Raeli posts too much, that's about all you need to know lol. In person he's a nice guy. Rex is chill too, not sure what was with the hostility.

Will continue to play and see where this game takes me, at any rate.

I think I'd still rather go up against Cody, Balrog is still so nasty and hard for me to beat. His jab is just a pain in the F-ing ass. It's fast as hell (3 frames), it has great range for a cr. jab and it links into all manner of other evil things. Once he starts tick throwing me between block strings, I have no clue what to do to stop him. Such an evil loop, he might as well stand on my foot and punch me a few times... [IMG]

Cody is definitely going to be hell to deal with too, but it'll be worse in a month or two when people really get good with him. His 'tornado punch' is a really good move and the knife poking once they manage to pick it up. I do think having the knife on the ground is an awesome and unique idea, Capcom is very creative IMO.

Yesterday I dedicated almost 100% to my boy El Fuerte. He's pretty hard to win with, especially when I can't do more than one rep of Run-Stop-Fierce (I can basically only do fierce XX run, stop, fierce and then I drop the combo and eat a reversal.) However, it is my goal to learn that damn combo and use it every match until people get so pissed.

If you lose to El Fuerte, you got out-played; he's not a very powerful character. In fact, I went up against one dude (some scrub Ken) and perfected him in the 1st round... then he just pulled the plug. I laughed pretty hard cause he must have been so pissed at getting perfected by that little weasel.

When I use Fuerte I have to let go of all ideas of fairness and just play to win or I will definitely lose. If they can't stop your wake-up game/mix-up, even if you've done it ten times in a row and start feeling guilty for spamming, DO NOT stop. Do not "play fair", you might just pay for it if you do. Once you have them trapped with Fuerte, you have to pound them into the ground without mercy, there is no such thing as being "cheap" with Fuerte; he's not really good enough to be "cheap" IMO.

He has a really good focus attack and a completely awesome oki mix-up, but other than that (forget the RSF combo cause I can't do it anywhere near reliably) he doesn't have much else. I will admit, he does have good or even great Ultras.

Any Fuerte masters out there? I'm thinking about really trying to get good with him...

I'm no master with Elf but I can hang with most decent players, I feel comfortable enough using him in tourney settings.

To play Fuerte you really need a lot of patience, and know the matchup, a good advantage that elf players have is that the opponent may not know how to deal with him due to lack of experience, and Elf players..

your right about the whole 'fair play thing' regarding Oki, if they don't know how to escape it, why stop? but more experienced players know exactly how to escape it all, sometimes I try to Run,stop just before they get up or reversal to see what they do, so it adds another element to the mind games. if your struggling with RSF, then just do RSFxslide to begin with, its much safer and then you can apply the wakeup game.

crouching fierce is your friend, so is cross up jumping fierce. learn what punishes what safely and you should be good. just practice the RSF when you can, oh and U2 is incredible.

If you want to play some Elf mirrors (crazy I know) just hit me up if I'm on Super, lag permitting of course.

Alright, here's the deal. I just noticed this thread, and I propose that anyone that plays this game but then takes the time to post GGs on a VF website is required to spend at least 1 to 2 hours that day in the VF5 online lobby. Who agrees? Ahem, Glory...

i myself have been maining good ol dhalsim. I love the fact that a sim player that truly understands him can turn SF into a chess match. I shutdown a couple makatos today. they didnt know what to do. they go forward, the makato player risked eating my FP, a projectile, or the yoga flame. they go in the air. Sim has the option of a standard Mk or the Fk judging from distance. bloody perfect character but it takes a special player to get into dhalsim.

GG's to all the countless players ive played today so far ^_^

Not really. It takes a Special player to play Guile or Dan the right way lol!!! Dhalsim was beefed up on some ol bullshit so the crybabies whose tatics never got far was rewarded lol!!

Its too much things for me to talk about with Sim that reaking with bullshit but hey everybody must have a chance (Except for the people i like SMH!!)

PLEASE VF5:FS hurry up and save us all.

ggs to everyone ive played so far on ssf4, especially the Abel player who pwned my Chun Li yesterday that was the best match ive had so far, is it just me or what if i play 10 matches in ssf4 the order will usually be,

    ken - ken - akuma - ken - ryu - akuma - ken - ken - akuma - ken

most of them have no skill at all and don't even understand the basics such as crossups, mixups etc. im not that good myself (haven't played any sf game for over 5 years) but the level of the average player is as bad as tekken 6 players, im still lovin the game though i just wish the online players were as tough as the challenge trials lol (Chun li trial 13 is impossible) [IMG]

Kikosho > Hosenka (expert opinons don't mean shit to me lol)

Seriously??? I honestly thought no one would be willing to use Fuerte in a tourney, I'm really glad to hear that someone thinks he could be viable.

