    All Shun's combo starters for reference should be below, for combo research purposes.

    These and many other moves allow additional hits after wall hits at different ranges so they also practically become combo starters, so this list is only for NH and CH in bare ground no-wall situations. Similar changes happen in BT and side (crumble) situations (not analyzed here).

    I'd maybe add some moves that naturally start a short combo but follow ups are more limited and involve more of a visual cue (ie a small float, hit stun etc) than natural strings (but just an extra hit or so). The moves and most common (or the only) linking attacks are below:

    46 P+K (+15 on hit) -> PP (at 4+ DP)
    K K 2P K (last K launches on CH hit, gonna add this soon too!)
    1P (CH at 7+ DP) -> K ( the sweep)
    K+G (BT) -> another K+G (BT)
    K+G_ (to CHOU) P (CH, at +12) -> 46PPP guaranteed.

    The second hit launches in 214KK and 214 K K (second K hits CH) and is guaranteed if the first one hits. Also, in 236PP the first punch launches and the other just adds to the injury after 2 more DPs at 8 DP.

    Some brave hit analysis so far to straighten things out a bit:

    - 4P P (CH) and 46 P P+K (CH) have essentially the same hit effect, but 4P P keeps the stance and 46 P P+K changes it (from Open to Closed and vice versa). Their float differs too, as CH to low attacks float HIGHER than to standing attacks. I found this out when adding combos to Jacky so I think this should be updated to former characters (Taka, Jeffry, Wolf, Akira) so.

    - low launchers often allow for identical combos between characters, so I'll try to bunch them up when appropriate to reduce clutter (at some time).

    - Some moves allow for better combos on CH than on normal hit which should be taken into consideration too, like 236P and 236PP. This is marked before the combo in brackets (as well as DP requirements and stance Open/Closed).


    See the hangover? :eek: I think I'll start my own combo testing on Taka, since he's fat and combos less than that list suggests. (and he's a nightmare to play against)

    Since Jean is the only one who has more dojo dmg (K on CH) I'll write up what I see since it's easier for now. Dmg here is noted on minimal drinks possible to perform the combo. Damage is per NH unless launcher needs a CH. Several combos are noted per launcher if stances differ, dmg is close by, oki may be better and/or Shun can drink during a combo. I try to find a max dmg solution for every launcher, of course.

    In general, the trend seems to be that Shun gets many max combo finishers at 4-6 DP range, which is interesting compared to rest of the cast. PP4PP is the winner here, really useful after 4 DP. Even so I got tired of listing less dmg combos for less used combostarters.

    Also Neo I think for the [6][+][K][+][G] combos you've got the damage on CH listed? An interesting tidbit I found - From +6 DP onwards, [6][6][+][K] will generally do 1 dmg point more than [4][3][+][P][+][K] as result of the DP damage modifier.

    PS: A pretty shitty start new year 4 me, but I'll finally put some combos to resources section very soon and move to other characters then (Wolf and Jeff). Back 2 bsnss!


    EDIT: That new 1/7 P+K+G combo actually was in my 0 DP post, but I added P+K+G for additional drink after PP4P for benefit. :)

    Ok so I put a few Chouwan combos to "official section" up there but it was more of a learning session. I'm still figuring out stuff. More to come real soon.

    I added 46 P+K to launchers, since it very much guarantees stuff like PP after NH. Similar other stuff will include CHOU P (CH) at least and of course side stuff.

    Also, I plan to add MAX notation to max damage combo within each incremental DP count (only to those notated as new combos emerge then), I guess with numbers which I allocate to each combo within a specific launcher with first one having the biggest dmg etc, simply because lower DP unlocked combos may be stronger and higher DP moves rather bring new Oki options etc. (soon updated to Taka too!).

    The hard part here is to hit-check the Chouwan CH hit for Scorpion kick (6K+G) for max damage on combo 12. The same combo also needs a fast dash in in order to connect the 236 KPP string. With 236KP, as with strings generally, press G to empty a buffer and to do the rest of the combo more consistently if unsure on timing. On the other hand, the PP part in combo 6 actually requires G so I put it in the combo note. Also, some part may need 6_P to connect but it's hard to distinguish all parts since the launcher connecting in different ranges too. As it is, it may be better to always press 6_ just to be sure, also during P strings like the staple PP4PP. Pressing 6_ almost never makes the combo not work! Trying a combo pressing 6_ during P parts and using G to separate moves are classic stuff in VF but they should probably noted sooner than later.

    The hard part here is to hit-check the 236P (CH) hit for Scorpion kick (6K+G) for max damage in mentioned combos. Also, for 6K+G to hit, 236P should connect close to opponent in Closed stance. The same combo also needs a fast dash in in order to connect the 236 KPP ender. With 236KP, as with 6_P and other strings generally, press G to empty a buffer and to do the rest of the combo more consistently if failing on timing. Also, the PP part in combo 9 definitely requires G so I put it in the combo note. Also, some parts may need 6_P to connect instead of just 5P but it's hard to distinguish all parts since the launcher may be connecting in different ranges. As it is, it may be better to always press 6_ just to be sure, also during P strings like the staple PP4PP at 4+ DP. Pressing 6_ almost never makes the combo not work! Trying a combo pressing 6_ during P parts and using G to separate moves are classic stuff in VF but they should probably noted sooner than later. As this is perhaps the most important launcher Shun has, I listed lots of combos for variation and different input skills.

