I hate these explosions in Tekken...so damn much

What could be interesting is (next to the girl-attributes mentioned above) that injuries occur, for example small bruises or
to some lesser extent flesh wounds (in the face). Besides it would
be cool if the clothes could be torn apart or change its arrangement during a fight.

But this has to be done very well when it comes to graphics and animations. This can be messed up easily.

Anyways Im not sure I like this. The thing is that the bruises etc would most likely be almost invisible and hard to see during a fight, or they would be completely overboard like in mortal kombat.

These effects should be subtle; it doesn't have to be that visible during a fight...as a spectator it might be more interesting to watch and in the end of a match it could be a nice gimmick to see
to what degree your character got injured. There should be a lot of levels of impact.
I do not want MK-wounds...one has to keep the golden mean. I would appreciate this more than some extremely visualized hit-effects.

After playing SC5 for the last few weeks and a little bit of Tekken 6 thrown in, I appreciate VF's lack of pyrotechnics even more. Don't get me wrong SC5 and Tekken 6 are fun, a lot of laughs, and they have very deep game play, BUT.... they both feel gimmicky compared to VF. The rage system in Tekken 6, the BE and CE meters in SC5 , I've seen those abused. I'm truly glad VF does not have they pyrotechnics and the gimmicks.

I find myself in chats with my opponents in SC5 sayin, "yeah, you got your little power move off, but lets put in VF and get some fair fighting in.

VF's lack of nonsense is the selling point!
I also play UFC 3 a lot. It doesn't have all of the super moves, and pyrotechnics, or gimmicks. But its exciting to play. One of the things that add to its excitement is the crowd, the good announcers, commentary during the matches, the fighters entrances and post fight.

VF could add some real announcing and commentary (not what they have now), make the music more dramatic, improve the contact sound FX, and then add a slo-mo for the replay of the knock out. plus showing subtle wear and tear on the fighters. That would do it.

Soul Calibur and Tekken are nice to visit, but you wouldn't want to live there. VF is the real deal. VF can be made more real and more dramatic without making it a combat simulator. Adding better crowds or spectators, that can shout things out, more dramatic (less arcadey music). Improved announcing, etc would fix it.

VF needs to go the opposite direction from SC and Tekken, we do't need a power meter, or rage system, or fireballs. The music, stage lighting, would go a long way.

Arcade fighters have a story mode for each fighter. Combat simulators like UFC3 or Fightnight have a career mode, If VF could take the tutorial mode and extend it just a little to make it character specific with a little bit of story and drama added. Wow! Why not have career-like mode that shows how each character got to 1rst Dan.

right... maybe though we under estimate the cost of a good trailer these days. I wonder what it costed to produce DOA trailer? Maybe Sega doesn't want to spend that money.

But if I remember correctly VF5 for the PS3 sold either as much or a little more than VF5 for Xbox and the PS3 version did not have online. To me that says that if the PS3 does have online it will sell even better. So Sega might be in for a shock. I know my XBL bruthas may not believe it, but the PSN community for VF5FS will probably be significant. I'm in no position to say which online community will be bigger, but by adding online for the PS3 I think Sega is at least doubling the number of online VF players

It does look damn good., a 2 player or 4 player demo is supposed to be shipping with pre-order of ninja gaiden 3. I have that on order so I guess I see how good it really is.

I think the others may be better suited to a Fighters Megamix-ish spinoff, but AM2 should bring their palm tree as a joke character. To be honest, though, I like VF having that certain sanctity of being super-serious (goofy and gaudy costumes and accessories notwithstanding), though I can understand the desire for a bit of lightening up.

As for the blood and "Mature" themes, I'm not sure I like the lightning or the explosions, but a bit of blood would be kind of cool to see hit the arena floor, or something like that.

Please don't make moronic statements like that. MK wasn't banned in Australia "just for blood". MK has things going in that game far worse than the presence blood.

To be clear, it was banned because our archaic games classification system did not (at the time) have an adult R18+ rating. This was first brought to the mainstream media's attention when Left 4 Dead 2 was released. As such, Valve ended up censoring large parts of the game (and hence, ruining the entire experience) just to release to our market. Midway chose not to do the same, hence why it was never released.

Thankfully, in July 2011 it was announced that the R18+ rating will now be introduced.

Fallout 3 was RC in Australia because it had morphine in it.

I use morphine (at work) most days of the week. and yet I can't play a video game with morphine in it. Thanks.

I think the Final Showdown announcement trailer is much, much more awesome than the DoA5 vids. It could be bias, but it is one sick trailer.

Yep, that's exactly what you can see in DOA... 4 & 5 iirc.

    I think vf needs:

1- Being able to spit on your down opponent.
2- when close to death you should be able to get your keys out and do mad windmill move.
3- untold blood and at the start of the next round you vomit blood if you had an excellent against you last round.
    4- none of the above.

Sega took it out of FS... WHY SEGA? You give us Costume S, but you take away my teabag taunt?!
