Yeah we own them in MVC2 and 3 and its evident why.Yes we are closing the gaps in some but not the most important ones. I don't put them on a pedestal at all. the are just the bar i set myself to overcome. I really don't care about capcoms games.. I Just want to be mentioned in the same air as the Hi-level VF players. I would love that. I might have to move to Japan for a year though.

I say in retaliation for being challenged in MvC3 and MK, the American FGC should challenge Japan in VF. Hey, that's how America in general rolls, right? :p

Sure we still have an out-of-date version of the game and most people (besides us, of course) don't have the patience or the balls to play but hey, imagine the hype. [IMG]

what do you mean fixed? Is this version of the game rebalanced?

Ash_Kaiser Marly you no good jabroni I make you humble... Bronze Supporter

No, he meant that you'd see more Chun-lis than Ibukis, due to the former's position in the tier list.

Also, there's no rebalancing being done to this game.

And as my friend said - same pixilated characters.

I weighed my son yesterday and he's TWELVE kilograms. Must be a sign from God to buy this game.

Lots of useful information on the features in SF3:3rdSOE [IMG]

Skip to 10:18 for that, unless you are interested in SFxT basic fighting system explanation.

Too bad they didn't catch on quick enough for all this cool stuff to be added to HD Remix. Also, the game might be better served by a thoughtful re-balancing. Who am I kidding though?

I know what you mean. It's disturbing how proud they are of NOT rebalancing it at all xD

From a cutthroat business module point of view, it kind of makes sense:

"this game has been alive since the last Ice Age while being basically a ChunYunfest. Why waste time and money into rebalancing - potentially creating more problems - if people will swallow it up anyway?"

...is how I'm almost sure it went. Capcom sure big on cutting corners lately with all those new games they're releasing...

NO! The top tiers are beatable. It's more about defeating your opponent at the end of the day.

The top tiers are always by definition beatable. It's just a matter of how effective a toolbox your character has to answer the top tiers. The characters that have a good super off of a quick safe move are the top here. Yun is hard as hell to play imo but he's top becuase he can do beastly damage with his super. Chun has the crouching forward into her legs super that is safe, once you know how to hit check. Ken has a 3xcrouching short into Legs super so has the easiest hit checkable super cancel. Oh and can stock three of these supers up at once.

Of the group I found Ken to be the most frustrating to fight against.

That said, unless any of us end up going to tournaments for this game, we'll never meet the calibur of player where these kinds of things really matter all that much. Plus we're VF players, we have superior Yomi skills [IMG]

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">"We had discussed it, actually, somewhat extensively," Seth Killian, Strategic Marketing Director of Online & Community, answered. "The first time I wrote this document for this game was probably, maybe, two and half years ago. When we put together the basic pitch, we did have as part of the potential budget a rebalance. In order to achieve some of the other things I felt were absolutely necessary for the game to be released – budget was going to be an issue, play testing in terms of time, and balancing was going to be an issue.

"Third Strike had over ten years of a competitive history," Killian added. "For anyone who wants to say the game is ridiculous in terms of balance or anything like that – there are very few games that have that kind of history that are actually as bad as they say they are. But, we do understand where they are coming from and it is something we considered."</div></div>
From Eventhubs... it's actually just as I've predicted yesterday, brb doing the "I was RIGHT on the INTERNET!!1" dance [IMG] .

I'm more surprised Killian actually DID come out and basically told people "we can't be assed working on it, besides you'll buy it anyway" [IMG] .

rebalanced mode doesn't reallyy matter. people are hype regardless. would be surprised if the backlash from HDR made them play it safe this time and the budget is just something that helped them decide against it.
Honestly though, you have to work a lot harder than your opponent in some matchups. That's undeniable.

At the same time, screw rebalancing, capcom doesn't know what it's doing anymore in that regard.

Bump for re-hype. I've been playing alot on my ps2.

Although I would like to say I do have a minor issue with the game. I don't like the fact charge moves auto correct, so if your blocking and someone crosses you up, and lets say you wanna punish with close fierce so you step in a bit, your charge move will come out. The solution would be to punish with something else, so again this is a minor issue i don't imagine being fixed (also i've tried to throw many times and get a darn charge move to come out).

Also to add on to what Tricky was saying, many characters have crouching short short > super confirms, and even more have jab jab confirms, although c. jab being more risky.

Yesterday Seth Killian said on 1up.com that the lack of rebalancing is for Third Strike arcade purists. Also they are putting Urien's unblockable and Akuma's unthrowable 6MP back in. (Glitches/exploits that were removed from the Dreamcast version). According to Killian everybody hated the exploits being removed and the balancing that was done on the Dreamcast version. A real head-scratcher is they are putting scan lines in the graphics to give it that arcade monitor look. His spin is that Third Strike Online will be the most arcade perfect version to date.

The 3S Dreamcast version is actually based on an arcade version update board.

Of course players hated it and operators still use the original 3S CPS3 boards.

I honestly hope that with this installment, that there's more diversity in character usage. I would love to see someone other than Kuroda play a really solid Q or Necro...

Sadly it will be Ken, Chun, Yurien, Necro and Yun all day every day baby!!!!

I'm originally a Ryu / Sean player, but I think I'm gonna ride the Ken / Chun bandwagon. I'm tired of doing work only to eat 2k super cancels.
