Gouken is my main, but i worry that he is a little bit of everything but not spectacular at anything. But he's still fun. His anti-air options have left a little to be desired, but i suck at the game so who knows.

Sagat has been my favorite SF character ever since i saw him. But given his OP reputation, i have no desire to make him a character i use online, so why put in the effort.

Akuma is awesome, but seems like everyone uses him.

Ryu seemed like a lot of fun and he is a fireball maching. I think i may use him eventually, mostly cause he is so different from anything vf5.

I really like the training mode. Sure wish vf5 had something like this, lol. Seriously, why wouldn't a fighting game make a super deep challenge training system that dwarfed even vf4 evo. Every time something that touches on this is included it is a huge hit. Sadly i would say, even on SF, this is more chance it will be removed entirely than improved upon. Go figure.

<s>His Dragon Punch and his Raging Demon work pretty well for anti air.</s>

    Nevermind, lol.

This version of SF is the best 1st itteration of the series ever. With a few more iterations this could easily end up being the best SF ever.

Who would have thought SFIIING would evolve into the creamyness of SFIII3s, just give it time Capcom always gets it right by at least the 3rd try lol.

Would you rather play HD Remix? I certainly wouldn't... SFIV is pretty well done.

VF5 should have at least given you the little Bread & Butter combo section that SFIV does. It helps you learn what you should be looking to pull off real early on in your quest to learn a character.

Evo, in my opinion, still has the best trainning stuff I've seen.

gg chibiaya. yeah I will be taking that info you gave into account. I have a few questions about implimenting it tho.

So what do I do when my opponent is turtling up right? Only things I can think of getting around it is jump attack praying they don't stand up in time to block, throw, or try and get a focus attack going hoping they don't use an armor breaking move. Hence kinda why I throw so damn much. Is there something else I should be doing to not need to rely on throwing like a madman?

Also a lot of the throws i get off aren't really me wanting to throw it's just me croch blocking mashing throw because I'm expecting to be thrown. The only way I know how to get around being thrown is to throw myself, do LP/LK's hit people out their throw attempts cuz that would be sweet since i can link those into a knockdown.

Also when you do your crossup on wakeup and I block it you'd do some other move then command throw EX me which seemed to always catch me b4 I got a chance to attack you out of it. Do I HAVE to jump to avoid the command throw or can I regular throw or LP/LK you out of it if I"m expecting it?

To answer the first question. Just be patient. If you have the life lead, there is little to no reason to run in on your opponent. Let them come to you, Harder then it sounds i know.

About the cross up thing. it depends on how deep in i cross you up. If i cross you up in a deep fashion you are going to have to jump out or backdash. Those are your only options really. You cannot mash out of his EX command grab if it is done correctly. Sometimes you can grab back but it isnt worth the risk. Just backdash if you think its going to happen. Though your opponent could trick you and then do rekka to catch your backdash. In which case your probably screwed lol. But its really just a guessing game. If you jump abel can use standing HK to Hit you before you jump and then he can start cross up games all over again.

hey dudes, i dunno but i remember seeing the thread on here called "post your faves before the tiers" or something like that? i have been thinking that gouken in due time will be the top tier, the thing is i have not even unlocked him yet. but my experience in fighting him does make me wonder somewhat.

i honestly could not give a shit about tiers as i generally never play comps. to lazy as its maybe just my frame of mind, but i just do not like traveling if its only for a day or two.

all i can say is c.viper ftw!!!! sod playing regular sf characters that have been going around for so long. hell, i do not even get any satisfaction from playing charge characters anymore (except chun li) i get no sense of professionalism from playing them. lol.

(i should stop posting in forums when i have been drinking copious amounts of alcohol) thank god for spell checkers!

ahh I've thought of that one, I just don't want to play the game like that. I see the trend of turtle and run away playstyle being a staple in SF4 atm, I just don't find that fun AT ALL. That shit is just straightup boring. I'll just have to keep a good mixup going with throws to stop turtles.

SF4 favors turtlers. Strong mixup isnt always the answer to it. Sometimes you just have to wait. But i am also a very defensive player naturally so it doesnt bother me much.

Good games fulaani: Your getting alot better with abel man. You was landing those dash combos haha. Nice stuff man

    True
but cancels can open this up pretty easily when done right. Thanks to no guard crushes you can follow thru with the link combo to build that super bar. IIRC guard Damage is a little bit more higher.

I like what SDS said here. The cancels can really fuck with your opponents mind. Just charging the focus attack will usually either make them turtle up (then you could cancel and throw or overhead etc) or it will elicit a reaction as they try to avoid the FA of hit you out of it (you could do the FA or cancel into a special move to try to interrupt their attempts to hit you out of the FA.)

I've been having some luck with Fei Long charging the FA and dashing forward into his Flaming Kick to surprise them or command throw. Either way, you can do something they may not be expecting and get them to make a mistake. I don't see why this tactic wouldn't work with a lot of different characters...

I too feel FADCing is going to the be the major way of breaking turtles. Mind you I have nothing against defense I just don't want my primary response to be turtle them back. I like to have a more pro-active choice, I'm like that in VF too tho (why I like eileen; so damn safe).

You could throw people out of FA. If I see my opponent charging that shit in front of me your done(Rog player in training here)especially when I'm doing my TAP. You could do some nice fakes when your opponent blocks a string combo and you FADC into a throw or a overhead, but is it worth risking two EX bars? I don't think so IMO.