    Thanks Chill, those combos seem legit and max dmg too. Gotta test those soon more intimately (buzy!).

    Jean has that notoriously higher CH damage in dojo because of his higher dmg (K, which is red rather than yellow counter hit) which the cpu does and I'm very aware of that. I'll change the dmg part later (when all characters are ready!) to launcher/combo dmg system but because of time restrains the simple copying of dojo data should suffice for basic reference (and hey, now one knows how much the real dmg on red CH is at least with one character). (ok it's fun to see crazy CH dmg too ^^)

    It seems that 3P launches at red CH at 8+ DP !

    The hard part here is to hit-check the Chouwan CH hit for Scorpion kick (6K+G) for max damage on combos 13-16. The same combo also needs a fast dash in in order to connect the 236 KPP ender. With 236KP, as with 6_P and other strings generally, press G to empty a buffer (so that P string does not come out but the noted move) and to do the rest of the combo more consistently. This obviously is not always needed. On the other hand, the PP part in combo 7 pretty much requires G so I put it in the combo note.

    Also, some combos may need 6_P (press forward just before pressing [P]) to connect but it's hard to note all it's uses since the launcher connecting in different ranges too. I try to note 6_P at least when it makes the combo more consistent. As it is, it may be better to (nearly) always press 6_ just to be sure, also during P strings in many combos like in the staple PP4PP. Pressing 6_ before P (or any other string for that matter) almost never makes the combo _not_ work! Trying a combo pressing 6_ during P strings and using G to separate moves are a classic mechanic in VIrtua Fighter but they should probably noted sooner than later. And since most Shun players use (and should use) this launcher... :)

    The hard part here is to hit-check the 236P (CH) hit for Scorpion kick (6K+G) for max damage in mentioned combos. Also, for 6K+G to hit, 236P should connect close to opponent in Closed stance. The same combo also needs a fast dash in in order to connect the 236 KPP ender. With 236KP, as with 6_P and other strings generally, press G to empty a buffer and to do the rest of the combo more consistently if failing on timing. Also, the PP part in combo 9 definitely requires G so I put it in the combo note. Also, some parts may need 6_P to connect instead of just 5P but it's hard to distinguish all parts since the launcher may be connecting in different ranges. As it is, it may be better to always press 6_ just to be sure, also during P strings like the staple PP4PP at 4+ DP. Pressing 6_ almost never makes the combo not work! Trying a combo pressing 6_ during P parts and using G to separate moves are classic stuff in VF but they should probably noted sooner than later. As this is perhaps the most important launcher Shun has, I listed lots of combos for variation and different input skills.

    Okay, finally have a working console again so a quick update before I get back into some more detailed combo work.

    I've done testing for Eileen using the combos for El Blaze as a base. Turns out they all work fine on Eileen too, so I've copied over these combos to start off the Eileen list. But I figure there won't be much variance (if any) between these characters.

    Also I added a couple more [2][1][4] [K],[K] combos. 99 damage from a normal hit low? Yes please!!! Also a good incentive to get up to 13 DP!

    The hard part here is to hit-check the 236P (CH) hit for Scorpion kick (6K+G) for max damage in mentioned combos. The same combo also needs a fast dash (66) in in order to connect the 236KPP ender. With 236KP, as with 6_P and other strings generally, press G to empty a buffer and to do the rest of the combo more consistently if failing on timing. Also, the PP part in combo 9 definitely requires G so I put it in the combo note. Also, some parts may need 6_P to connect instead of just 5P but it's hard to distinguish all parts since the launcher may be connecting in different ranges. It may be better to always press 6_ just to be sure, also during P strings like the staple PP4PP at 4+ DP, even when not noted explicitly. Pressing 6_ almost never makes the combo not work! Trying a combo pressing 6_ during P parts and using G to separate moves are classic stuff in VF but they should probably noted sooner than later. As this is (along with the variation below) perhaps the most important launcher Shun has, I listed lots of combos for variety and for differing input skills.

    A couple of interesting tidbits:

    - For [1]/[7][+][P][+][K][+][G], [P][+][K] the highest damage combo I could find comes at 0 DP! Also I realised that this combo works on Eileen, and El Blaze with some provisos, so I've updated those combos too.

    - I thought I'd made a mistake when I looked back at the low damage [1][+][K][+][G] combos for El Blaze, but after testing again it looks like his hitbox is slightly different, as I couldn't connect a [2][+][P]. The combos do work on Eileen however so I've updated those and found a bunch of tweaks and corrections for previous combos.
