I have an idea on what addition we should include to the ranking scores.

Lets give 1 point for people that show up to gatherings.

So the rules would be:
2 points for showing up to gathering
Then during tourneys (can be played with any amount of players)
1 point for participating in tourney
2 point for a match win
3 points for a tourney Win

What do we all think?

If we folow the above outline. It would read:

So current score would be
Pushku 2
Shoo 3
Plague 5
Matt_K 3
HowBoutSum 3
Unsafe_Dan 3

I find the following confusing...

Is it one or two points you are suggesting for just showing up. I'm guessing it's just one. Also, since you scored Pushku 2 points in your proposed system and 0 in the previous version, I can't tell if he even entered.

EDIT: I just cleared this with Brian over the phone - Pushku did not enter the tournament and was given two points for just showing up. The tournament was Shoobert vs. EL_Brisal73.

I want to make some adjustments to your proposed changes...


I like your idea of the winner getting a little bit more - it gives more incentive to actually WIN. I'll add a system that benefits the winner as participation per event increases.

I don't like the points for just showing up to gatherings. I think the one point for tournament entry is enough to reward participation. The idea behind ranking battle points is to get people to show up and compete.

Catherine just pointed out something about byes that I think makes sense... a player can score match wins for their byes as long as they win after getting a bye.

To be fair (since I want all SoCal locations to adopt this system), I'd like to open it to adjustments for one week starting today.


The system assumes use of:

1) Tournament announced in this thread at least three days in advance. Please give more notice if you want to hold one on a day that people don't usually come to your location.

2) At least four players entered for a tournament to take place*[/size] - 4 players use a 4-person bracket, 5 to 8 an 8-person bracket, 9 to 16 a 16-person, etc.

3) Random draw

4) Single elimination, one best of 5 game per match (including the final).


The system:

1 point for tournament participation

1 point scored for winning a match (including the final)

0 points scored for taking a bye UNLESS a player wins a match after taking a bye. Then the player gets scored 1 point per bye taken prior to the match just won.

Points scored for winning the tournament based on bracket used:
4 person = 1 point, 8 person = 2, 16 person = 4, 32 person = 8, etc.


This would mean the current ranking score looks like this:

Plague 2
Matt_K 1
HowBoutSum 2
Unsafe_Dan 1
EL_Brisal73 6

Sorry I haven't been present at the gatherings, unpacking, family matters, and job hunting has left me rather busy as of late.
So I've moved out of the dorms and will be staying in Hacienda Heights until September or so.

So is there anyone who hosts gatherings somewhat near Walnut or Hacienda Heights? I usually hit up Super Arcade at night so I can hit up the VF gathering as well.

From what I was told. This will be a gathering at my place for Pushku.

So at least you know where it might be help if their is a gathering tonight.

hmmmm difficult, I should have called Plague earlier, now I don't know if I can really make that kind of run down with the gas money if have left (plus I'm saving for SD on sunday and whatever people are throwing on saturday). I will try to see if it's possible.
