Should we move to Tekken?

I can vouch for Bryce - he's well known in the Australia TK community and knows his shit - and he has been to SBO as well (in fact, we both went to SBO in the same year).

BTW, you linked to page 2 of the article. Here's the first page:

So apart from rage, bound juggle changes and new characters, anyone else know what else is new/different to the gameplay in T6?

Wall game's been tweaked a lot.

Other than that - just all around improvement (better hitboxes, which led to better ss/sw, and certain moves gaining VF-style "slipping" properties), the "white" tracking moves (think horizontals > 8WR in SC, but generally single side-specific), and character-specific nerfing/buffing.

The white tracking moves are homing moves. They're Tekken's equivalent of full circulars. Every character gained one in T6.

SuperPanda named a lot of things but forgot some stuff. T6's low parry property is different from BR's. In BR, a successful LP leads to a bound. This is significant because there is only one bound per combo, effectively lowering the damage possible from them. There's an exception to the one bound rule though. Another change in T6 are destructable floors. Basically, you perform a bound move while your opponent is over the floor and it breaks. When the opponent hits the floor they incur some damage and bound. This makes it possible for there to be more than one bound per combo, even after a low parry.

Also specific to BR are the wall breaks. While this could be done in T6, you can only add additional hits in BR. The way it works is that some moves will break the walls during a wall splat while stunning them in place. Another change to the wall system is that characters fall off the walls more quickly now. You can typically get only three hits on the wall without a bound. There are exceptions, like Steve getting 2,1, Sonic Fang since the latter is actually considered to be one move. It's a two-in-one like Sarah's FLA [K]. The last thing that I can think of right now is that the damage scaling has changed, though I can't tell you exactly how.

SuperPanda, as far as the movement, I've been hearing that the side stepping in BR is more akin to the way it was in DR.

Re: IGN's (pathetic) review is up

Apparently the servers aren't up, so we won't know about netcode until next week. (not a bad strategy if the netcode is terrible to sneak it past the reviewers.)

Well, not entirely. DR's sidesteps were a bit odd (e.g. Marduk was huge, but had pretty good evading abilities). In BR, the bigger they are, the harder it is for them to avoid certain moves, while the smaller ones will find it easier.

Does Lili still have a super evade?

Anyway, I think people were saying this because of ss -> d/f+2 being strong like it was in DR, whereas it was weaker in T6.

That's true for certain characters (Law for example), but for others (the bigs), it's not. It does help clean out the balance though - Bob's size makes his SS abilities similar to bigs like Marduk, and IMHO, it should be that way, because that guy would a monster if he could SS better.

I'm not sure about Lili though. I don't actually use her.

    LOL!!!!!!!!!!!! + ! x 1,000,000

Please do beat up on me, I'm all for it! What if I'm the "best at Tekken" and you just didn't know? [IMG]

Maybe Denkai and Slide will kick me around online for a while...

BTW, I used be a PS-lover but when I bought XBOX and started playing Morrowind, I knew I would never be able to go back.

IMO, XBOX 360 is a great system. To be honest, I don't think I've ever even played PS3. None of that matters though; all that matters is that Tekken 6's online is good/great.

Shinobi, you're lucky you have this game already! I cut off a few fingers to be playing T6 right now! Me and all the other poor bastards out there have to wait until Tuesday. Honestly, there's nothing I'd rather be doing right now than playing Tekken 6.

If any of you guys, (Shinobifist) that have the game already, can post some online-play impressions (if you can log on) I'd be very grateful...

    No online till tuesday.

I have the game. But I'm holding my verdict until online is unlocked because 1) I want to see what Namco achieved code-wise, and 2) there are a ton of things that I'm hoping are going to be piggybacked on the online activation DLC.

However, at this very moment, I would have to say that somebody needs to be kicked off the Tekken team.

I don't have any great faith in the net code at all. If it was good I can't see why Namco wouldn't be shouting to the roofs about it.
To be honest they've focused so much time on the silly scenario mode which could have been spent elsewhere. You can't import profiles (360 version). No record mode ... wtf... However you can save replays which is cool. Apart from that it's pretty much T6 BR

It's a bit disappointing but apart from that everything is cool. Although it seems getting items will be a grind just like vf5's quest mode. Can I borrow someone's auto fire pad ?

Even if the online is that bad, I'm hoping this will spur enough of my interest to eventually go to arcades to play it.

Does anyone know the official UK release date? everywhere says the 30th, but the EU XBL 'insiders' Video (if thats anything to go by) says the 27th [IMG]

You can score the money you need off scenario. I've already recreated 3 of my arcade characters and I needed 1-3M each to do that, but I've only had the game less than 24 hours... so the money came in pretty quick.

Waiting for MarkMan to talk about the practice mode snafu. That was seriously a retarded oversight on Namco's part. WTH happened, did they let go of their QA guy because of the recession or something.

I'm getting it on 3 just so I can have a stick for both systems. Prolly will buy a 360 version just so I can play both communities.

Does anyone else feel that BR feels more, crisp, than usual? Like DR felt kinda clunky or that I had to wait longer before making movement inputs. Not it just feels more sharp to me, dunno, maybe placebo but I like it.

I'm not interested in Tekken 6, I think I'm going to move to Blaz Blue and Tatsunoko VS Capcom (but especially BB), when they will come in Europe (January-February I think).

Even if, I'd prefer to move to a new Virtua Fighter or to a Virtua Fighter with more people on line [IMG]

As much as I really liked tekken in the past ( 3 was great at the time!) As soon as I learned to play VF, I could NEVER get back to tekken!!! It plain SUCKS in comparision!
But I will be playing Tekken 6 because SEGA screwed up (AGAIN!!!) .
I really wish VF5R was out on consoles!!!

Woe to you SEGA. You suck!

It's not even a question of quality assurance. It's simply a developer decision. Maybe it got put on the back burner (Might be patched later but why wasn't it put in from the get go..) but something tells me this was very intentional..

Yeah, which is worrying. Still, if enough noise is made (and bad press), Namco will sort it out. Thankfully they listen (e.g. SC4 > SC: BD - they fixed Hilde.)
