Wolf is not Canadian enough for me to recognize.

yeah, the characters voice are pretty awful on the whole. Take lion's for example, the only reason i can see to give him that voice to make people not like him.

The voice's and saying are actually so bad, i just prefer the characters like goh and akira, where i can't understand what the fuck they are saying at all.

To be fair, that is pretty accurate because it's rare to see full-blooded Native Americans nowadays. Many have mixed lineage and look/act/sound Caucasian, but still keep track of their tribal affiliations out of pride (and tax benefits).

Jeff is Australian? I thought he's Jamaican.

Yeah, saw that on the Beat Tribe tourney.

Sega had better remove that item before they port the game out of Japan. I'd hate to see the game delayed/cancelled due to stupid censorship and media watchdogs, for something so irrelevant.

Very small chance, but you never know.

I'm not so sure the Sega developers intended to make a connection to slavery. If the broken manacles were on Goh for example, you wouldn't make the connection that Goh was a slave. I think in VF5 Jeff was designed to look more like a wild beast. I remember an intro animation where Jeff wipes his mouth as he salivates to fight. I think the broken manacles are representative of a wild beast on the loose.

Hahahaha no. My friend is half white and half native, and he doesn't look white at all. I will also point out that there is an Indian reservation about 30 miles north of me and not 1 of them even remotely looks caucasian. Clearly you are unfamiliar with actual native americans.

I love VF, but the sound effects and cue in this game are really horrid. Some of these sound effects are from beck in the early 90s. It's kind of embarrassing playing VF5 with other people. I don't mind the goofy voice actors, that's part of the charm, but the sound effect and cues and the soundtrack in general are pretty lacklustre. Maybe Sega could borrow Namco sound team, they could at least make something exciting.

Then You not a VF Fan... You a Graphic and Sound whore.. you are the Masses companies like when they sell bullshit.

anywho i couldve sworn Wolf was Canadian....... Any i could care less about all that shit. I don't play a game for the Perfect hit sounds and graphics.. VF always sets the bar in Graphics anyway. This is a 5 years old game who animation in FS is far more superior than anything anybody else has to offer.

Wolf is a native Canadian (is that the correct term?). I agree on the sound though, it's terrible. Punches and kicks don't reallly tend to sound like they hurt.

I think they fixed the animations. They had been using quite a few from VF4, which was itself ahead of its time, and updated them quite nicely. The sounds however, haven't been changed drastically for the better in a long time.

One of the issues with Vanilla is that a lot of moves don't look impactful enough and in this regard, VF5 vanilla is some way behind other fighting games and even VF4:EVO imo. This can make the game seem boring to knowledgeable observers. The new animations help but sound is a big component in this.

Not sure if people have mentioned this or not (I know it's obvious), but VF5FS has new sound effects for hits and such. I like 'em. I don't really think the sparkly red shit and swirls that flies out of tekken chars is any more realistic.

I have to agree on the sound effects on hits for VF5, up until now the sound effects were pretty cool, then as soon as I heard VF5's hit sounds i immediately took notice of how tiny they sounde. Now, that was back then, I got used to it so I sometimes forget we used to have nice hit sound effects.

I think if you search on impressions when VF5 was first shown there were quite a few people complaining about the hit sound effects..

everything else (including music) is fine by me

I used to think the sound effects on FS were weird when hits connected and when they got blocked. But I don't know if I got used to them, or if they changed em a bit. I like em now though. Even when they hit the ground it sounds cool.

When Jean hits them cats with the last kick on his throw at the end of the 1st and 2nd round, that sound is loud. If that's not a 'Ooohh damn' moment, I don't know what is. Even all them hits on the very last move of the vid sounds good to me. That Jean intro is fly too hahah.

I personally think the sound effects are up to par. If they re-did Lions' voice, i'd be cool with that. And the 'Round x, ready, Go'! Just doesn't sound right..But, whatever. What does sound right I guess..

Its funny that you guys are complaining about the sound effects in VF because one of the first things I noticed in the recent doa video with Akira was how bad the sounds were. In that game its like you're punching a wet bag.

I think the hit sound effects in VF are pretty good. And in FS they seem to have added some sounds that only play when there is a very powerful hit which adds to the game.

I mean, there are some sound effects that have been in use since the old days, but I don't look at them as needing any sort of upgrade. Not only do they do a fine job of conveying the pain factor on their own, but some of them have also become somewhat iconic. I view their continued use as most view the classic ring sound from Sonic the Hedgehog. They've been using the same one forever. Is anyone complaining about it? I should hope not.

Imo, the sounds are alot more robust this time around in DOA5 tbh... I've played all of them so far, and with this one the sounds hit harder... I watched the Akira trailer several times on different machines with different speakers, both crappy and pretty decent, and it still had umph in the hits...

I'm not too fond of the pseudo-sweat effects though (it's more like wind bursts [¿?])......

Most definatly not. The sound effects in VF suck ass and I firmly believe you're a fanboy if you believe anything else (and I'm not trying to start a fight). My favorite shitty examples of the bat would be breaking bones (goh's armbar, vanessa's neckbreak) = biting an apple. How about taka's 4_6p+g throw (since it's a 'new' sfx) - do you think that's the sound someone being swayed back and forth is like? In order to seriously say that SFX in VF doesn't suck, since many of them are from VF1 or VF2, you are in a way arguing one of two points:

    1) Sega was so visonary so they were 20 years ahead of their time when it came to sfx and the quality of them in fighters
    2) Soundeffects and audio in games haven't been developed and furthered in the last two decades

    Full circular swoosh-out!

To be very honest, the sound effects are like B-rated kung-fu flicks back in the day. I found them as with the cheesy campy voices a charming aspect of VF (you can call me a fanboy if you want [IMG] , no offense taken).

I'm sort of the in the same camp. I also think they do the job well of distinguishing between types of hits.

And for the graphics and character models they always made sense to me if you look at them like action figures instead of real humans. I like looking at the game from that perspective.

I think this recent vid shows how the cheesy sound effects, imo, goes well with what makes VF, VF - VF Choreographed