I really do enjoy playing Elf A LOT, even if I'm losing a lot. He's a cool character but it seems like you can't make more that one or two "mistakes" and still eke out the win. If they hit you with their Ultra, Fuerte just dies, he can't take ~500 damage in the middle of the round and live to tell about it...

I'm most definitely going to stick it out with him for a while and really try to improve. My best, reliable combo is HP>Run-stop>HP xx Slide for three hits but that's all I can manage at the moment.

I'm going to keep at it though, I have more fun using Fuerte right now that any of my other dudes (Abel and Gouken).

You need to check out Dawgtanian.

Even though he lost he put up a good fight against a very strong opponent.

Oddly enough I don't face very many Kens, Ryus, and Akumas I am starting to see some of Kens and Ryus but they tend to be competent overall even though most of them do far too many DPs to counter my Chun's poking leaving them open to free combos daily. I am a seeing good mix of many characters most of the people see play Juri, Ibuki, and Dudley and of these 3 characters Dudley beats me the most and I have only lost to 1 Juri and 1 Ibuki online overall as well but it is still early.

I had a good start and now I am beginning to stumble and give away far too many battles when I know I have them won. Oh well I am still having a blast regardless

Dude, thanks for linking me to this Fuerte player, he's awesome! There's so many little things I'm seeing him do that I can try to use. I didn't remember that you could use the Shower Kick to cross them up when they're on the ground, I will have fun with that trick tonight... [IMG]

Ryan Hart is definitely a talented player but damn, how dirty is choosing butt ass Sagat to fight Fuerte right after you just lost to him with Ken of all people??? Ew! That's truly despicable! Then you get PERFECTED!!!! Ha ha ha ha! Go Fuerte go!

Ryan Hart suddenly makes me want to puke all over myself! [IMG]

    ^Corrected that for you [IMG]

Why do you think Dawgtanian did not use his Ultra even one time in those matches? I actually like the Flying Gigabuster (Ultra 1 in Super IV) a lot, I can actually land it pretty well in a match. Just looks like he chose not to for some reason, why hold back?

On the topic of Fuerte Ultras, I'm actually not feeling his U2 that much. U1 is still a better move IMO.

Theoretically though, from what I've played and practiced, it seems like you could actually combo into U2 for big damage if you do it right. It'll combo off a jump in HP or HK easily but I don't know any other guaranteed set-ups.

Fuerte's U2 is cheap, kinda like how abel's is. Use it as a anti-air and you'll get it every time.

Re: SSF4 Good Games Thread/SSFIV Discussion Thread

I seriously think U1 works better as an anti-air, the timing is just a little different. If you want to use U2, you have to do it real late to be sure it will land. It just doesn't even come out for me sometimes even though I know I got the input, U2 hates me.

Plus, when you jump in and I use U1 to flip up and land on your head, as soon as your feet hit the ground, there's something very satisfying about that to me.

U1 can get them on a close-ish back jump too, but U2 can't land in that situation, only on a jump in.

    Cozby-man ---> let's get some matches tonight???

    U2 > U1 all day long..

half decent players will bait ultra 1 from you, and U2 is much easier to punish with is extremely fast, unblockable, only problem of course is the range and that you cant control it..
Seriously Gerns there are hundreds of Fuerte players out there, some of which place very well in tourneys...

i had done some light combo training, a little of this a little of that. I thought i was ready to go play my 1st game. Got the game a week ago but MH3 has been dominating my time, so i've only done combo training so far. Anyhow, as soon i get in a real match, i start the round by "box stepping" then press and hold LK to try and block. FAIL.

If you say so man, I definitely think you know your stuff, I'm just going off of the general consensus on SRK from some of the better players that do a lot of contribution to the Fuerte forum.

Also, I know this is bad evidence, but the guidebook also claims U1 is the preferred Ultra for Fuerte due to the fact that you can adjust the range in certain situations to make U1 "unavoidable" (exact word they used in the book) but they're mostly referring to how well it works against jump-ins and fireballs...

I need to play a lot more with him to decide for myself but I'm leaning toward U1 already.

Yeah I know, there's some good players in the fuerte SRK forums, I'm a frequent visitor myself [IMG]

I guess as time goes on choice in both ultra's will be match up & character specific, but so far from my experience I'll stick with U2 for now.

Good luck with Elf man. Above all have fun, and make sure you choose taunt 3.. VIVA!
