Lol you wanted to bash SC2 and was hoping to attract a litlle bandwagon but I guess the plan backfired on you. Sounding like a 15 year old cheerleader on a fighting game site would do that Lol.

''Like OMG, SC2 is like soo not fun, and my little brother reminded me that you could like lose your weapons in Soul Edge... OMG Bobby's walking towards me, what should I do ? Should I like play it cool or smile and say hello ? OMG Taki got a boob job, OMG...''

    Lol just joking nothing major.

It's still one of my favorite games but I have to admit that I spend more time playing VF, which I find more fun + I prefer hand to hand combat over weapons combat.

Is it because you and your friends beat up on wcm and he quit playing the game and started vf4 evo? hahhaha.. that's what everyone says.

no i think SC2 is fun but it's still just a mashing frenzy and my main point was that they took one realistic/balancing thing out completely! which was the breaking of weapons! if you turtled too much or abused your super moves(and they were blocked) you would lose your weapon for that round, too me that made the game much more interesting...instead they took it out so that SC2 would just be the flashy easy to play game that it is! Its still fun but i find it ridiculous taht i can pres two buttons and then tap one of those buttons like twice to do a roll into a giant uppercut then fly down on my opponent charged with electricity from 20ft in the air!!!!

Not to try injecting gameplay discussion into a thread about would-be sc bashing, but does anyone know of a good sc-for-vf players primer? Beyond "hang out at sc.com", as i've done that.
Most specifically, I'm having trouble understanding the basic system or lack thereof. VF has a well defined rock-paper-scissors system, and even the exceptions (catch throws, sabaki, circular attacks etc.) are well defined.
As I understand it, in SC dodge is supposed to beat vert, horiz is supposed to beat dodge (except lots of horiz can be dodged ), vert is supposed to beat horiz (except different attack levels clash in weird ways), and throws . . . well, on the one hand, most chars throws seem relatively unimportant because of slow execution and 50% chance to break, but on the other hand, I've seen throws grab attacks. In short, what gives with the basic rules & exceptions?

Nope, most of us grew bored with calibur in general.

As far as a primer, if you can fish through the website there are lots of helpful posts. My best advice is to find some players in your area (if any) that would be the best idea since its easier to show things in person than the net. If that fails, or you need more, there is a beginners thread on sc.com that should help you get accquinted with the system.

    Meh, I don't like SC2 as much as VF4EVO

People who enjoy Virtua Fighter just want to fight. No big breasted women to drool over, no stories to care for, no cloned characters to unlock, just fight...

I always thought SC was rather weak in comparison. But I went out and bought the thing and played with the MN tournament players (who also think the game is weak but still play it for some reason) just to give it a good fair chance. Its got the fun party game quality to it, but I cannot see how the depth and skills can compare to VF and even Tekken. The game is really good don't get me wrong, but the game is plain weak in comparison. Its hard for me to imagine people getting "serious" about this game. Good thing that came out of it is, me and the VF player in the group are getting the others to convert to VF, thank god /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif Made me disturbed that I lowered my standards and was playing SC2 over VF

ps; This is just my opinion and I gave the game a good chance, I really wanted to get into since it was the only game people played around here- so no body flip out on me

nieb: Same goes for calibur players, i think you are just looking at the idiots talking about ivy's tits all the time. Im sure no matter what game you talk about there is always someone drooling over a chick, be it aoi, nina, ivy, or whoever. If i cared im sure id be playing less calibur and spending more time looking at fanart.

E_H: By no means is sc2 a weak game, it has your typical broken bullshit much like all games but some work around it and others just bitch. I remember when i first came to sc from tekken i had a similar viewpoint but the more i played the more i understood. Now i switch to vf, nothing better than broadining your horizions, and on a side note, tell RabidPanda that the MN wild are a horrible hockey team and a huge fluke.

Like I said above, I didn't call SC2 a weak game, I called it a 'really good game'. I used 'compared to' because I think its weak 'compared to' VF. You see its all a relative thing, if there wasn't VF or Tekken I wouldn't have those high standards to look for and SC2 would have been the best 3d fighter then. Again this is just my personal preference, for me I go for the fighter with the most depth and balance (which gives the game a lot more satisfaction and replay value to me).

You know it woulnt hurt VF to have a story, but you got to admitt that VFis a great bargain,I bet if SC was that cheap it woulnt be half as good.

First I thought, a new fighting game for 30 Bucks? Must be crappy.

I bought because I was desperate for a fighting game, and now I am addicted to it /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

    I've had SC2 since March/April - cool game I think.

Just that it's not as extensive as VF4 - and I like extensiveness. /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

You could always steal it from a kid at school...I used to play SC2 in the Arcades like 4 monts ago, that spoiled me a litle, but since the main part of the game is weapons master its worth buyng a new one even if you got spoiled by the arcates.

I've tried getting into SCII as much as possible...but it just feels like something is really missing. I'm either burned out on it because I played SO much SC on the Dreamcast, or perhaps it's all the additional auto-tracking properties many moves have now compared to the original SC. After playing so much VF4, SC just feels really shallow and scrubby.

It's still a fun game...just one you can't take very seriously. Watch it still win Fighting Game Of The Year on every website and magazine though.

Because VF4 EVO is just an "upgrade" too many people. SC2 was just hype.
