Cuz he wants to go back to the game that is the focus of this site if another game's bugs aren't fixed?

That's pretty sad that Namco is still having problems avoiding things like infinites these days...Oh well, the game still rocks regardless of Ivy...

    That infinite is a fake.

    I just tried it.

I think the reason it worked for him was because training mode was set to CH and instead of using proper air control he was slamming his head off of his pad.

Those guys are serious players SC2 players.. I don't see any videos debunking that infinite theory.

Yeah, you can definitely escape that combo with air control after the second hit... You can air control any combo after the second hit...

That combo isn't possible in real play I don't think...

Plus, there's a much cooler combo you can do there that you just have to do instead cause it's so cool. (Sword) While Rising B then A+B as they hit the ground to juggle them by sticking the sword up through the ground under them.

Who cares about the infinite when you can do something that looks so cool??? C'mon!!!!!

    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I will test it when I get home but I'm 90% sure that infinite won't work...

Regardless, even if it was in the game and I was using Ivy, I still wouldn't do that combo. I'm all about having fun and playing with skill. That type of shit means less than nothing to me unless someone else is using it on me to be cheap.

I would rather win by playing fair and with skill than by mashing buttons and doing infinite combos...[/size]

Got my PS3 version today. First impressions.... meh. Seems really unbalanced and I could really do without all the the Star Wars mumbo jumbo/create a character shit.

I just can't seem to find a character I like, any suggestions? Any one with a similair moves list/style to Akira would be nice but that's probably asking a lot from a fighter like this.

What stick config do you guys use? And is there any way to hold the commands in the moves list in training? It's a pain in the arse keep having to pause then load up the command list.

Prime, that combo can be broken at several points... Every time you hit the ground there you can roll out with ukemi... Those combos only work in training against a CPU no set to Ukemi out. Those are not real combos in gameplay.

Wait till someone posts a vid of them doing that in a match...

Yeah I don't think it's fair for me to use Giant swing against someone who can't ETEG either so I dont' use it. I also dont' use circulars if my opponent starts evading my linear attacks.

Imaginary rules of what's fair and not are kinda lame imho, if it's in the game use it unless it's broke then the community bans it if they don't patch it simple as that. I'll ring someone out in a heart beat if they let me every time.

Yeah, Saramus_Prime: That video is totally not a combo. It's like those 32 hit wolf wall-combo videos people created, by setting the CPU to never guard or tech.

As for the infinite, people on all the other games sites, particularly the SC ones claim that it's real, so I'm inclined to believe them. I guess you can't air control out of that super high behind the back launcher animation used in the infinite, even though it is correct that you *should* be able to air control after the second hit.

EDIT: Did some more digging, I guess the theory is that air control doesn't work because Ivy has to hit G to turn around between each hit. That doesn't actually make her turn 180 degrees, it just causes her to immediately face towards her opponent, so the opponent *can* air control, she just tracks back to them between each hit.

PompeyFraz: Any particular reason you think it's unbalanced? It honestly seems way, way better than SC2/3 or Tekken so far to me. Not VF good, but basically nothing is, so whatever. The game has a huge amount of cheap "noob killer" moves, that are really worthless in competitive play, so it seems like everyone says it's unbalanced at first, but for the wrong reasons.

Re: Soul Calibur for PS3 or 360?

Just spent a good few hours with it and my perceptions have changed. Never really bothered with the previous SC's exept for the original so adapting from years of VF to the speed and system of SC kind of threw me at first but I'm starting to get to grips with the system.

I thing Yoshimitsu is going to be my main for now.

I'm using the Hori FS3 stick. What's the default arcade layout for SC in arcades?

The training mode is a big disappointment imo though. The fact you can't lock moves and have to keep opening the comand list from the pause menu is a real pain and the fact you cant see command input.

I haven't played online yet but will be hopefully getting some games in tonight. Any VFDC PS3 players add me on PSN-My ID is the same as my Xbox live tag /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

def entitled to your opinion and I am also sad about not having some training mode options.

    However . . .

The training mode is balln' except for not having frame by frame play of your inputs like in VF and pretty much every other fighter out there I know of.

It has the record feature which is more than I can say for VF.

Bitching about having to memorize moves then use it in training mode is just spoilt to me and doesn't warrant the training mode being crap. Memorize the damn moves, you're gonna have to do it anyway might as well start now. Only VF has that option as far as I know and yes it does rock and every game should implement it but it's not needed. I'd take the record feature over that any day.

I have a question about this game and the Hori Sticks. What's the default config for this game in the arcades? And why is the PS3 Hori stick different from th 360 one?
