SSF4 Good Games Thread

If Sega wasn't so slow to make an official announcement it wouldn't be so bad but once news of R comes out things will return to normal at least I hope it will.

 

Theres also about 400 other threads in this "General" section of the board devoted to other games. What's the difference? I think this just helps keep the VF community together even more, still GG'ing eachother on VFDC instead of wandering off to SRK. It does just sit a little strange though doesn't it?

Anywho, GGs to gl0ry. My understanding of the game is just that much better now from the 30 or so matches we had. Insane Dictator, and fundamental knowledge of the game.

 

GG's Cozby and Johoseph. I've had some good games lately with Slide, Denkai, GT and haunt also.

I made Denkai turn off his game though lol!

I'll probably keep any new replies or opinions on this game on the other forum though. This IS a VF forum and a good handful of people here don't even like the game.

Well to be honest, this is the GENERAL Forum. An "Open board for non-Virtua Fighter related discussion" which means it is open season for whatever you want to discuss. I think everyone should realize the intent of this sub-forum and feel free to explore whatever they want to, even (gasp) completely different games.

Explore, share, repeat.

 

This thread didn't even make it 10 posts before it turned into trolling . . .

Even the VF good games thread is 99% pure stupidity along the lines of "gud gamez to whoever I played, I forgot yr names cuz I was stoned" and only 1% "hey good games, I noticed you always do X when I do Y, have you thought about trying Z instead". I think this gets tolerated because at some level it encourages VF, but we don't really need 5 separate threads for each new non-VF game that comes out.

 

KoD says winners don't use drugs.

On a more serious note, you ever tried to give advice to anyone on here KoD? I'd say there's at least a 90% chance they will cry cause you tried to help them.

I liked all the fun matches overall but one thing that really bothered me today was when I faced a highly skilled Rose and in the final round of the match I used Chun's ultra to pass though her soul spark and I hit rose but the projectile somehow hit me out of my ultra after I passed through it killing me in the process and it was a close match the whole whole way (how does that happen?).

I also faced a powerful Sagat that FC out of his moves and did his ultra as well after it simular to what we would see in youtube vids, He was the first Sagat I saw play like that. I also played his El Fuentes or whatever his name is and he killed me with chest busters and his air throw after a knockdown when I was waiting for him chest buster. The only answer I had was Chun's EX spinning bird kick but when I didn't have the bar for it, I was doomed. I was one of the regulars in SRK as well no wonder I lost so bad.

 

I played this one Sagat player who would just stay away and shoot tiger shots. Whenever I got close, he'd jump over and me and avoid me like the plague and then shoot tiger shots again. Anyhow I timed a well jumped HK, C. FP, Rekka Ken Combo and then avoided him for the rest of the round lol. I think he got mad at me for doing that!

 

Has anyone else been taking advantage of Focus absorbing moves to gain momentum?I just finally started using it properly since during the first couple of days I was playing SFIV like ST(I blame it on the STHD matches from the night before)It really helps against people who like to poke nonstop or try to projectile trap you,unlike parry though you can't use it all the time or you'll pay for it with your health bar after receiving a single hit.

I would rather just jump straight up and avoid them that way it doesn't matter if the enemy uses The EX version of a projectile it won't hit me. I use it simular to a parry once in a while but not very often. Using it against punches and kicks is fun too but fast pokes still get me though.

GGs Shinobifist... thanks for playing with me. Chun's ultra is broken in the bad way. I was playing an Akuma player and I happened to catch him as he jumped backward. The first set of kicks began juggling him in mid-air, and then the last launch kick HIT, and she began doing the upward spinning bird, but since the launch kick connected while he was in the air, in glitched a bit and all of the kicks didn't hit. The last slam kick didn't physically connect at all but damaged it the Akuma while he was on the ground.
