, he did join a thread to stroke his own ego but he didnt actually create a new one to make himself feel special.. if that makes sense..

except?? that means you dont know all the moves for the game.. all and every are inclusive, that doesnt mean you get to exclude characters you dont like or prefer no to use for some reason..

anyway.. i think ive had enough of all this, not really goin anywhere anyway.. my point in its entirety is as follows;

we all have our own ways we prefer to play games.. we live differently, we learn differently and we practice differently, consequently we play differently.. i would prefer not to be called a cheater when ive done no such thing.. i paid for my game, ill play it the way i want to..

As a side note, I'd like to know--is it really possible to know the exact situation to use EVERY move in a fighting game? The whole point of fighting games is that the metagame is constantly changing and people are always discovering new applications for different techniques.

I don't doubt that you know how to use every character, but claiming to have mastered each and every move . . . ?

I'll believe it when I see some tourney results.
