Ok, I have to say Jacky is not as great as people think he is. Jacky and Akira are the best characters in the game, no doubt. But, to think he is somehow unbeatable is a bit of a joke. Some VF players have done themselves a disservice by not playing other fighting games competitively if they feel FS Jacky breaks the game.

No one is doing the required damage to make Jacky's risk/reward a problem outside of maybe 1-2 people in America and no one has 100% maximized his damage yet anyway. If you are losing to Jacky and it's not Denkai or SDS you probably just have a lack of matchup knowledge that needs to be addressed. I think Jacky is one of Jean's worst matchups and I rarely if ever lose to Jacky's. These aren't unsurmountable disadvantages IMO.

Jacky has some ridiculous shit, but a lot of it is over though because of people's lack of VF fundamentals. The biggest complaint (still?) is the flip kick. When I was online I treated it as his elbow class poke. be on point with your Evade Dash cancels and generally Evade towards his stomach and you can over come him at a mid level.

 

@Femto - The thing about the flipkick is you shouldn't really be attacking from disadvantage against Jacky anyways!

 

I'll definitely say Jacky's a beast in this, but I refuse to believe he's broken to a point of being God. I have trouble with Jacky but a lot of it comes from lack of matchup knowledge. He's got so many strong mixup options now that he didn't have when I played him in vf4, and it's taking me a while to be able to deal with it against more solid players. But again, it's a problem with me, not the balancing.

That's what Im trying to say. In a vs Jacky match, people's instinct to mash buttons when they get counter hit by Jab, leaves them open to counter hit flip kick, when they could've ETE to sidestep it or TEG/GTE to block it from that situation. Which stems from lack of VF fundamentals in the early stages.

 

I take serious offense to this =( (Bolded) I do maximized jacky damage everytime I have the opportunity. Online makes it difficult to do sometimes but I do. I'd Like to think that my jacky has improved somewhat though....

You rarely lose the Jacky matchup due to the fact that you have more knowledge than most people playing the game. I don't think that the matchup matters as much against a opponent who is lacking in knowledge of the basics of the game. When you play opponents with your level of knowledge, I am quite sure that it would be a bit different. Unless you dont lose to denkai either then I stand corrected.

 

Case in point. SdS is not even a good VF player.

13 frame mid that goes under highs and causes stagger on crouch or counter hit?!
Tenshi is good enough as is without adding crazy good tenshi evade(btw)you can tenshi evade an attack significantly after the attack begins. AARRGG!

SDS you need to get on the streams more so folks can see your style. Peeps needs to see more high lvl VF play in general in archived video format.

Maybe one day someone can make a hype video by collecting and cutting all the hype moments in all the fights we have stored in video format. That'd be pretty dope actually.

 

I played on a few streams unknowingly lol!! i can never get in on Joho streams cause its full to capacity. I would'nt mind though if people are willing to learn from it.

 

Agreed. People should watch SDS play.
BTW i'm a jacky hater, not an SDS hater. the SDS's lined up perfectly lol.
