I can't use my frequent flyer miles from American Airlines, because they don't service that area. The closest place is 81 miles outside of the original airport. I called United Airlines and as of yesterday it's $761.81 USD, ouchers!
Anyway, I hope everyone has a goodtime and please take lots of pics and cap some gamming for us to see.

Maddy, it's called Wilkes Barre airport in Scranton PA. The airport code is AVP.

Kam: yeah, sorry to hear about your situation. I guess American Airlines cut back on flights. Scranton is a small place. I paid my ticket from AA.com but they gave me a united flight setup.

 

unforutnately I dont think Boston will be able to make it. Shang backed out at the last minute, leaving me and Pushku very few options. Sorry guys.

Yeah, Maddy, you had to look way earlier than last minute. It doesn't work for a small city like Scranton. Better start planning next time when I tell you! Let this be a lesson Maddy. hahahah

Thanks to throwmasta for hosting. It was a great gathering for me to come back into VF after 2 - 3 months of hiatus. The fire's reignited.

I personally had trouble against SgtRamrod and his machi style ^_^ Stop running away dude /versus/images/graemlins/mad.gif /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif Frank's Sarah also gave me trouble, taught me to be patient.

I'll write more later. Oh yeah, I do know that I dominated Death Tank /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif (well, I was always 2nd to Shag but he had experience /versus/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif)

Just wanted to let ya'll know I had a freaking blast this past weekend!!!! Awesome games with everyone. Thanks to all who attended and helped make this gathering happen.

JDub, not sure if you check out VFDC, but it was really cool hanging out with you; and I'm glad you made the bus for your hot date Friday night /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif. That would have been some bad luck if you missed the bus; as if the power outage Thursday night wasn't enough, lol!

Vith, thanks for shuttling yourself and the boyz from Jersey/NYC to Scranton. I didn't get to play you guys as much as I would've liked, but good stuff from all of you. Nice to see Vith playing "Scranton" Wolf (LOL); sweet Akira as well. "Gabby Jay... Yay!" was stuck in my head at work today for a few minutes, and I kept laughing to myself. I would've never remembered that if you hadn't said it /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif.

Anyway, Hammerhead was as formidable as always with Kage. I only got to play Oioron briefly, but his Kage seemed to be equally impressive from the short period of matches we had. Zoe is still wondering why you won't take her home with you Mark. You're the only one I know that would diss a gorgeous blonde /versus/images/graemlins/crazy.gif...

Brian, I think this was your first gathering and again, I'm not sure you even visit this site, but I hope it was worth it for you. You finally got to meet Stomp, but I'm sure you had much more fun playing SF, lol /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif. Just kidding dude!

Ramrod, wtf dude!! I thought you were coming up here to finally have some comp, and to go home with much knowledge of the game. Basically, I thought you were coming up here to learn, and instead... you taught!!!! This dude is really cool to hang out with; blurting out some of the weekends funniest lines and while keeping a straight face (which made it even funnier). Nice to have you dude, you pushed myself and Franks skills above and beyond what we expected. Nice death matches til 5am, and grueling Wolf/Jeffry matches that were a total blast to play; especially after I finally adjusted, and wasn't getting totally owned anymore!! Long live Don Flamingo!! Oh, wait, we all watched him die Saturday night /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif.

Shag, for my sake, and my friend John's, I'm glad you came! Playing you at Super Turbo was literally some of the most fun I had all weekend! Stomp told me you were good, and unlike most cases with SF (we talked about this) you did NOT disappoint! Mad skillz with almost the entire roster; even Thawk and Honda! John came specifically to play ST, and you certainly provided him with the comp he was looking for. We had some really tough, back and forth matches at Evo as well; you and I seem to be very evenly matched in both games.

Stomp, THE MAN! If it wasn't for you, this gathering may not have happened at all. Thanks for planning it out, and talking to people on irc, etc. AND being responsible for the good turnout. You're a selfless individual, and I had a lot of fun trading shots and busting balls with you all weekend /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif. Along with Ramrod, you made me a better player by the end of the weekend. Amazing movement, and ability to play VF on instinct. Impressive reaction skills too, as you were able to act upon reaction many times in response to my heavily throw oriented offense (cheezy fucking automatic popdown bullshit!!) /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif. In all seriousness though, very impressive Lion, Shun, and Lau (I think Lau in general gave me the most trouble all weekend).

Well, I just wanted to say thanks to everyone. I didn't write this because it felt like an obligation. Regarding VF, I realized some things after this gathering. My offense is pretty sound, but my defense BLOWS. I need to work on this, as I fall for way too much bullshit, and get hit much more often than I should. I do feel I get screwed sometimes when freakish things happen that aren't in my favor, but the bottom line is, my defense is nowhere near the level my offense is.

Well, once again thanks to all who made this past weekend a kick ass (and learning) experience. See you at the next gathering!!
