Street Fighter III : 3rd Strike Online Edition

You can turn the "Delay" off in the options menu. That's there to ensure what you see and hear physically is what's really happening.
Of course mine is off though. Ill just take subtle jumps and skips every so often. Green pings are perfectly fine for me.

That being said, who wants some!?

 

I heard if you play on a CRT or a monitor, lag is less by a few frames. I'm not a techie, but several people are saying that approach works. I'll probably get it still but I was really excited, been practicing Hugo on DC, always wanted to learn this game.

I've heard people report invisible characters, game choosing wrong character for you, people searching 10+ minutes for one match

got to play 3S tonight, overall I have to say I thought it was pretty good, aside from the waiting, which sucks, but at least you can watch other people play.

I wasn't really paying attention to the color of the connections, and didn't notice any real lag, at least nothing like I'm used to with VF5. I felt like I was playing locally. the little ggpo things that people have noticed are being heavily exagerrated IMO.

I had fun getting worked, my first day playing this game seriously, and using Hugo... so if I'M having fun, it can't be that bad...?

I had completely forgotten this was being released on XBL. Is it worth the investment in you all's opinion? If so, maybe I'll grab it in another week or two.

 

I've been playing pretty much every night on live, been having fun with Hugo. Seen some amazing play, not surprising as people have been playing this for, what, 12-13 years? I've been at it for a week!

 

What its looking like Fellas online? I don't have but i wanna know how it came out. Is the matchmaking picking up? can you find the matches a bit easier now?

 

I've only played online a little bit and it was with a guy who lives less than 20 minutes from me. So far so good

 

For reference, I have green NAT settings; I'm also not good at this game in any way. That said, I don't have trouble finding a populated lobby but this morning it was mainly Japanese lobbies running the show. Refreshing the lobby search takes ages and I just gave up basically. As much as I'd like to say GGPO can handle the cross-Pacific connection, it can't. Finding ranked games took a good while too, and were mostly chop/rollback heavy and just felt weird in general.

This is more or less a beta test masquerading as a $15 game as it stands now. There's already a substantial patch in the pipeline, along with quite a bit of terrible paid DLC coming - music, colors, and match vids with commentary lmao.

By all accounts though the port is really good, though. I nearly applauded when I saw the GGPO logo come up on my screen. Scanlines are a nice touch. Fuck the menu music!

 

is it possible to get the old menu music? God I can't stand the new version... it blows!

I agree with this. I was sooooooo disappointed when I heard the new music!!

 

You can change it if you go to your vault, go to music and press x.

 

yeah, I changed it yang's music for the menus, but you can make it any of the songs

in terms of lag, it seems to me that either I get a game that feels like normal vs play, or it's pretty choppy. Sometimes I think combos haven't connected like they should, but I'm new to 3s. That being said, I see people parrying crazy stuff visially and with yomi, and I usually try to parry 3 hit fireballs now, usually not too bad

that being said, I have seen some crazy errors that make the game seem unfinished, the 3s forums at SRK go into heavy detail

 

Any SSF4AE players here?? Gonna pick that up tonight, since it'll be a year for VF5FS, and i'm not too hot on 3rd Strike...

 

Me, Fuunji_oneal, and gentleman thief play AE from time to time.

As far as 3soe glitches go, I was in a packed lobby. Right before the match began someone pulled out. When the match started, all of the sprites' colors were inverted. AND we somehow swapped characters. As if I know how to play remy. He's swag though.

 

yeah, that happened to me once

the more I play I'm realizing learning to parry/red parry pretty much everything, especially multi-hit specials like hurricane kicks, is the key to really doing well with this game. Otherwise, so much stuff can just be spammed with no hope of retaliation/mC.

sucks there's no record in the training mode, but I can use my DC. I'm seeing that there's real depth of skill in this game; being able to parry practically makes it a different game than what it is without being able to. It's like Dodging in VF

 

maybe i'm blind, but I can't locate the original character select music in the Xbox version. I found the menu music etc, but can't find a way to change that god awful new character select music.
