Plague, Katherine, Bryan, Alex, and the rest of the SoCal crew... Thank you so much for one helluva weekend. You guys were perfect hosts and it was definitely one of the best gatherings I have ever participated in!

The event brought back so many great memories: VFers I haven't met up with in a long time (Shag, Faustino, et. al.), playing until the wee hours of the morning, sleeping on the floor, Evo on the PS2...the last gathering I've been to was back in 2002!! I also met VFers I haven't met before: Andrew, Paul, Ohio, SoCal, etc. I think Maddy and SH were the highlight of the tournament...from Maddy's strong play over the weekend cementing him as one of the U.S.' strongest players, to shh! shh! shh! of SH's inspiring run in the tournament. And of course Japan's two Godzillas, Yozuke and Kazu, did not disappoint, taking the top two spots in the tournament. Our Myke took third! VF aside, I just had so much fun hanging out with all you guys. Jerky, you are one hilarious mofo.

So SoCal crew, thank you once again for an awesome weekend...the VF scene owe you guys for it.

Just wanted to say thanks for having me Talis, and thanks to everyone else for such a great time. I really felt like I made some new friends and I can't wait to play with everyone again. Myke is right when he said VF attracts the right kind of people, you are guys are all awesome!

So great to see old friends and make new ones. The SoCal crew consists of some of the nicest people! /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I had an absolute blast this past weekend! VF was great, but just hanging out with everyone was the truly the highlight for me. The food, laughs, and chit chat in general was top-notch!

The tournament was amazingly organized and was a total riot!!! The all you can eat food was a great idea! Congratulations to Yosuke, Kaz, and Myke for taking the top 3 spots. Ice is right - Maddy's and Sh's (Ohio crew) play was probably the most inspiring. Their improvement over the last time i played them was astounding! The best Akira and Brad players in the US? No doubt!

A big hug and "thank you" to Talis, Katherine, Alex, Brian, and everyone who helped to make this one of the best VF events i've *ever* been part of. I simply did not want it to end! At one point, Shag and I were musing about how amazing it would be to move to SoCal - just for the cool peoples, weather, FT, and FRISCO'S!!! /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Talis + Catherine: ty both as well for your allowing me to stay at yalls place and chill with the peoples, Talis had a suprisingly strong Akira and was glad to see other Akira play, Catherine, glad you could use the advice I gave you, I aim to help and or please.
Willie: you are also the man because you allowed me not only to get Cheetos and Chocolate Milk but you made Chicken and waffles possible, ty kindly. I'm glad I could show you some of the funnier things of the game and I will send you a PM after I write this with some GGXX links to you.

Wow! YES!!!

Thank you to everyone who made the trip. You all made it worth every waking moment from Wednesday night to Monday afternoon. I really wished to have seen akiralove, GodEater, Blondie, and IMF. Next time, gentlemen - all your VF are belong to Plague's house.

I've never had more fun at a tournament. The organization was so good I was practically relaxed during my fights. Every worker had enough to do to make for a great evening without the normal tournament headaches. No one seemed stressed trying to make sure everything ran smoothly. I was only getting about 3 hrs of sleep per day and I imagine it was the same for most players - and no one was getting pissy about it. The venue was perfect - easy to watch the action, food and drink ready when you wanted it, comfortable ampitheatre-style seating for the final eight. So nice. It made it easy for people to hang around and watch. Crazy "SH SH SH" crowd action. Cold AC (I love that). No reason to leave the room except for restroom or smoke. Just awesome.

Notables for me: (1) finally understanding the worth of delayed launchers (supah KNEE powah!) - (2) speeding up my game (playing against Yosuke, Kazu, and maddy showed me how fast I can move when necessary) - (3) being able to use hit detection on whiffed with regularity - (4) -> cancel can really be the shit when used properly.

Interesting shit: Playing lots of rounds with SH_ in the living room while people layed down and went to sleep all around us. I think there were 12 bodies in the room and down the hall by the time we took a break.

New players showing up at the house and staying for long periods of time.

Ken_I and DRE win the award for longest play into the AM. I think they quit around 10:45 am Saturday after a Friday all-nighter.

VF running at my house for 24 hours a day from Thursday night to Saturday afternoon.

People finding places to sleep wherever they could. One time, SH_ made due with a pillow and the stone floor. Hardcore shit.

Wallace appearing from nowhere by using only an address and road atlas. This man has no internet. He got things done the pre-mapquest way with great success. The event would not have been the same without you, sir. Thank you.


I'm looking forward to NYC in August - it will be time to do this again.

In the mean time, watch for an E3 2006 party and I see March 2007 as a great time for West Coast +4 II!

Thanks to everyone for a great weekend!! It really inspires to keep playing VF with maximum enthusiasm. Hopefully this can be a start of a VF tournament revival scene. I’m sure with a scheduled setup rotation, This can be something really great, without the other fighting game fluff.
