Hakan overall design turned out to be better than I expected. Actually he is sooo damn awesome I already decided on maining him.

The annoying thing is that when the SF3 character trailer came out and the Hakan teaser was at the end, I was telling friends that he'd probably have a slide and a bearhug that squeezed people out at high speed. I could have looked all clever and prophetic, but now I can't.

I do really like his design though.

after seeing Hakan all I can say is DAMN I MISS PLAYING STREET FIGHTER 3: THIRD STRIKE! Street fighter was finally heading in a great direction with the features found in the SF3 series, but I guess all of the technical stuff was just to much for people, so all there bitching made Capcom go backwards. Now we have a watered down parry now dubbed Focus which I think is a damn joke.

Having reserved and already paid for SSF4, I really hope I can find some sort of enjoyment in it when it drops.

The only good thing about this Hakan characters is the music from his trailer followed by the barrage of " Here I come! " slide show of the other characters smacking there faces up against the wall.

God help me and please allow me to enjoy this $40 dollar piece of shit game... with no adjustments to the focus system or heavy tweaks to the overall game play it really looks like I've already wasted my money.

Honestly I wish they went the route of CVS2 where you could at least pick different play style grooves. I was that big of a fan of all of the grooves, but hey at least you had choices. If this game had the SF3 parry system I'd be all over it hardcore every day.

hehehe forgot to ask if anyone noticed that out of all the characters sliding to there death from Hakan's super that only DeeJay was smiling LOL... that brother is always smiling about something!

Silly man, like fire means anything to Hakan.

Remember silly things like fire, guns, and billy clubs, and swords mean nothing to video game characters. Fists do more damage.

Lol! I was thinking that also , "why is DJ smiling ?" . Does he enjoy getting owned? I had a positive reaction to the trailer. It proved Capcom was still capable of unique gameplay ideas. Hakan looks like an instant classic. I thought the over the top moves were hilarious, and it proved Capcom is the king of fantasy fighting games. SSF4 looks like the game Tekken 6 should have been.

Of course it would have been better with 3rd strike's parries, but we lost that fight years ago. Not every fighting game has to be extremely serious and technical . VF 5 is king in my house, of course , but sometimes I enjoy the escapism of light hearted anime fighters.

I saw the trailer for Hakan and all I can say is WTF?!?

Very interesting character design with a lot of slick moves (pun intended). But seriously, who thinks up this stuff?

Ask the guy who made Amingo in MvC2. I wouldn't be surprised if they were made by the same person.

i was actually thinking of picking up SSF4 and I am glad I didn't buy the 1st one when I was about too. I like a good game of old school SF every now and then but would hate to buy the same game 2x for a few upgrades.

I think the game needs less ultras where characters fly into the screen. It's not funny and grinds my gears for no particular reason. That said I like Hakan's design but his style is something I have to see in action before I can judge it.

What??? You want to see the character in action and maybe even actually play as him before you shower him with praises??? Hmmm, interesting approach.

First off all Hakan is just a slightly modified Birdie character model with different moves. Second: the reason they have all the dumb camera angles is because people want 3D looks. And finally I honestly believe the only reason they got rid of parry is because they were really only worried about making it more playable online. Parries require precise timing which is nigh on impossible alot of the time in any online game where as focus allows for tons and tons of messed up input timing and still counts most of the time. Like mentioned in an earlier post games are getting easier and easier and its because games are now mainstream and unfortunately there are far far more lazy dumb people in this world than dedicated, intelligent, or ambitious ones. So if the game company wants to make a profit they have to dumb things down for your average gamer who lets face it, isnt going to put in the time to master complex games. When is the last time you saw a game over screen I bet you cant even remeber because they have all but disappeared due to mainstream gaming. Thems just the facts, it sucks but its true.

Well if you can't beat the dumbies at the "simpler" game you're not as smart as you thought you were. What most gamers really despise is that all the hand coordination they felt meant something over the years is meaning less and less.

Personally way back in the day games weren't that complex input wise and that I believe was the "golden age." Later as games became less accessible to those who didn't have tons of time games because the "golden niche."

You know what the success of SFIV tells me? The golden age people have gotten older but still love their flagship, Street Fighter, which heralded the fighting era in the first place. Keep in mind the fighting era was still 90% scrubs, there was plenty of dedicated people in the arcades back in the day that didn't know any technical BS at all. They all went by instinct before the internets got it's paws on it. Who made the fighting games what they are today?

The same people most of you make fun of.

Slightly modified Birdie character model? In what game did Birdie appear in 3d?

Not sure what you're trying to say here, but this sounds like considerate, pragmatic game design to me.

I think Capcom has been very open and honest in saying that SF4 is meant to be a very beginner-friendly fighting game, with features specifically designed to give players with low skill levels a fighting chance. I'm personally impressed that they were able to accomplish that while also still being attractive to the tournament gaming scene.

I think I was taken a little out of context I'm not claiming to be some leet superstar genius but I wouldnt mind seeing a little challenge come back to the games. I am just tired of weakness being catered too. All things are not for all people and when companies try to make something that is for everyone (which I would think is impossible)they tend to break what isnt broken in the process. Didnt mean to insult anyone if I did just stating some observations I have made on gaming the past several years. And I know I am not alone in thinking 3s is still millions and millions of times better than SF4. Necro for life!

And go look at old pictures of Birdie then look at Hakan. He looks almost the exact same their posturing is similar face is the same, build is the same clothing is similar only Hakan has no denim vest, different hair, and the chain isnt at his waist. They are very similar, and I bet capcom was going to throw him in originally but didnt for whatever reason.
