Keep in mind that Australia often falls under the wing of Sega of Japan, within their usual Asian distribution. Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Korea, etc., are SOJ responsibilities.

The U.K on the other hand is SOE. And North America is SOA. Considering that FT is a SOJ product, the version popping up in Sydney is a SOJ Asian version. That's easy to produce and they don't have to manage any new distribution channels, etc.

For FT to have a real release in the U.K or in North America, a whole heck of a lot more red tape needs to be addressed as the distribution and regulations would fall under the appropriate SOE or SOA. So, do the math - Evo was not a widely popular arcade kit, nor is it a blockbuster money maker in the extremely few arcades that got it in both Europe and North America. Based on that, the chances for marketing and distribution efforts to produce an exported Europe/North American release of FT is extremely small.

Here's my advice to people in U.K or elsewhere who want to see FT. Go to your arcade operators and get to know them. Do the research and find out where you can buy an FT kit and outline the costs of importing. Lists of posts of people saying 'yeah! bring FT here!' do very little in presenting a convincing argument, imo. It takes demonstrating that there are people who will frequent the arcade when the game is there and who will frequent it on a relatively long term basis. But your first step is to identify who the decision makers are and to get to know. A good way of doing this is through tournaments. Organize and run successful tourneys and you're well on your way to being in the operator's good books and they'll come around to listening to your requests. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

    /end ramble.

Question to Myke - are the cards VF.net accessible? /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

$1/game. Not sure how much the cards are, but I'm guessing $5? There's no vf.net connection (like hk), but to answer llanfair, anyone could take the cards to Japan and register them on vf.net for us, change our ring names, accessorize, etc.

Also, while the placard is in English, our actual game is Japanese. All the player data text, vf.net/card messages, etc, are in Japanese.

You know, I haven't actually played it yet because I'm stuck out of state on business. But when I return this weekend, I'll hopefully have some pics/movies to share.

Llan as much as i love your positve attitude about getting FT here i'm still not going to hold my breath. Infact i doubt the management even care. Also i don't see why someone should waste their time to suck up to management when they don't even have technicians who can actually fix the machine(when it has problems) or speak english!!!!!?!
Our arcades are in a sad state really and it would take 100+ people playing FT for them to even get a cab.
Nobody will organise an Evo tourney in that place already tried and the sticks were so bad that people just simply gave up. Unfortunately we don't have the luxury of Canadas and Australias competent management in arcades /versus/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Yep have to agree with Jide there, people don't seem to realise how truly incompetent the UK Arcade operators are, some (Trocadero Staff) know that they are incompetent and basically don't give a toss. /versus/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Sorry if this a little off-topic, but how much would it cost a private person to buy a FT cabinet and have it shipped to Europe. Is this even possible? A rough estimate would already be sweet. Thanks in advance.

To purchase just the upgrade GD-ROM (assuming you have a naomi2 with a network dimm board already) -- it's about 250,000Â¥ -- our local operator said that the whole thing was about $3200CAD shipped. To buy it with the dimm board and control panels it's around 480,000Â¥. An expensive proposition either way -- these ballpark figures. of course, do not include the cost of a naomi2, a cabinet, or most importantly the duties/taxes you would pay importing it.

Many thanks for the info. A ballpark figure is all I was looking for. Cheers again. N.
