I get the feeling that people on this site respect tekken more than SC. SC is no VF but its WAAAAAAY better than tekken, in its fighting system actually makes sense.

I personally like both Tekken and the SC series... I like SC's system overall, and how it plays out in comparison to Tekken. There are more defensive options and there are ways to put the game back into your favor (like KOF).

As far as SC4 goes, I like the new characters, I just wish they were toned down a bit. I played with both Algol and Hilde and they were too over-powered imo... I like how Algol could control the field, but he was still slow in terms of movement and attack speed... I also played Yoshi and Zas and they were ok, til Yoshi got nerfed in that patch. Zas should've got beefed up a bit though... He felt too high risk/low reward to me...

I hope they truly listen to their fans this time around though for SC5. Here's hoping for Li Long to make another return...

I'll sign a petition that supports Namco not making Soul Calibur 5.

I didn't like SC4 because the frame data was so screwed up, but I still added the SC5 petition to my Facebook Likes because I think the series is worth continuing. I played the hell out of SC1 and 2, and even 3 was fun for a while. I just want them to give us blockstun this time so Maxi isn't complete garbage.

This is actually a good idea. Is there a VFDC Facebook? If not, it should be made and every "Like" can be considered a vote for FS.

I didn't think SC4 was a good fighting game at all. I tried to get into it but it had way too many flaws for me to keep playing.

It couldn't have been worse than SC3... I know I've personally had long sessions in that game, and we got to the point where we were testing glitches instead of fighting...

At least most people can agree that SC2 was the best one... They should have released that one for xbla/psn with online capabilities...

SC4 > SC3, SC3 didn't make it to EVO whereas SC4 did. Besides SC1 and SC2 had arcade releases before the console release which SC3 and SC4 didn't though SC3 did have an arcade edition it came after the console release.

Personally i thought SC1 was a bit better than SC2. certainly more impressive for the time it was released. I thought the parry system in SC2 was dumbed down.

imo they've been getting worse and worse (didn't play SC3 mind you). If they make SC5, going by the trend, it'll be this gens Rise of the Robots, a game that fills me with rage and sadness even now.

Thought another Soul Calibur was practically guaranteed, don't see any need for the petition.

I thought SC1 was the best in the series and that SC4 was a disappointment. Too many good elements removed or changed in a bad way. SC2 had a lot of potential and there were all sorts of interesting things being found in that game for years after it came out but it needed more fine tuning. The series really seemed to fall away after that.

I heard from someone in the games industry that the team behind SC1 left Namco after a dispute. Anyone know anything about that?

Real talk, my favorite SC was SC3AE. It was actually balanced, and some of the bonus characters became full blown characters (Amy, Li Long, etc). There was also a 5 minute training mode which was pretty impressive for an arcade game. Plus Zas wasn't overpowered, but they changed a bunch of his moves, and gave him new ones, which made him a whole new character imo... SC1 was cool, but people fell off the stage too easily, even when they weren't near the edge of the screen. Too many clones in SC1, too. I was glad Yoshi became less of a Mitsu clone in SC2.

Honestly, I hope Rock gets beefed up in the next SC. I wouldn't even be mad if he was top tier, or close to it. He's been long overdue.

I wasn't a fan of the whole armor system and critical finish systems, it felt more like MK than SC. Regular guard breaks would've been fine, just use mixups/tech traps to get the guard break to hit since most are slow moves.

I played a bit of SC3AE and I wasn't happy that their approach to balancing the game seemed to be to just weaken characters and take stuff away. I really felt like the art and animation took a nosedive too.

I was a big fan of SC1 Hwang and his soul charge cancels. They brought that back in SC3 and then took it away again in the arcade edition.

Soul charge was a great mechanic with a variety of different uses and yet they completely took it away in SC4 along with some other things. SC4 is also probably the slowest in the series since Soul Blade.

Yeah if they brought that back and beefed that system up, it would be dope!
