I think he meant from the screen, I havent checked it but this sounds like good advice (to do as vanessa).

I sit faaaar away from people when I play, it's not like Halo where people screen hack all the time but hand hacking, thats just sick!!

Huh? Wait a sec here...how will the Vanessa player know which variations of the mounted attacks you're trying to escape by looking at the screen. Enlighten me, cause I'm a little confused right now. To my knowledge, while Van's opponent is laying on the ground being mounted; there are no animations for the escape attempts.

I could have sworn that I saw me friends put up their arms when they tried to use the holding Guard method. But I could be wrong.

I don't think so, but I'll check myself next time we play.

    Takedown exit quirkiness

Something had been bothering me for some time. It was what determines what side Vanessa gets up on out of takedown. I did a little(very little still needs verification) and I believe I've found the basic rules the control exiting from takedown

This information seems trivial until you find yourself crawling on someone right next to edge of a raft hoping when you're done you won't be going for a swim. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif

Also I apologize if this has been addressed before or it is common knowledge. I didn't see anything when I looked, but I have a tendency to miss the most obvious things.

Leaving takedown seemds to be ruled by which side of the opponent is facing the screen. Whenever you enter takedown the hand the Vanessa uses can tell you which side she will get up on if you didn't see which way the opponent was facing.

Within TKD pressing /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif will punch the opponent in the head with the hand that was closest to the opponents chest. what that means is that at the start of a match when both players are in a closed position with Player 1's chest toward the screen and Player 2's back toward the screen, Vanessa will use her left hand to punch with because it is away from the screen and corresponds with Player 2's chest being away from the screen.

    In short:
Opponents back to screen(chest is away) = Left hand
Opponents chest to screen(back is away) = Right hand
*Note that I only tested this from player 1's side. I assume this same idea applies for 2P as well, but since it's not confirmed please don't kill me if you die from reading this /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/whistle.gif

Of course all that doesn't explain how she leaves TKD. It's important to note what hand she hits with though because she seems to have a dominant side that she prefers to get up with from TKD, and /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif identifies that side.

When TKD is initiated /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif,and /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif force you to get up immediately, while /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif & /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif only do so if they are the third attacks. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif & /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif share the same animation when they are the last attacks and both make Vanessa get up on the side she is punching with. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif also make Vanessa arise on this side. In face /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif is the only attack that when used makes her get up on the other side. Because most of her attacks put her to one side I named that side the Major side...and I was never able to come up with a good name for the other one so I just called it minor..XD

    So to summarize:
Ending TKD with either /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif, or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif puts her on the side she hits with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif(the direction of the opponents chest before entering TKD) Hereby named the Major side(unless someone has something much better por favor). /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

    and

Ending TKD with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif results in Vanessa getting up towards the side that the opponents back was facing. Hereby named the minor side(ugh). The rules change slightly when your opponent guesses right and breaks TKD though.

I tested which side Vanessa would get up on when TKD as broken and I seems that the only time she gets up on the Major side is when /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif is broken. If any of her other options put her on the minor side when broken. Yep.../forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, and /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif all animate to the minor on a correct guess. Which means that if you mount near the edge of the ring you need to know which side your opponent was facing to remain safe. Depending on what side they were facing will determine what option you need to choose to protect yourself from instant death and humiliation.

If the opponent's chest is away from the screen that means the Major side away from the screen. So in this scenario if the edge is towards the screen and you are mounted into TKD to remain safe you should use /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif. Whether the opponent breaks the throw or not you will get up away from the edge of the ring.

If the opponent's chest is towards the screen and the edge is towards the screen then you're safest option is /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif. Because the Major side is actually towards the edge of the ring, you want to choose the option that will always place you on the minor side whether it is broken or not.

    So to summarize it all:
The rules of takedown are determined by which way the Opponent is facing. Three of Vanessa's TKD options(/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif), and breaking /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif make her get up on the side of her opponent's chest(Major side). Vanessa will get up on the side of the opponents back(minor side) if she ends TKD with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, or if /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif are broken.

Interestingly, if you're too scared to do anything she will get straight up from the opponent when you do nothing. You can then use the time it takes them to get back up to better position yourself.

That's the basic idea behind my findings. I'd still like to looking to the different ways she acutally enters TKD myself, specifically /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif, and /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif. I also encourage and and all Vanessa players to go into dojo and verify my findings. If they can't be repeated then obviously I am wrong.

    So, if i understand correctly:

    Throw followup > front side
Low punch followup > back side
High punch followup > front if successful, back if broken

    ...right?
