SF4 Impressions (after actually playing)

who's talking about ex-cancelling? I mentioned vipers trials specifically, the difficulty with in her general execution not so much with staple gameplay mechanics like cancelling specials.

I have no doubt it's doable, but she is definatly the most demanding character in the game.

(btw I'm not arguing the quality of the game, just you saying it was nothing came off pretty arrogant. Like KrsJin said, some of the top SF players have trouble with her).

 

hmmm...okay...anyways I love this game!..only disappointment is Chun-Li. I really prefer her in SF3...but I love what they did to Sagat and Sakura. Cant wait for Tuesday so I can rock Sakura's new outfit. Gameplay is nice doe....felt a bit off at first esp. since i have bin playing the hell out of 3rd Strike the last few weeks. But this is with out a doubt a great come back for street fighter. cant wait for that new King of fighters to drop. I give it a 9/10. Graphics took a while to get use to but now am in love with it. with Killzone 2 dropping next week and Resident 5 next month! this is some good time to be gaming. all hail to street fighter the king is back!

 

If you're playing like you only have 1 super bar, and that bar is only for doing qcfx2 P . . . you're not playing SF4.

Aside from the people that are actually posting legitimate aesthetic opinions about the game (LA), haunts pretty much owns this thread.

Agreed!!!!! the Netcode is Pretty good.Even some laggy games are very playable. I just wish you could'nt see who your opponent is choosing.

This game is good but its still not all that.

So why don't you play me then KOD? I never played you in VF and i haven't played you in this but what i've seen at NYG7 you hate losing and you refuse to give props on the low. I hear a lot of talk from a lot of you about this and that are some of ya'll is straight trash. You see my Gamertag use it. Other than that quit it.

 

There's one Viper challenge combo that I just don't understand how it's possible...

You jump in with HK, the LK linked to Cr.LP, and that's somehow canceled into the super jump and into ultra... Just don't see how it's possible.

The one before that one is hard too, where you have to cancel QCB+P with PP into ultra. You have to be mad fast. Don't see how you could even do it on an EX2. Thank the lord for TE sticks!

I agree with the posts about balance. So far this game seems very balanced to me... Every character is strong enough to take out any other. Sagat is pretty damn strong but I've beaten him with Fuerte, Abel and Rose no problem...

I'm sorry mods and everyone, but I've been reading this thread to hear some opinions on the game from "neutral sources" per say while I wait for my copy to arrive and post my own impressions, but some posts just got on my nerves after a while.

 

I dont own the console version, hell I dont even play online games anymore. I've only played a little sf4, and I know i'm not good at it.

I do mind people posting up false info, which you consistently do (weak tiger knee, like all non-ex tiger knees, is punishable unless he only touches you with the second hit of it, ultras are more important for most characters than supers because you have to work for super/ex bar whereas ultra once per round is essentially free. . .).

 

On a scale of 1 to 10 I give the game an 8. The only reason I give it an 8 instead of a 10 is the fact that Zangief, Able, and Seth all have grabs that can hit you when you are preforming a move, crouching, blocking, focus countering, exing, using your ultra or super art, or rolling.

That, if you ask me, is 100% complete and total BULLSHIT.

I also wish parry was still here, but eh... I have SF3.

Too many combos start with a jump attack, which in most cases make it impossible to pull off if the person you are playing knows anything at all about the game.



Other than those few gripes I love the game. All the characters feel good to play. Everything is smooth and precise. Its a 2D figher, its street fighter, so please if anything... stop comparing it to VF. Cause its not VF and its not trying to be.

Ain't nothing wrong about it. If you got an opinion, voice it, shit. I don't agree with what you're saying, but your opinion is cool by me.

I used the doa4 hori. Gernburgs try canceling the fierce TK or the strong TK into the ultra. It's a tough combo no doubt though man.

 

If your move hits first, it beats the throw. If your move has throw invulnerability (which, despite what you said, plenty of supers, ultras, and special / ex moves do), it beats the throw. If your move has airborne frames at the time the throw would hit, it beats the throw. If you were jumping, the throw just whiffs.

Since you're talking about "rolling", are you using abel? Use non-ex tornado throw to beat command grabs.

Seriously, most of this stuff people are saying is like someone going to SRK forums after 5r comes out and going "I give VF5 a 6.5 out of 10 because evade is too strong, it beats all of my attacks".

This game hasn't even been out a week so yeah, Ima hold off on the negative for at least 6 months but let's not bob on it's knob too much just yet either.
Unless you guys don't mind looking as foolish as the people who praised games like Primal Rage, Ballz, Time Killers, Pit Fighter and Clay Fighter during it's first week... until reality set in XD

Btw, played at a friends place for a few hours, still don't like it but I'm going to borrow it and play if for at least a month before I make up my mind completely... at least about the new characters, still can't believe Sagat doesn't have any new specials /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

 

Sagat does have a new overhead attack with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif fierce punch.

Honestly Tony, why do you think Sagat needs another special move. He is great just the way he is. Is it for novelties sake?

Did anyone play in the gamestop national tournament today? The regional stores brackets were today. I lost to a pretty good Zangief player.

I am learning Honda right now. Hopefully in a few months, I can really give me assessment.

@Slide - Your honesty means a lot Brother and i respect your opinion so hit me online sometime and show me something. I hear everybodys opinion and i never mentioned or went against no one opinion. I went against people who complain about others opinion for dislike.Given the nature of the world we all tend to judge things before a thorough work out but this is Streetfighter 4 so people will get testy.

In short a lot of us expected this game to be a lot better than what it is.Basically Its a good game and i will get my money's worth somehow lol!
